*At 4:41 a.m. an anonymous
caller from the Junction Inn notified
Oregon State Police (OSP) that two
hoodlums in dark hoodies broke
into Shop Smart in Cave Junction.
Josephine County Sheriff’s Office
(JCSO) received the fax at 9 a.m.
(Crooks were finished shopping by
then.)

and were exposed in the 100 block of
Deer Creek Road.
*Illinois Valley Building
Supply, Speedy Mart and Holland
Store were all burglarized overnight,
and the suspects shot at the owner
of Holland Store. The thieves were
observed across the street from
Speedy Mart at 10:03 a.m. One wore
an olive-colored jacket, gray pants,
and black and white tennis shoes.
The other wore tan pants, a gray
hooded jacket, and dark-colored
shoes. One of them cut his hand
while breaking into a knife case.
(Serves him right.) A report was filed
for second-degree burglary and first-
degree theft.
*The shop owner observed
thieves via surveillance cameras
at Holland Store at 7:30 p.m. on
March 19. He followed the getaway
truck, which appeared to be a blue
1987 Toyota or Chevy with a black
square-tube lumber rack and no
license plates. When they turned onto
Beaver Meadow Road, they fired at
his vehicle with a handgun, possibly
a .357 or .38. They also threw items
from the truck, trying to stop him
from following them. One of the
three passengers wore Carhartt-
style pants. The truck was located
on Fredrick Court, and the tenant
explained that a friend loaned her the
truck to take trash to the dump. She
provided consent to search the truck,
where two spent casings were found.
A report was filed for third-degree
theft.
*The driver of a Honda Civic
ran a red light, and was pulled over at
W. River Street and N. Kerby Avenue
at 10:42 a.m. He admitted that he had
no insurance, and he was cited for
violation of driving while license was
suspended (DWS/V).
*A welfare check was requested
for an 80-year-old man in the 1100
block of Deer Creek Road at 10:59

process for marijuana growers on his
property.
*At 12:50 p.m. a guy phoned
911 for help because he and his
girlfriend were in an argument in
the 100 block of Pugetville Road.

advised of their options.
*JCSO transported Gabriel
Cooper, 38, from 202 S. Redwood
Hwy. to Josephine County Jail after
he ran from Grants Pass Department
of Public Safety (GPDPS) at 1:35

vehicle is now titled to another
person. He was advised to proceed in
civil court, and warned for initiating
a false report. He tried again later, in
the hopes of dealing with a different
deputy, but this time the old, non-
valid title was seized.

*A panic button was pressed,
activating the OnStar feature in a
purple 2004 Chevy Silverado parked
