Open House scheduled for new I.V. Watershed Council volunteer coordinator
This might be the first time
you hear of Sienna Fitzpatrick,
our local stream team’s newest
member, but it’s not likely to
be your last. That’s because
Sienna has big plans for
helping make our community a
better place to live!
As the new volunteer
coordinator for the I.V.
Watershed Council and the
Conservation District, Sienna
is thrilled to be out in the
community getting to know the
various groups and becoming
familiar with the qualities that
make the Illinois Valley unique.
The heart of her purpose
here is to understand and
ultimately facilitate community
action to improve watershed
health--to uplift the sense
of ownership of the Valley’s
natural landscape, and provide
opportunities for residents
to explore the place they call
home. Over the course of her
11-month position, she will
create regular and special
occasion volunteer restoration
and stewardship events in
collaboration with local
partners. Keep an eye out for
upcoming projects, or contact

volunteer list.
Originally from
Massachusetts, Sienna received
her BA in environmental policy
at Loyola University Chicago
in May 2018. She is excited
to be living on the West Coast
for the first time and hopes to
continue exploring her interests
in photography, botany and
hiking.

On Oct. 3, 1995, the jury in the O.J. Simpson murder
trial in Los Angeles found the former football star not
guilty of the 1994 slayings of his former wife, Nicole
Brown Simpson, and Ronald Goldman (however, Simpson
was later found liable for damages in a civil trial).
On this date:
In 1789, President George Washington declared Nov.
26, 1789, a day of Thanksgiving to express gratitude for
the creation of the United States of America.
In 1863, President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed the
last Thursday in November Thanksgiving Day.
In 1932, Iraq became independent of British
administration.
In 1941, Adolf Hitler declared in a speech in Berlin
that Russia had been “broken” and would “never rise
again.” ‘’The Maltese Falcon” — the version starring
Humphrey Bogart and directed by John Huston —

In 1955, “Captain Kangaroo” and “The Mickey
