All persons listed are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Charges can be amended or dismissed.) *** Monday, Dec. 10 *A home in the 500 block of Garner Road was broken into Nov. 30. Toshiba and Samsung laptops, a PlayStation 4, and $200 worth of groceries disappeared. *A fugitive with an Oregon State Parole Board warrant for parole violation was arrested in the 25000 block of Redwood Hwy. at 3:36 p.m. Derek Brian Hood, 31, was detained in Josephine County Jail (JCJ) pending transport to state prison. Tuesday, Dec. 11 *A driver tried to avoid law enforcement but ended up in a ditch in the 4000 block of Reeves Creek Road at 11:56 a.m. Tawnee Cook, 30, was cited for driving while suspended violation (DWS-V), no insurance, and speeding 83 in a 55- mph zone. Cook was then detained in JCJ for reckless driving and felony elude (vehicle). *A domestic violence situation near Redwood Hwy. and Eight Dollar Road resulted in the arrest of Nathaniel Labat, 38 at 2:04 p.m. Labat was detained in JCJ, charged with strangulation and coercion. Wednesday, Dec. 12 *A white 1984 Datsun was stolen overnight from the 24100 block of Redwood Hwy. The back window of the Datsun was broken. *A fugitive was taken into custody near Rockydale Road and Redwood Hwy. at 3:26 p.m. James Russell Hinds II, 42, had a felony warrant from Grants Pass Department of Public Safety for probation violation (PV) for possession of controlled substance (PCS) – heroin. Hinds was cited for DWS- V and detained in JCJ for his felony warrant and a PV detainer. there was brain matter in- side a residence in the 24000 block of Redwood Hwy. at 2:01 p.m. Fortunately, the substance was food, not brains. Thursday, Dec. 13 *At 4:20 p.m. a known felon was observed leaving property in the 4600 block of Takilma Road. A resident in that area noticed that a black Beretta Px4 Storm subcompact hand gun was missing. *On Dec. 11 a man realized that tools, a battery, a Samsung phone and radio were no longer in his outside shop in the 5400 block of Takilma Road. *A concerned citizen wondered what was up with a U-Haul vehicle parked next to a United Parcel Service truck near Westside Road and Redwood Hwy. at 1:37 p.m. No one appeared to be around. Friday, Dec. 14 *An emotionally dis- turbed individual thought Saturday, Dec. 15 *At 7:24 a.m. a brilliant fellow in a silver-colored Ford F-15 pickup truck drove several feet outside of the fog line for miles along Redwood Hwy. Headlights were bothering him, so he figured if he drove on the shoulder, he could block the light. He was cited for no operator’s license, failure to provide proof of insurance, and failure to maintain lane. *What started as an egg fight hatched into two fel- lows being arrested in the 100 block of N. Kerby Ave- nue at 2:36 p.m. Edgar San- tana, 30, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon, third-degree criminal mis- chief, menacing, harass- ment, and offensive litter- ing. Devon Peterson, 42, was cited for third-degree criminal mischief, menac- ing, harassment, and offen- sive littering. Peterson was also cited for failure to pro- vide proof of insurance and cited for DWS-V. The yolk’s on them; they were both de- tained in JCJ. Sunday, Dec. 16 *There was a landlord/ tenant disturbance in the 200 block of S. Old Stage Road at 10:37 a.m. Jewelry, a marble collection, and a priceless rock with four garnets were reported as stolen. *A man in the 5000 block of Caves Hwy. walked out of his bedroom at 11:48 a.m. and saw a guy wearing jeans and a black hoody- type jacket in his house. The home owner fired a shot into the air with his shotgun, and the bungling burglar screamed and shouted and ran into the woods. I.V.
