M any have often w ondered w here w ould B utte Falls be if it w ere not for Julie. She is one of those quiet people w ho is alw ays there to help and for this reason m ay often be taken for granted. W hether she is planning an event or assisting, you can alw ays count on Julie. H er involvem ent in the com m unity, her dedication to her fam ily, her caring for the children of the com m unity, her zest for life, and her artistic ability are but a few of Julie ’ s outstanding traits. T hose w ho know Julie often w onder how she juggles her w ork and fam ily. A long w ith being the librarian at the grade school, Julie is a w ife, a m other of five, a helpful granddaughter, and still finds tim e to volunteer for her com m unity. Julie is on the budget com m ittee for the tow n, and up until Septem ber she w as also on the Planning C om m ission, a position she had held for five years. Julie has been a very dedicated m em ber of the tow n ’ s A ctive C lub, the organization that sponsors and plans the 4 111 of July Parade and activities and Santa N ight each year. Julie has helped aifarige for cookies on Santa N ight and has played the part of Santa ’ s helpful little elf, hoisting children into Santa ’ s lap and handing out bags of goodies. D uring the past year Julie has spent m any, m any hours helping her daughter, A m ber H ersom , w ith establishing the youth center, Logger's Landing. Julie provided A m ber w ith encouragem ent as w ell as helping to paint w alls, w ash w indow s, solicit for volunteers, and help w ith fund-raising. Julie ’ s efforts did not stop w hen the center opened. D uring the recent visit of C ycle O regon, Julie coordinated plans for the rest stop at M idw ay. She planned the them e, arranged for students and friends to help staff the snack area, purchased supplies and arranged for them to be hauled to the location. W ith the help of her husband, the students, and her friends, the cyclists w ere provided w ith a cheerful greeting along w ith their drinks and snacks. A ll of Julie ’ s hard w ork co-ordinating the rest stop earned over $400 for the youth center. Julie ’ s creativity and artistic ability are w idely know n. M any w ere the H allow eens that she and her fam ily staged a m agnificent haunted house for the children of the com m unity. Julie has also helped decorate for m any activities including the stage for C ycle O regon in 1994 and the 90 th anniversary celebration for the B utte Falls School D istrict. Julie also w rites stories and articles, m any w hich have ^g® ared ir«THE ^UlILETiW . In addition to the num erous activities Julie participates in she still finds tim e to take an active part in the lives of her children. She currently enjoys w atching her sons w ho play on the high school and junior high football team s. T hanks Julie for all that you do! Y ou are truly an inspiration to all! i »
