March Fourth to headline new Turning Moon Festival

Treehouse Treesort, has been hard
at work planning and organizing an
upcoming event called the Turning
Moon Festival. It will be held at
the resort Aug. 4, 2017. Although
Kreifels is being assisted by some
of his co-workers, he’s the primary
individual responsible for its
success.

The weight from the
overturned vehicle was resting
on the driver’s head and as a
consequence, he was having
trouble breathing. “Just
imagine being compressed
from your head down and the
entire weight of the vehicle
was just pressing on it. So
you’ve got 2,000 pounds
pressing on your head and you
can’t breathe. Everything’s
just closing down—plus
whatever multitude of injuries
he might have had.”

mostly due to concerns regarding
space within the venue.
When the event was initially
proposed, in August of last year,
Kreifels knew exactly what bands
he wanted to pursue. With a little
grit and determination, all of the
originally planned groups were
coaxed into playing the show,
no doubt enticed by the chance
to stay in the famous treehouses.
“This is the party of the year in
the Valley. This is the party of the
year in Southern Oregon. They just
don’t know it yet,” Kreifels said,
emphasizing the noteworthy bands
that will be attending.
The Out ‘n’ About
Treehouse Treesort used to host
annual, and rather infamous,
July Fourth parties, but back in
2015 management decided to
discontinue the event. The primary
March Fourth Marching Band,
Polyrhythmics, World’s Finest and
Reeble Jar. In addition to musical
entertainment, there will also be a
troupe of fire dancers, Flamequest,
adding their talent to the show.
Flamequest recently made an
appearance at the Barter Faire in
Selma.
Gates to the event will open
up at 2 p.m. and music will be
played from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
There is camping available for up
to 300 tents but fireworks and pets
are not allowed. Tickets are on
sale for $35 at Wheels A Turnin’,
Coffee Heaven, Good Earth

treehouses.com. If the event is a
success, it will be held annually.
The Turning Moon Festival
will also be host to vendors selling
food, refreshments and alcoholic
beverages. Vendors confirmed to
be in attendance so far are Rosie’s
Inferno Pizza, Bobbalou’s Burgers,
male passenger who had been
thrown from the vehicle had
his leg pinned underneath the
car.
After acquiring a spare
tire from one of the civilian
onlookers, Ismaili, with the
help of several concerned
citizens at the scene, lifted
up the car and slid the tire
underneath, thereby propping
up the vehicle. When the car
reason for discontinuation was that
the parties were simply getting
out of hand. With an alleged 3,000
party goers in 2015, most of whom
were drinking alcohols and lighting
off fireworks, it’s not hard to see
why.
This event, much more
controlled, organized and with
only 1,500 tickets available, aims
to take its place. To keep the show
safe, civil and in hand, Kriefels has
also hired private security.
The Turning Moon Festival
derives its name from a cannabis-
related phrase which, according
to Kreifels’ narrative, is often said
in the Valley. As the story goes,
the turning moon is slang for the
full moon in August that signals
cannabis is about to go to flower.
“What else are we going to call
it?” Kreifels asked, concluding the
interview with a dash of rhetorical
humor.

explained, further adding
that he unwittingly started
giving directions to the local

on scene. Ismaili explained
the situation to them and,
using the right tools, he
and the local firefighters
successfully extracted the
driver from the vehicle.
Ismaili feels confident that
somehow quick to follow his
lead. “It was kind of weird.
It didn’t don on me until I
looked around that I was the
only person in sweats and a
T-shirt.”
Recently arriving home
from his vacation, Ismaili
reported that his son’s
wedding went very well and
that, fortunately, there were no
incidents on the way back.
