Bev «and Carlos Carrillo
NOVEMBER CITIZENS OF THE MONTH
This m onth The Bulletin recognizes Bev and Carlos Carrillo as it’s Citizens o f the Month.
Since moving from Bend to Butte Falls nearly four years ago Bev and Carlos have jumped
right into life in a small town. Carlos is the District Ranger at the Butre Falls Forest Service
Office and Bev is a homemaker and a talented artist and crafter specializing in the Tole
Fainting o f Old World Santas.
In their spare time Bev and Carlos volunteer for a variety o f community activities.
Both are active members of the Lions Club, with Carlos serving as the current President.
Recently Carlos, along with other club members, donated two days o f his time to staff the
Oregon Lions Club Mobile Screening unit which provided free sight and hearing testing to
students at the elementary school and to 45 adult community members. Carlos is also a
member of the Upper Rogue Regional Tourism Alliance.
Bev is a board member o f the Butte Falls Historical Society, a member o f Friends o f
the Library, and is on the Butte Falls Scholarship Committee. As a member of the scholarship
committee Bev has participated in numerous fund-raisers for the organization including a
community dinner, the snack bar at the Lions Club trap shoots, and the silent auctions held
each year at the Christmas Bazaar. ' These fund-raisers have helped earn thousands o f dollars
for local scholarships.
Together Bev and Carlos have actively participated on the Economic Development
Commission and the Active Club Santa Night. In addition to their community activities Bev
and Carlos find time to be involved Grandparents to three boys who live in H ood River.
The Carrillos are both talented in the art of stained glass. We are told that Carlos has
made some beautiful stained glass lamps. H e is also a 'train buff and collects miniature trains.
In addition to tole painting, Beverly is talented in flower arranging and cake decorating. She
is also known around town for her delicious cooldes. If you have ever attended a meeting with
Bev or a forest service activity at the local office you have probably had some of her wonderful
cookies.
When Bev and Carlos moved to Butte Falls they had plans to move north when Carlos
retires, but we are happy to report that they have recently purchased a house here and plan to
make this their permanent home.
The Bulletin staff wishes to express its' gratitude to Carlos and thank him for his
continued support. Thanks also to Bev who is always there when extra help is needed with
folding, stapling, inserting, or mailing.
For those o f us who have had the pleasure of working with you, we appreciate your on
going commitment and support. We appreciated you, Bev and Carlos.
