Haines 1901 ~ Haines, Baker County, Oregon JUN 1 8 2015 Hopeful^Tw/ By Gina Perkins r Sierra v—x' The family of Sierra Bingham, daughter of Stacy and Jason Bingham who has been wait ing for a second heart transplant at Stanford, received "the call" another heart had become available late Monday night. According to her mother, Stacy, Sierra was officially admitted to the hospital at 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning. She entered surgery at about 6 p.m. that same day. At about 9:20 p.m. doctors had fully determined the new heart was a suitable transplant for Sierra and the surgery continued well into the wee hours of Wednesday. Doctors believe the surgery went well and as of Wednesday morning and press time, Sierra is recovering in CVICU. Sierra is a beloved student at Powder Valley and at the end of the school year, her fellow students made a special video for her to let her know how much they care about her. They also stood together on the school playground to form the shape of a heart. It's fair to say this whole community sends loving thoughts to this young lady, her family, and the families who made the difficult deci sion to donate the heart of their beloved family mem bers for both transplants Sierra has received.
