The City’s maintenance contractor, Grass Master, will soon be doing spring cleanup and grounds
maintenance work at the Mt. Hope Cemetery, including removal of deteriorated decorations, flowers,
floral designs, thatching, edging, fertilizing, and weed spraying, weather permitting. This work is sched

6,2015. Please note that decorative items not removed from graves and headstones by that date will
be collected by the contractor beginning on that date. Collected items, other than perishable or dete
riorated items, will be stored until claimed or until November 1,2016. Items conforming to the cemetery
rules may be placed on or returned to the graves beginning on April 30,2015. A copy of the Mt. Hope

in the City’s effort to diligently maintain the cemetery in the manner and dignity appropriate for the
grounds. Questions may be directed to the City of Baker City at 524-2046 or 524-2063.

LIVESTOCK
The Eastern Oregon Regional Theatre will be holding a Silent Movie Film Festival at the Iron Gate
Theatre in The Basche Sage Mall April 8-10. Each day of the festival will feature a different classic
silent movie and will be accompanied by music composed and performed by local artist Keith Taylor.
According to Eastern Oregon Regional Theatre President Kelly Brickman, Taylor graciously volun
teered to present this festival in order to raise funds for the operating costs of the Iron Gate Theatre.
On Friday, Keith will play "It’s the Old Army Game" with WC Fields beginning at 7 p.m.. On Saturday
night at 7 p.m. the movie will be the Alfred Hitchcock thriller, "The Lodger." Sunday’s movie will be at
3 p.m. and is going to be a special surprise showing of a classic romantic drama with one of the most
famous film stars of that era. Tickets for the event will be available at the door. The cost per movie
is $8 or all three movies for $20.
“Every year the cost to put on a play rises and we would like to continue to provide affordable live
theater in Baker City,” said Brickman. “We would rather not raise ticket prices. In order to do that, we
must do fundraising events such as this festival. We also apply for grants, seek local sponsors for our
musical productions, accept advertisers in our programs, and rent out our theater for meetings and
visiting performers.”
The festival will be held at the Iron Gate Theatre, upstairs in the
Basche Sage Mall. The theater has 45 seats which includes two
wheelchair spaces. There will be an elevator operator to take those
patrons who do not wish to climb the stairs up to the theater. There
will also be refreshments for sale.
