wallet and purse from inside
the house. The guy told law
enforcement that he was sick
of her stealing from him. He
didn’t know if her purse was
there, but she wouldn’t get
it back until she returned his
wallet and pictures.
Monday, Dec. 4
*An individual checked on
property in the 21000 block of
Redwood Hwy. at 10:47 a.m.,
and found someone breaking
into the garage. When the
busted burglars drove off in
a white Chevy box van, the
caretaker followed them, and
blocked them in near the end
of Warren Road. The occupants
scattered, probably because the
van was reported as stolen, and
it was full of pilfered property.
The homeowner suspects the
former friend of his dead son.
The vulture was observed
taking boxes of belongings
and an aluminum trailer that
belonged to the deceased man.
A concrete contractor witnessed
the theft of an excavator tractor
from the same address. The
van and a black Suburban
were recovered and towed. A
report was filed for first-degree
mischief, first-degree burglary,
and aggravated theft.
*A gal requested a welfare
check on a fellow in the 1100
block of Deer Creek Road. She
claimed she was worried about
his poor health, but what she
Tuesday, Dec. 5
*At 12:24 p.m. a
homeowner in the 7800 block
of Caves Hwy. was upset that
their middle-aged tenant would
not pay rent and she was using
drugs. Advice was provided
regarding civil options for
eviction.
*The deacon at a church in
the 200 block of N. Old Stage
Road reported a gray 1998
Honda Civic that arrived in the
parking lot late Saturday night.
He knew the car did not belong
to any of his members.
*A red and white CRF150F
Honda trail bike was stolen
from the 7800 block of Caves
Hwy. between 9 p.m., Dec,
2 and 1:45 p.m., Dec. 3. The
motorcycle can be identified by
the curled-over clutch handle,
and the back fender that had
been chewed by a dog.
Wednesday, Dec. 6
*A tall gal with long hair
and a bright beanie was trying
to start a vehicle near 625 E.
River St. at 11:39 a.m. She
went to a church, and a helpful
soul gave her gasoline. She and
her large white dog were last
seen waiting for a ride or hitch-
hiking. The white 2007 Nissan
Frontier pickup truck belonged
to Humboldt County Parks
Department, and was stolen
from Eureka, California.
*A driver in a silver-
colored Nissan Titan pickup
truck backed into another
vehicle near N. Hussey Avenue
and W. River Street at 12:59
p.m. He drove off, leaving a
large dent in her front quarter
panel.
Thursday, Dec. 7
*Customers didn’t want
to get out of their cars because
they felt intimidated by some
dudes and their pit bulls who
were loitering in a parking
lot in the 24300 block of
Redwood Hwy. at 12:29 p.m.
One named Middell was cited
to appear in Josephine County
Court for a warrant. He and his
cohorts were warned regarding
trespassing and advised to
move along.

Saturday, Dec. 9
*Melanie A. Galison, 27,
was arrested 4 miles up Lone
Mountain Road at 1:30 p.m.
Galison had a misdemeanor
warrant from Douglas County
for failure to appear, and
she was charged with false
information to police. She was
detained in Josephine County
Jail.
*At 12:01 p.m. a guy
went to 156 Hogue Drive and
retrieved his vehicle from a
friend who used it without
permission. (Some friend.)
*A chap stored his locked
vehicle at a friend’s house in
the 18000 block of Redwood
Hwy. At 2:21 p.m., he reported
that numerous parts were
missing, including the stereo.
Friday, Dec. 8
*No good deed goes
unpunished. On Dec. 2, a gal in
the 900 block of Redland Drive
was approached by a guy who
ran out of gas, so she brought
him to the back of her property
where she had extra fuel. She
thinks the thin fellow, 25, 5-
foot-7, stole her Stihl chainsaw

when she wasn’t looking.
*Siblings in the 100 block
of S. Hussey Avenue were
having a family feud over their
mother’s estate at 11:01 a.m.
*Bogus checks seemed to
be from a payroll account of a
company at 202 S. Redwood
Hwy. The checks were
delivered via Fed-Ex between
Nov. 28 and Dec. 8. The
documents were in response
to Craig’s List ads, and they
had fake signatures and an
inaccurate account number. The
fraudulent funds have appeared
mostly on the East Coast, but
also in the Seattle area.
Sunday, Dec. 10
*A 1999 Toyota 4-Runner
that was stolen from Ray’s
Food Place in Selma was
found crashed into a power
pole near Holton Creek at
11:04 a.m. Reports were filed
for recovered stolen, felony
elude, interfering with POFC,
attempted assault on POFC, and
third-degree escape.
*A fellow was raising
Cain near Glendon Road
and Hathaway Drive at 1:27
p.m., so he was transported
to Josephine County Jail. He
was charged with unauthorized
use of a motor vehicle, felony
elude, interfering, and first-
degree criminal mischief. A 12-
gauge shotgun was placed into
evidence for safekeeping.
*An unoccupied gray and
black Chevy S-10 was seen
against a tree, 10 or 12 feet off
the roadway near Waldo Road
and Rockydale Road at 12:11
p.m.
*The store manager at
205 W. Watkins Street took a
picture of a crummy fellow
who refused to pay for a box
of doughnuts and a foot-long
sandwich on Dec. 9 at 10:30
a.m. He was arrested in the 600
block of Glendon Road at 1:28
p.m. and detained in Josephine
County Jail for third-degree
theft.
