Davis Oct. 1936 - Sept. 2015 Longtime Baker City resident, Helen Ruth Carmon Davis, 78, passed away at Bee-Hive Assisted giving on Wednesday, Sept. 23, ^015. % Graveside services will be held ■bn Sunday, Sept. 27,2015, at 1 p.m. ¡in Halfway, Ore., at Pine Eagle Cemetery. Helen was bom on Oct. 6, 1936 at Emberson, Tex., to Olen and Anne Carmon. She was one of seven children. She ;spent her childhood in Texas. ; She lived in Rialto, Calif., for many years before moving to Baker City where she had lived for the past 40 years with her husband, Alvin, of 52 years. She was the proud mother of four children. She enjoyed cooking for her family and especially enjoyed camping and fishing on the Snake River with family and friends. She spent many years working as a cook at Fancy Dan's, Smoke Shop, and Cattle Kate's. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grand­ children who lived in Baker City and called her "Honey." She also loved her grandchildren who did not five here in Baker City with her, but cherished the times when she was able to visit with them as well. One of her favorite past times was to have lunch with her friends at the Senior Center. She was able tp stay in her own home and be cared for by her daughter, Cindy and granddaughter Alyssa, Encompass Home Health, and Heart and Home Hospice until just a few weeks ago when she spent her final days at Bee Hive Assisted Living with her family by her side. . Survivors include her husband, Alvin of Baker City, son Jerry (Michelle) Bryan ofVictorville, Calif., Daughters Cindy (Jim) Frampton of Baker City, Julie (Dion) Hess of Ridge­ field, Wash., stepdaughter Denise (Loren) Eib of Mauii, Hawaii, grandchildren Amanda, Jay, Alyssa, Samantha, Caleb, Kirk, Jason, Kelly, Justin, Harmony, Dana, and Dustin, great-grandchildren, Alexa, Haley, Laney,Craig, Max, Myles and Marcos. Sisters, Rita Wade and Joella Murphy and brother Ernest Carmon. She is preceded in death by her parents, son Eddie, and sisters Mary, Etta, and Vessie. Rita Soniavalinda Mason June 1980 - Sept. 2015 Rita Soniavalinda (Gutierrez) Mason, 35, of Baker City died Sept. 19,2015 with her family by her side. A funeral service was held at .11 a.m., Sept. 25,2015 at Gray's West & Company Pioneer Chapel, 1500 Dewey Ave. Officiating was by Father Robert Greiner of St. Francis De Sales Cathedral. Interment will be at Mt, Hope Cemetery with a reception following at the VFW Hall following the interment. Rita was tom on June 12, 1980 in Sacramento, Calif., to Manuel Huerta Gutierrez and Helen Ramos. She attended school at McClatch High School in Sacramento and Baker High School along with attending the Job Corp. She was Valedictorian at the Job Corp and received the Presidents Award from Bill Clinton. Rita married Charles Mason on April 1, 2011 in Sacra­ mento and the two of them raised their family. Ritaloved tak­ ing care of her family and that was what she did until her passing. She loved cosmetics and was an avid consumer of the M.A.C. Products. She also enjoyed shopping and enrich­ ing the activities with her family. She was a volunteer for the Sacramento Neighborhood Housing Project and the Sacramento START Program but the greatest accomplishment was taking care of a family she loved so much. Rita is survived by her husband, Charles Mason, children, Aaliyah, Yasmine, Connor of Baker City and Manuel, Carlos, Rito, Blanca, Michelle, Chris of California, her father Manny Gutierrez of Baker City, aunts and uncles, Donna, Trino, Mary and Chuck nieces and nephews, Manuel, Michael, Hillary, Xochi, Beau, Jackie, Eric, Tatyana, Sonny, Jason, Jalena, Isabella and many others, and her in-laws, Abe, Mike, Richelie, Lori, Therman, Chuck and Chris, her first husband, Robert John Feeley and former mother-in-law Valerie Feeley both of Baker City. During her life she worked various part-time jobs, but was a full time wife and mother. I Naomi enjoyed bowling, crafting and cooking. Her fa­ vorite time of year was autumn and spring. Her most mem­ orable times were the day she wed Marvin, the births of her ¡children and grandchildren. A Memorial Service and Celebra­ tion of Morgan's life was held on Saturday, Sept. 26,2015 at 3 p.m. at the Baker City Christian Church on Hwy 7. Morgan was bom on March 31,2015 in La Grande, Ore., to Lindsey Nelson and Donald "Red" Mawhinney. Morgan's parents shared, "In the 5 1/2 short months that we got to hold our perfect baby boy, he was shown more love than some people endure in a lifetime. He was always being loved on, kissed, and held tightly. These past months have been such an amazing journey in our lives. Morgan got to do so much in his short life: camping, fishing, boating. He was really into cars and loved watching cars on television, so we took him to the Meridian Speedway Nightfire Races. We all went to the coast and Morgan loved putting his toes in the sand." "His smile could light up a room and it was so contagious. He touched everybody's heart that knew him and could al­ ways get a smile out of anyone, no matter what. And when he grabbed your face to kiss you, you felt the love he had for you. He was perfect in each and every way. Even if he was taken from us way to early, he was loved unconditionally and he left us full of love with the hope to see him again some­ day." Morgan also enjoyed jumping on his rocking horse, cud­ dling, kisses and he always had smiles. He flirted with his beautiful sparkling eyes and gave his Grandpa Chuck the best high fives. Pulling his Dad's Goatee was added fun. Morgan learned to roll over and was just about to crawl. He showed everyone what real love is, he taught his brother and sisters so much and was his Nama's Mr. Magoo. Morgan also en­ joyed watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and his eyes lit up when the theme song came on. He also enjoyed playing with a stuffed animal rabbit his big sister got for him when he was bom. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers John Nelson and Jim Robinson; grandmother Sharon Brutscher; uncles Craig Robinson and Joshua Nelson; great grandparents LaFaun and "Pinky" Hood. Wayne was bom Nov. 26, 1942 in Boise, Idaho. Wayne was raised by his grandparents and after graduating from high school in 1960, Wayne served in the Army during the Viet­ nam War. On Dec. 31, 1978 Wayne married Andy Morrow while in Vancouver, Wash. He became a truck driver and worked for Anodizing Inc. for 17 years, retiring in 2005. He enjoyed doing carpentry work for a pass time and loved to fish and hunt. Wayne is survived by his wife, Andy of Sumpter, two sons, David Mash of Bolivar, Ny., Kevin Mash of Olympia, Wash., a stepson, Larry Jones of Omaha, Neb., one grand­ child and a sister, Marie Nolting of Cuba, Mo. He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Gladys and Hazel and a brother, Glen. Pat (Emma Myrtle) Cassidy Justus died peacefully at Meadowbrook Place on Saturday, Sept. 19,2015. Pat was bom Emma Myrtle Cas­ sidy in Baker on Jan. 6, 1924 to Darley and Edna Cassidy and lived in Baker City most of her life. She graduated from Baker High School in 1942 and immediately went to Pendleton to work at the Army Air Base. She later enrolled in the Army Cadet Nurse Program in St. Louis, Mo., but returned to Baker. She was employed at the Baker State Bank, now the US National Bank, retiring as Operations Officer in the 1980s. In 1947 Pat married Daniel Sterling Justus (Bob). They had three sons: Dan of Eugene, David of Baker City, Bob of Castle Rock, Wash., and a daughter, Cheryl Lynn. Pat and Bob enjoyed life to the fullest with snowmobiling, camping, motorcycling and trips to Nevada. They worked together to build a beautiful log cabin on East Eagle Creek and spent many happy years there in the summer and snow- mobiled there in the winter. Pat enjoyed gardening, reading and being with family. She was a long time member of the water aerobics group at the Baker pool and several service groups, including the Salvation Army board. Pat is survived by her sons: Dan and (Rustie), David and (Jean), and Bob; her grandchildren: Jesse, Daniel, Misty, Barry; five great-grandchildren and her sister, Darlene. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bob, daughter, Cheryl Lynn, grandson Chris Justus, brother Bill and her parents. Patricia Elaine Beymer Aug. 1923-Sept. 2015 Patricia Elaine Beymer, 92, a former Baker City resident, died Sept. 20, 2015, at the Oregon Veterans Home at The Dalles. Patricia was bom on Aug, 28, 1923, in Klamath Falls. Her parents, Burrell and Elizabeth Short farmed in Klamath County and raised six children, Pat's three sisters and two brothers. Pat graduated from high school in 1942. She attended Oregon State University for one year. She and her high school sweetheart, Fred Beymer, her parents and Fred's parents met in San Diego where Fred and Pat were married on Feb. 19, 1944. While Fred was away in the Pacific during the war, Pat gave birth to her first child. After the war Fred and Pat purchased a house and acreage from Pat's father and proceeded to raise potatoes and chil­ dren. Their son Michel Fred's birth was followed by the birth of Starla Sue, Bill Patrick, Becky Jo and Kelly Lee. They also introduced their children to rodeo arid Pat was a member of the Saddle Club, a female counterpart to the Sheriffs Posse. She and Fred rode in many parades and rodeos in southern Oregon. She completed her college degree at Southern Oregon Col­ lege in Ashland, Ore. Her teaching career s.iartcd iii Kla­ math Falls at Mills Elementary school where she taught second grade during the week and spent weekends on the road going to her children's basketball, football, softball and rodeo events until the family moved to Sisters, Ore. It was in Sisters that Pat started her career in one and two room schools. She taught in rural Oregon schools in Tumalo, Camp Sherman, Warm Springs, Simnasho, Wamic and Tygh Valley. From Sisters, Pat and Fred moved to Camp Sherman in 1964 where they bought an A-frame restaurant and sold homemade French fries, ice cream and hamburgers during the summer season. They put their children to work guiding trail rides and taking tourists into the Mount Jefferson Wilderness on pack trips. From Camp Sherman, Fred and Pat went to the Oregon Coast where they had a pony ring at the Pixieland amusement park. Their next adventure was in Kahneeta on the Warm Springs Reservation where they again put their horses to work providing rides to guests of the resort. She retired in Oregon and moved with Fred to Nevada. There she took up the reins again and taught at Leonard Creek School, then a year at Denio and three years at Orovada for the Humboldt County School District. They bought a house in Baker City and commuted back and forth from Orvada, Nev., to Baker City on weekends. They then permanently retired in Baker City. She leaves behind three children: Starla, Bill and Becky. She and Fred have 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grand­ children. Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Fred and her sons, Michael and Kelly. Pat and Fred will be together again in the Willamette National Cemetery in Port­ land.
