Illinois Valley News, Cave Junction, Ore. Wednesday, October 3, 2018 Page A-5 Open House scheduled for new I.V. Watershed Council volunteer coordinator This might be the first time you hear of Sienna Fitzpatrick, our local stream team’s newest member, but it’s not likely to be your last. That’s because Sienna has big plans for helping make our community a better place to live! As the new volunteer coordinator for the I.V. Watershed Council and the Conservation District, Sienna is thrilled to be out in the community getting to know the various groups and becoming familiar with the qualities that make the Illinois Valley unique. The heart of her purpose here is to understand and ultimately facilitate community action to improve watershed health--to uplift the sense of ownership of the Valley’s natural landscape, and provide opportunities for residents to explore the place they call home. Over the course of her 11-month position, she will create regular and special occasion volunteer restoration and stewardship events in collaboration with local partners. Keep an eye out for upcoming projects, or contact her at sienna.ivstreamteam@ gmail.com to be put on our volunteer list. Originally from Massachusetts, Sienna received her BA in environmental policy at Loyola University Chicago in May 2018. She is excited to be living on the West Coast for the first time and hopes to continue exploring her interests in photography, botany and hiking. Come meet Sienna at our Open House and share your community action ideas Wednesday, Oct. 10 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at 219 S. Redwood Hwy in Cave Junction. Refreshments and good conversation provided--all we need is you!
