DOODLES
Gayle Starr is a superb artist whose directions
of art are varied and complex She paints, she draws;
she has also assisted in creating plaster casts of live
faces She sketches while on the phone “These are
my doodles," she says of the conifer trees and swirling
cosmos on this page "I do this while sitting in a chair
in my living room."
"I love these trees around me." she says.
"They all have personalities I see the wind carve them
on the hills. I can hear the wind blowing through them
and they smell nice I can hear them on a windy night
before I feel the wind They have the whooshy sound
of water."
She lives in uppertown Astoria, "right where the
wind blows up the hill. I can hear storms coming right in
the heart of the hills and never feel them, they just blow
right over me."
