This month we are proud to honor two sisters as
citizens of the month. They are both active in
community organizations and can usually be
found working together on projects. We are
proud to honor E lle n M o o re and C a ro l Gasper
son.
Ellen is a long-time resident of the Butte Falls
area and has been active in Home Extension
and the Lioness Club. Carol on the other hand
has lived in Butte Falls since June of 1994. Be
ing new to the community was no handicap for
Carol. Sister Ellen had already introduced her to
community members and volunteered her to
help at Cycle Oregon. It was soon known that
Carol, like her sister, was a friendly lady who
was willing to help whenever there was a need.
Ellen and Carol are members of the Active Club
and were in charge of the childrens games on
the 4th of July. Both are volunteers at the library
and are members of Friends of the Library. Car
ol is membership chairman while Ellen is presi
dent and represents the group on the scholar
ship committee.
Soon after arriving in town, Carol joined Home
Extension and was promptly elected secretary.
She is their scholarship representative and will
also be their chairperson for the 1995 Dream
Tree. Both sisters are members of the Lioness
Club; Ellen is a past president and Carol is the
group’s representative on Parent Council as
well as chairperson for the bazaar at this year’s
Christmas in the Country. Both are very active
and dependable members.

Ellen was there to help again when 50 dozen
cupcakes were needed for The Friendship Cir
cle during Children ’s Week. She spent many
hours at the Community Hall baking and frost
ing cupcakes. Ellen is also a member of the
newly established Community Patrol.
We also understand that years back, Ellen took
some belly dance lessons. Now we know where
to go with those questions on this shakey sub
ject.
As busy as these ladies are, they still find time
to spend with their families. Ellen is a VUTSRQPONMLKJIHGFEDCB
wife, moth
er, grandmother, and great grandmother. Carol
is a wife, mother, and grandmother. In addition
she is also raising her grandson. Some of us
wonder where she finds all of her energy!
Home Extension, Friends of the Library, the Ac
tive Club, the Scholarship Committee, and the
Lioness Club all feel very lucky to have Carol
and Ellen as members of their organizations.
Butte Falls is privileged to have the sister team
of Carol Gasperson and Ellen Moore as mem
bers of the community. We salute you and thank
you!
The benefit dinner for the scholarship fund was
another project where the sisters performed as
an excellent team. Both put in many hours
shopping, preparing food, and cooking for the
dinner. Those working on the dinner said they
were grateful to Carol and Ellen for all of their
hard work and support.
