Cycle Oregon
On Monday evening, I met up
with Jonathan Maus, founder and
editor of Bike Portland. He has a
website BikePortland.org and
blogs about bicycling all across
the country. Jonathan was biking
the route the Cycle Oregon will
be doing here in Sept.
Pine Fest
The event is scheduled for Sept.
11-12 to be held at the Pine Valley
& SayU

Here we are, into our second
week of Aug. The weather has
been hot, and nights are definitely
cooling right down. They say we
are going to get some rain. That
remains to be seen. Monday we
had dark clouds, a huge wind and
then it passed. At Blake and Kel-
lie Dennis's home a huge tree
came down, thankfully not caus
ing any damage.
Baker Fair
The Eagle Valley 4-H had a
wonderful weekend at fair in
Baker City this last week. There
were smiles all around, ribbons
Pine Eagle Represented at the Fair
Fair Grounds in Halfway. The list
of entertainers include Brook
Faulk; a group called Jelly Bread
which is a soul/funk fun band;
the Steve Fulton Band out of
Boise; The Blackberry Bushes
with fiddle and banjo; Bread &
Circus a newcomer on the Boise
Band Scene. Finger pickin' fun;
James Dean Kindle & the Eastern
Oregon Playboys. It is.going to
be a fabulous weekend, so come
on out, kick up your heels or relax
and enjoy. Tickets $10 each, chil-

dren under 12 are free.

And so my friends, it has been a
busy couple of weeks. The eye is
slowly improving but the medi
cine to cure me has just about
made me beyond miserable.
Hopefully with my sight slowly
coming back, we are on the mend.

cine salesman to help modern
Americans understand frontier
history and early day health
care.
The Dr. Balthasar character
uses the rapid fire patter and
entertaining techniques that at
tracted early American country
folk to attend a sales talk and
purchase mostly useless ton
ics. Follin opens and closes his
forty minute programs with
modern viewpoints and facts
about this early industry and
frontier life, but when he as
sumes his character, audi
ences
find
themselves
transported back in time, and
often become part of the good
doctor’s sales spiel.
