Tales from the Rural Patrol

Monday, April 17
*At 8:54 a.m. a chap phoned
911 from the 1500 block of
Rockydale Road. He advised that he
had a state-wide felony warrant out
of Jackson County Sheriff’s Office,
and if law enforcement wanted to
come get him, they could. He is an
absconded corrections offender for
felon in possession of a weapon, and
marked as a potential armed career
criminal. Josephine County Sheriff’s
Office (JCSO) logged as beyond
available resources (BAR).
*The owner of a business at
216 S. Redwood Hwy. spotted some
type of explosives or fireworks in
the planter box behind the building
at 9:41 a.m. The suspicious items
turned out to be spent fireworks.
*A couple of timber thieves
removed several cords of wood
from private property near Forest
Creek Road and Thompson Creek
Road on April 16. At first the land
owner was going to work things out
after hearing their “sob story”, but
when he learned that this was not
the first time they had stolen from
them, he was no longer sympathetic.
He tracked the culprits in a black
and red Ford pickup truck to the
100 block of Hogue Drive, where
he located and recovered his wood
through a civil compromise at 1:42
p.m.
*A deputy checked the 200
block of W. Palmer Street at 1:11
p.m.
*Law enforcement was out
with a group near the back of Jubilee
Park at 1:34 p.m.
*A gold-colored Suburban was
parked between Shop Smart Food
Warehouse and Junction Inn at 1:49
p.m.
*A motorist in a gold-colored
Toyota Camry was warned for
failure to signal and no insurance at
4:19 p.m. on June Drive.
*Law enforcement pursued a
gold-colored Subaru Legacy that
was headed on Walters Drive at 4:26
p.m. Norbert Emileo Croft, 53, was
detained at Josephine County Jail on
a felony Oregon state parole board
warrant for parole violation for
second-degree kidnapping.

Tuesday, April 18
*A deputy patrolled a mile up
Page Creek at Hogue Meadows at
9:49 a.m.
*A shirtless dude was
wandering in the middle of
Rockydale Road at 10:59 a.m. Brian
Thomas Moore, 34, was detained at
Josephine County Jail at the request
of his probation officer.
*A 19-year-old with shoulder-
length dark hair appeared to be
mentally unstable because he was
standing, staring into space, and not
responding to any kind of inquiries.
The space-case was last seen
wearing a dark green fleece jacket
as he walked northbound on the fog
line of the 29000 block of Redwood
Hwy. at 11:06 a.m.
*Law enforcement checked
three miles up Takilma Road at
11:11 a.m.
WHERE’S
THE ALARM?
The volunteers and staff of the
Illinois Valley Fire District
Responded to these recent Emergency calls
*At 11:16 a.m. a gal reported
a stalker in her backyard in the 400
block of Caves Hwy. The menace
assaulted her Feb. 19, and has been
threatening to kill her and her family.
She tried to get a restraining order
(RO) against him March 3, but has
not been able to get him served. He
was incarcerated in Medford, but he
was released before the paperwork
was delivered. The bully left in a
newer black Chevy Impala with
California plates.
*The owner of a vacant lot in
the 300 block of Lurline complained
of trespassers and squatters who
were dumping trash and cutting trees
on his property west of Laurel Road.
He was concerned that confronting
them would not be safe, but he
needed them removed. The property
at the end of the cul-de-sac was not
posted, but will be soon.
*The driver of a gray and
silver-colored 1990 Ford F-250
pickup truck backed into another
truck in the parking lot of the
Holland Store April 14. Video
camera footage captured images of
the incident, and a driver provided
his insurance information.
*A stolen vehicle was
recovered and towed from (guess
where) the 4500 block of Waldo
Road at 12:30 p.m.
*A gal parked her blue Ford
Explorer with a friend on Hogue
Drive. When she checked her SUV
April 14, the doors were open, the
ignition had been drilled, and the
battery removed. She secured her
car the best she could, but when she
returned the next day, it was gone.
Witnesses saw it being towed away,
and named a suspect who lives on
Waters Creek Road.
*At 12:59 p.m. a motorist was
warned for an improper turn at the
intersection of Schumacher Street
and S. Sawyer Avenue.
*American Medical Response
transported a guy who fell and
sustained a head injury at 1:06 p.m.
at 110 N. Redwood Hwy.
*While a woman was in the
hospital three weeks ago, burglars
stole tools from her home at 110
Hathaway Dr. The low-lives also
damaged windows and door locks on
her gold-colored Chevy van.
*A deputy followed up on
the blue Ford Explorer stolen
from Hogue Drive, but suspect
information was very limited at 2:56
p.m.
*At 3:05 p.m. a Californian
was warned for expired registration
tags near Takilma Road and Holland
Loop.
*The driver of a red pickup
truck near Redwood Hwy. and
Rockydale Road was cited for no
operator’s license at 3:10 p.m. He
was also warned for failure to carry
proof of registration and insurance,
and failure to signal.
*The operator of a gold-colored
Honda with California plates was
warned for failure to carry proof of
registration. He failed to signal at
the intersection of S. Redwood Hwy.
and Caves Hwy. at 3:35 p.m.
*A fellow who had been
searching for his female Siberian
Husky for a month finally received a
tip. When he drove to the 1000 block
of Lakeshore Drive, his dog jumped
into his white 2006 Chevy Express
van. The resident admitted that
he found the dog, but dragged the
canine from the van and threatened
to kill the owner. The dog’s master

*Hull and Hull Funeral
Directors responded to a call of a
deceased person at 24542 Redwood
Hwy. at 8:41 a.m.
*An employee with Josephine
County Department of Public Works
was fixing signs near a small bridge
in the 2200 block of Dick George
Road at 9:47 a.m. Underneath the
bridge he found a five-gallon bucket
with a funky rotting odor, containing
what appeared to be guts from a
poached animal. The property owner
stated that he would dispose of the
contents.
*At 9:50 a.m. a welfare check
was requested for a gal in the 4600
block of Waldo Road, regarding a
possible overdose that was never
reported. She was OK and did not
require JCSO assistance.
*Clackamas County Sheriff
Office requested that JCSO serve
a misdemeanor warrant for third-
degree theft to a fugitive in the 100
block of S. Hussey Avenue at 11:29
a.m. Josephine County Jail would
not detain the criminal, and the
incident was logged as BAR.
