i Record-Courier 3 THURSDAY, MAY 12,2016 ■MB—.,• fe .,-v Darlene Ballard Marsha Sue Hollriegel July 1922-April 2016 May 1944-April 2016 Darlene Ballard, 93, of Union and Baker City died on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at St. Alphon- : sus Hospital-Baker. A Graveside Service at : Union Cemetery will be held at a later date, to be ; announced. Darlene Ballard was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother and friend. She was a skilled gardener and enjoyed gathering mushrooms, picking huckleberries and camping. Many afternoons you could find Darlene embroiled in a cutthroat round of pinochle with a daily beer. You couldn’t begrudge her uncanny luck of drawing 300 pinochle. Bom July 21,1922 to Alfred Gray and Edith May Pratt, Darlene Hattie Pratt made it through her junior year attending high school in Ericson, NE. She then moved with the rest of her family to Union, OR. It was ; there that Darlene met and married Meade Ballard. At Meade’s passing : they had been married 63 Years. ; Darlene birthed and raised five children. Much on her own during i WW11, she managed Dixie and Connie, while Meade, served in the Navy. Deforest (Tork), Sue, and Louann followed. Darlene was a I hard-working woman. Busy raising her children and taking care of the ■ home. She was an avid gardener and filled countless canning jars with her garden crops. Darlene was always busy—working hard, playing hard, and taking care of her family. She and Meade ran thé Cove Tavern for a couple of years. Otherwise she was pretty much old school stay at home homemaker. Darlene lived in Union, OR for approximately 65 years, relocating to Baker City only after her husband passed away. Darlene was preceded in death by her husband Meade and daughter, Louann. MidKiff Nov. 1942-April 2016 Marsha Sue Hollriegel, 71, of Sumpter died April 30, 2016 at St. Alphonsus Medical Center in Baker City. No services are planned at this time. Marsha was bom on May 5, 1944 to Vernon D. and Juanita (Lopkwood) Richards in McMinnville, Ore. She worked as an administrative assistantfor the Federal Bureau of Investigation for 18 years until her retirement in 2006. On November 13 of 2001 she mar ried Richard T. Hollriegel in Portland, Ore. Survivors include her husband Richard of Sumpter, a daughter Tami J. Richards of Faifview, Ore., a grandson Joel R. Teixeira of Baker City and a granddaughter Tianna E. Teixeira of Fairview, Ore. To light a candle in Marsha's memory, please go to www.grayswestco. com Jadene “Skeeter” Profitt May 1956-April 2016 Jadene “Skeeter” Profitt died April 12,2016 in Boise, Idaho. A Celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 11am at the Eagles Lodge, in Baker City. Jadene was bom May 16, 1956 in Portland, Ore. (due to her being premature) to Mildred and Buford Kennison. She was raised in Pendle ton, Ore. and in later years moved to Montana where she attended High School. On August 2,1971, Skeeter wed her husband Lofen Profitt whom she had met while still in school. Together they had two sons. Skeeter moved to back to Baker in 1972 and has lived here ever since. Skeeter worked in construction until a neck injury prevented her from continuing in that field. She later worked as a dietary aid at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Baker City, until her injury required surgery. As a child, Skeeter enjoyed riding horses on the family ranch. She loved summer and camping with her own family but always said that her favorite time in her life was when she became a grandmother. Skeeter will be remembered for always making people smile. She had an infectious laugh, always had an ear to listen and a huge heart. She was preceded in death by parents Grace and John Profitt; Buford and Mildred Kennison; sister Alberta Lee Dixon Jadene "Skeeter" is survived by her sons Chad Laverne Profitt of Salem, Ore., and Nick Profitt of Baker City, Ore.; grandchildren Logan Owen Profitt of North Powder, and Hunter Gage Profitt of Baker City; brothers Stan and wife Denise Kennison of North Carolina, Steve Scott Kennison of Richland, Ore. As a teenager, David worked at the Baker Livestock Yard and in several grocery stores j as a<box boy.
