Sunday, Oct. 1
*A visitor from China was
strictly warned regarding speed
limits near Kerby High Pines Trailer
Park at 11:20 a.m.
*At 12:06 p.m. near Jubilee
Park, a deputy from Josephine
County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO)
contacted an individual with
warrants from Grants Pass Dept. of
Public Safety. Eric Paul Hanshaw
Sr., 42, was charged with failure
to appear for second-degree
trespass, attempting to commit a
Class A misdemeanor, and third-
degree theft. Hanshaw also had
a misdemeanor warrant from
Josephine County for failure to
appear for second-degree criminal
mischief and second-degree
trespass. He was cited to appear on
Oct. 18.
*A noisy neighbor was
pounding on walls and threatening
to kill residents in the 700 block of
Caves Hwy. He was detained for
restraining order violation at 12:59
p.m.
*Ronda Suzanne Jackson, 43,
was arrested on a felony warrant
from Josephine County at 1:56 p.m.
in the 300 block of Caves Hwy.
Jackson was detained in Josephine
County Jail for probation violation
for possession of meth.
Monday, Oct. 2
*Folks found their stolen 1989
Ford Ranger XLT, hidden in bushes
at the end of Lurline Lane at 10:01
a.m.
*Two hoodlums in hoodies ran
from law enforcement in the 300
block of Clear Creek Road at 10:46
a.m. One had a long, distinctive
beard and short brown hair. They
left behind a white 1988 Chevy
Sprint, which had been reported as
stolen on Sept. 30.
*A gal’s vehicle was stolen
from Forks State Park on Sept.
29, but at 1:59 p.m. she found it at
Phillip’s Wrecking Yard at 27752
Redwood Hwy.
*A character with a felony
warrant from Josephine County
was apprehended in the 400 block
of S. Junction Avenue at 3:55 p.m.
Donevin Scott Maloney, 29, was
detained in Josephine County Jail
for failure to appear for possession
of meth.
Tuesday, Oct. 3
*A fellow in the 100 block of
Norman Road was not very happy
that several people were in his back
field, cutting down his marijuana
plants at 12:01 p.m. He fired
warning shots into the ground, but
they continued removing the crop
in a white GMC, a red Honda, and
a 20-foot U-Haul. Civil issues are
being worked out with an attorney.
*A white Honda Civic
LX with front-end damage was
abandoned in front of a home in
the 200 block of Stevenson Street
at 7:45 a.m. Witnesses reported
that the car had been involved in a
hit-and-run accident near the high
school. License plates were missing
from the Civic, but Department of
Motor Vehicles identified the car
using the vehicle identification
number. The Honda was reported
stolen on Sept. 27 to Medford
Police Department.
Wednesday, Oct. 4
*Moving can be frustrating,
as experienced by a fellow in the
100 block of Old Stage Road at
12:32 p.m. He was angry and
punched fiberglass, slicing cuts in
his knuckles. He was instructed
to apply direct pressure. (To the
wound, not the fiberglass.)
*There was some excitement
at 2:47 p.m. in the 400 block of
W. River Street. Two guys were
chasing each other, one was armed
with a knife, and the other had a
pole. Cody Luke Workman, 31,
and Floyd Greenlee, 29, were both
charged with disorderly conduct
and cited to appear in lieu of arrest.
They were trespassed from St.
Patrick’s Church property, as well
as the creek and under the bridge.
The knife and stick were seized as
evidence.
*Law enforcement
discontinued chase of a red Eclipse
when its driver nearly struck a
vehicle on Hwy. 199 near Hogue
Drive at 4:29 p.m. A long rifle
was found in the Eclipse that was
abandoned in a ditch in the 500
block of Deer Creek Road, and a
young guy wearing a flat-billed
baseball cap ran away. A report was
filed for elude, reckless driving,
unlawful possession of a firearm,
and foot elude.
Thursday, Oct. 5
*At 12:40 p.m., a concerned
citizen spotted a guy laying on the
sidewalk and not moving near W.
Lister Street and Redwood Hwy. All
the commotion woke Sleepy from
his nap.
*Two dudes were fighting,
kicking, and punching in the 200

p.m. The Jerry Springer-style
squabble involved an ex-girlfriend’s
new boyfriend. Brian Anthony
Mundell, 34, was cited and released
for a misdemeanor warrant from
Josephine County. He was charged
with first and second-degree animal
neglect.
*Medical personnel stopped
to check on a gal who was laying
partially in the road near N. Caves
Avenue and E. Lister Street at 3:46
p.m. She told them to go away, so
they did.
Friday, Oct. 6
*At 9:03 a.m. a caller from the
400 block of Queen of Bronze Road
stated that people were shooting,
but he refused to provide his name
and was hostile to the dispatcher.
*Three homeless characters
were refusing to leave so that folks
could build a haunted house at the
podium at Jubilee Park. They were
cussing and threatening to throw
garbage cans. Melissa Lowenstein,
50, was detained in Josephine
County Jail for second-degree
trespass at 11:10 a.m.
*At 12:32 p.m. a motorist
stopped to see if something was
wrong with his truck near Krauss
Lane and Redwood Hwy. A guy in
a red 4-Runner yelled at him for
checking out his marijuana grow.
*On August 13, silver
communion utensils were reported
stolen. On Oct. 3, a gal at a soup
kitchen claimed that residents on
Arrowhead Drive in O’Brien had a
silver communion set “available”.
(Not much demand for those.)
Saturday, Oct. 7
*At 10:05 a.m., a guy with
black hair and bald on top was
trying to get into locked doors in the
100 block of S. Hussey Avenue. The
disoriented dude was advised that
he was trespassed from residences
at both 128 and 132 Hussey Ave.
*Two dogs were locked in
a teal-green Pontiac Grand Prix
in a gravel lot in the 100 block of
S. Redwood Hwy. at 12:28 p.m.
Their ventilation was a small hole
in plastic covering the broken back
right window.
*A resident of the 200 block
of W. River Street came home to
find a strange vehicle in the yard at
1:48 p.m. Eventually the registered
owner came along and moved her
Infinity SUV to a public parking
area. (Entitled?)
Sunday, Oct. 8
*Rainy Jeanne Gauvain, 44,
was arrested for a misdemeanor
material witness warrant from
Josephine County at 10:50 a.m. in
the 300 block of Clear Creek Road.
*A gunshot has been heard in
the 9300 block of Takilma Road
between 9-9:30 p.m. for the past
four nights. This is unnerving to
nearby residents, who think it might
be someone showing off, or who
knows what. One gal was advised
of her options, and alerted to the
possibility that the shooter could be
trying to scare a wild animal.
*Steven L. Fournier, 46,
aka Thomas Flynn, was detained
in Josephine County Jail for
misdemeanor possession of meth.
He was also trespassed from the
library at 209 W. Palmer St. at 3:44
p.m.

HEATER CHECKLIST
Purchase a heater that is listed by
a qualified testing laboratory.
Keep the heater at least 3 feet
away from anything that can burn,
including people.
Choose a heater with a thermostat
and overheat protection.
Place the heater on a solid surface.
Make sure your heater has an auto
shut-off to turn the heater off if it
tips over.
Keep space heaters out of the way
of foot traffic. Never block an
exit.
Keep children away from the
space heater.
Plug the heater directly into the
wall outlet. Never use an exten-
sion cord.
Space heaters should be turned off
and unplugged when you leave the
room or go to bed.
