Sunday, March 26
*Concerned citizens phoned
911 regarding a double-wide mobile
home which was being moved from
Rough and Ready to the 1000 block
of Lakeshore Drive at 9:58 a.m.
The home was so wide that it was
hitting trees, speed limit signs, and
mailboxes. There were doubts that
the trailer would be able to make
it over the spillway bridge at Lake
Selmac.
*A deputy investigated a case at
10:33 a.m. at 222 W. Lister Street.
*At 1:24 p.m. Paul Weller came
to the rescue and maneuvered the
mobile home from the 1000 block of
Lakeshore Drive to its destination.
The original movers had a valid
permit from Oregon Department of
Transportation, and they cleaned
their debris from the transit path.
They provided a log of mailbox
damages and signs removed, as well
as their plans to reseat them once the
move was complete.
*At 1:38 p.m., a deputy
gathered information at the Illinois
Valley Substation at 222 W. Lister
Street.
*Two observant witnesses
reported a crime to a deputy at the
I.V. Substation at 3 p.m.
*Everything was OK in the 200
block of Ollis Road at 5:11 p.m.
Outside the Valley
*Five situations.
Monday, March 27
*An ex-wife took her 3-year-
old child out of state to Pennsylvania,
which was against a custody order.
The boy’s father has a lawyer and
an open case with Department of
Human Services, and will notify
Josephine County Sheriff’s Office
(JCSO) if the issue is not resolved
through the courts by the end of the
week.
*Lakeshore Drive was clear
when a deputy checked the area at
11:14 a.m.
*The 3000 block of Lakeshore
Drive also passed inspection at 11:33
a.m.
*The driver of a white Chevy
Avalanche was not maintaining lane
at MP 17 on Hwy. 199 at 11:36 a.m.
The work truck hauling PVC pipe
with red tape was seen traveling
through Cave Junction at 11:50 a.m.
*A shady character wearing a
camo jacket, hat, and brown Carhartt
pants was spotted walking on Hwy.
199 near Dollar General at 11:52
a.m., but he blended into the scenery
before law enforcement arrived
minutes later.
*At 11:58 a.m. a deputy
checked a trail system near North
Sawyer Avenue by the water plant,
but he came back empty-handed.
*When a guy in Jubilee Park
spotted a deputy at 2:08 p.m., he
dropped a briefcase. He agreed to a
consent search, and two empty rinse
baggies were found. The deputy told
him to bring the empty briefcase to
Cave Junction City Hall.
*Law enforcement checked the
Cave Junction branch of the U.S.
Post Office at 2:35 p.m.
*At 2:48 p.m., a young, dark-
haired female passenger in a black
Audi had her head hanging out of
the window, until the speeding driver
pulled her back into the car in the
5000 block of Deer Creek Road.
WHERE’S
THE ALARM?
The volunteers and staff of the
Illinois Valley Fire District
Responded to these recent Emergency calls
*A fellow wearing black leather
was staggering around, singing,
throwing things, and had been
drinking for 90 minutes in the 100
block of Ollis Road. At 3:08 p.m., he
left on a red motorcycle with leather
side bags.
*JCSO provided community
oriented policing at 112 S. Redwood
Hwy. at 3:31 p.m.
*A gal wearing a peach-colored
shirt and dark hoodie might have
been intoxicated or high when she
was cutting a tree with a saw in front
of the Evergreen Elementary school
at 4:27 p.m. She told deputies that
she was going home to the 200 block
of Palmer Street, but they reminded
her that she could not go back there
because she had been trespassed
from that location. (You can never go
home again.)
*The driver of a silver-colored
vehicle was pulled over at 280 N.
Old Stage Road at 5:02 p.m. He was
cited into Cave Junction Municipal
Court for failure to register a vehicle,
and violation of driving while license
was suspended. He was also warned
for failure to carry insurance and
registration.
Outside the Valley
*Twenty incidents.
Tuesday, March 28
*The City of Siloam Springs
Police Department contacted JCSO
regarding a burglary case that
occurred Oct. 11, 2016. Firearms and
gold coins were reported missing
at that time. The victim’s Bank
of America credit card statement
included fraudulent charges from
convenience stores in Josephine
County. Two charges were in Grants
Pass, and the third happened at the
76 station in Selma. Other agency
detectives are providing extensive
investigation, but JCSO does not
have available resources to do so.
*A motorist was warned for
white lights on the rear of his vehicle
after he was pulled over in the 300
block of S. Redwood Hwy. at 12:50
p.m.
*A report was filed at 1:14
p.m. at the I.V. substation because
something was found.
*Between 10 a.m. March 26
and 11 a.m. March 27, a dark-haired
woman moved back into a residence
in the 200 block of W. Palmer Street,
but not for long. Jenny Thomas, 45,
was arrested for criminal trespass at
5:01 p.m.
*A motorist in a big truck with
a huge bumper apparently failed to
leave his name at the scene of an
accident at a bar in the 24000 block
of Redwood Hwy. between 9-11:30
p.m. on March 25. The owner of a
damaged SUV hoped that security
cameras at the bar might be able to
spot the license plate number.
*Alert personnel at Bank of
the Cascades noted an unusual
transaction on the account of a
customer in the 900 block of Caves
Hwy. A non-customer in Nevada
attempted to withdraw a large sum
of money on March 17. The staff
did not recognize the voice as their
client, and the suspicious character
was unable to answer security
questions, so the account was flagged
for review. The $25,000 check was
not paid, and a welfare check was
requested for their customer. She was
fine, but law enforcement advised
that she contact her bank for more
information on the status of her
account.

provided to the dispatcher matched
with a Subaru.
*A transient had been sleeping

building in CJ for weeks. He was set
up with rugs and cardboard boxes,
until he had to move on at 1:12 p.m.
when the deputy trespassed him from

thief can retrieve his documents at
