Flaggers will direct traffic on both sides of the slide, which is located 13 miles north of the Oxbow Bridge on the Idaho side of the Snake River. Drivers should use extra caution and be prepared to stop. The slide occurred Saturday, March 12. Crews have been working since then to safely remove the debris. They expect the road to be completely cleared by Thursday afternoon. March 24 at the Eltrym Theater at 7 p.m., ‘The Great Northwest’ will be shown with filmmaker Matt McCormick. It is free to the public., The film is an experimental documentary based on the re-creation of a 3,200 mile road-trip made in 1958 by four, Seattle women who thoroughly documented their journey in an elaborate scrap book... Fifty years later, Portland filmmaker Matt McCormick found that scrapbook in a thrift store, and in 2010 det out on the road, following their route as precisely as possible and searching out every stop in which the ladies had documented. McCormick will be on hand to introduce the film and will hold a question and answer session af terwards. March 25 at the Baker County Library artists SK Cothren and Nancy Coffeit will be holding the workshops "Words as Sculpture.” Bring your friends and spend a fun Spring Break afternoon creating a temporary art sculpture! Be like artists Andy Goldsworthy and Christo, who create site-specific temporary public sculptures. Build a sculpture using library materials, film it and share it with the public. 1-2:30 p.m. with Nancy Coffeit for kids ages 5-12 r 2:30-4 p.m. with SK Cothren for ages 13 to Adults. Cost is Free to the public. These programs are made possible by funds from Art Place America and the Libraries of East ern Oregon. 3 2 6 Treble Choir has fun with Sahayta. Submitted by Brian Vegter March 17 18 19 Your results All of the Baker Middle School and Baker High School Choirs performed on Thursday, March 10 in the BHS Auditorium. The choirs performed from 7th Grade to Bel Canto to show the pro gression in vocal music. Performing a variety of music from different countries, the singers enjoyed singing as much as the audience enjoyed listening. After the 7th and‘8th grade choirs performed individually, they combined to sing Bonse Aba using bamboo sticks and a variety of claps and dance moves. Next was the High School Concert Choir, singing two selections. Treble Choir concluded with Sahayta (an international song) that was fun and energetic. Bel Canto did a beautiful job on their, four se lections which they have prepared for Districts on Wednesday, March 16. The Men's Choir sang the barbershop version of "Coney Island Baby," complete with barbershop boater hats. All choirs combined for the final selection - "Sea sons of Love," from the movie "Rent." It was a delightful evening. Great Northwest Film to be Shown at Eltrym Thursday 1 Story/photos by Eden Taylor J J J 130 p ta [35 ■ ■L42 45 47 49 Across 1. Plant of a certain family 7.
