IF YOU APPLY FOR
TRAINING UNDER M.D.T.A.
You need a job. Not just for to
day, but a permanent job. And
what is your skill? What education
do you have?
"I have heard about M.D.T.A.
and I know it is something that I
need," say say. "I must get some
education and some training in a
skill, so I can get a regular job."
The best answer for you may be
to train under M.D.T.A., an O.E.O.
project.
When you go to Salem to apply
for MDTA, first you receive an ap
pointment for an interview., If you
have no skills, you w ill be consider
ed for the basic education program.
Do not be surprised if you cannot
get into MDTA instantly. The open
ings are limited. But when you are
accepted, you may begin with two
weeks of study in basic education.
Next, the MDTA teachers help
you to decide what kind of work
you should train for, such as elec
trical work, farm equipment, jani
tor, clerk, and other types of jobs.
Most of the training courses re
quire about 12 weeks.
You receive pay while you train
through MDTA.
The pay is $36 a week, plus $5
per child in the family, up to six
children. There may also be some
allowance f o r transportation. In
order for you to receive the train
ing you are best qualified for,
MDTA may have to send you to
another area.
Through the advantages of MD
TA, you and your family are able to
live while you train for a steady
job. And after your training is over,
if you get a job, you w ill begin to
live with less fear of unemploy
