Sunday, Feb. 19
*Josephine County
Sheriff’s Office (JCSO)
provided community oriented
policing (COP) at the O’Brien
Country Store at 11:44 a.m.
*Grants Pass Depart-
ment of Public Safety (GP-
DPS) contacted the registered
owner of a stolen vehicle
which was recovered at 3205
Waldo Road at 4:48 p.m. The
jalopy was destroyed, with
flat tires and broken win-
dows, and the interior and
parts were ripped out.

*Nine calls.
Monday, Feb. 20
*Two stripped vehicles
were found on Waldo Road
behind the cemetery at 9:52
a.m. One was the recovered
vehicle from Feb. 19, and the
newly-found treasure was a
blue Subaru.
*An ex-husband was
sending harassing text mes-
sages to a gal in the 200 block
of Kerby Street at 10:18 a.m.
The feud was over posses-
sions left behind from a
divorce. He was warned for
telephonic harassment. (Try:

phone number.)
*A theft occurred in the
900 block of Kerby Mainline
Road between 4:30 p.m. on
Feb. 17 and 8:30 a.m. on Feb.
18. Two gates were broken
open, and fencing was dam-
aged at a county-owned yard.
Various small items were
pilfered. The incident was
tagged as beyond available
resources by JCSO.
*At 11:02 a.m. it was
reported that a vacant resi-
dence in the 300 block of N.
Sawyer Avenue was broken
into on Feb. 17 and 18. A list
was obtained of the stolen
property, and a report was
filed for first-degree burglary
and second-degree theft.
*Six or eight cattle
were moooving down the
6700 block of Westside Road
at 11:37 a.m.
*An abandoned vehicle
was towed from the 35000
block of Hwy. 199 at 1:11
p.m.
*A deputy seized
switched license plates during
a traffic stop at 1:35 p.m. in
the 200 block of Millie Street.
The motorist’s probation of-
ficer was contacted regarding
this latest escapade.
*There was a 911 hang-
up call at 1:40 p.m. from
South Old Stage Road.
*JCSO patrolled Bear
Creek and Thompson Creek
at 1:40 p.m.
*The driver of a white
Toyota was warned for an
unsafe U-turn at 140 N. Red-
wood Hwy. at 1:42 p.m.
*There was a traffic
stop at 2:01 p.m. at 409 S.
Redwood Hwy. A motorist
in a Dodge pickup truck was
warned for expired registra-
tion and defective equipment,
a right rear tail light.
*Law enforcement
checked 24542 Redwood
Hwy. at 2:54 p.m.
*SOS reported alarms
at the Illinois Valley High
School locker room doors at
3:23 p.m. The wrestling team
held the doors open with a
towel.
*At 3:30 p.m. an ag-
gressive driver in a white
Ford crew-cab pickup truck
nearly hit another vehicle
while passing on a double
yellow line at MP 23 on Hwy.
199.
*An employee in the
100 block of N. Redwood
Hwy. reported a transient
laying right up against the
building at 4:48 p.m. When
he was told to move along,
the vagrant started crying
and claimed that he couldn’t
move his legs. Eric Hanshaw,
41, was cited for GPDPS
warrants, and transported by
American Medical Response.

Tuesday, Feb. 21
*An ex ruffled the
feathers of a mama bird in
the 100 block of Finch Road
when he tried to contact their
children via email on Feb.
14, 17, and 19. His Facebook
and Instagram postings did
not constitute a violation of
the restraining order (RO)
from Deschutes County.
*At 9:36 p.m. a red
Honda Accord was moved af-
ter being parked for a week in
the fire lane in the 100 block
of N. Junction Avenue.
*There was an alarm at
9:50 a.m. at Higher Aspira-
tions Farm in the 28000 block
of Redwood Hwy.
*Another call was
received at 10:15 a.m. regard-
ing a marijuana processing
location in the 28000 block
of Redwood Hwy. JCSO
informed the caller that their
response protocol did not
include responding to alarms,
but he was highly concerned
that a robbery could be occur-
ring and that his caretakers
could be in danger.
*Illinois Valley Fire
District got hosed when
equipment valued at $6,000
was stolen from a fire truck
in the 600 block of Caves
Hwy. A report was filed for
unauthorized use of a motor
vehicle, first-degree theft, and
second-degree mischief.
*At 12:09 p.m. there
was a stroller on the side of
the road in the 1700 block of
Lakeshore Drive.
*A vehicle that was
stolen from Del Norte County
in California was located in
the 100 block of Hogue Drive
at 1:18 p.m.
*Law enforcement
checked on a suspicious
vehicle near Hogue Drive and
Pearsoll Lane at 2:32 p.m.
*A report for second-
degree mischief was filed be-
cause of damage done to the
outside of a building at 121 S.

destruction at 4 p.m. from
Lorna Byrne Middle School
(because everybody knows
that smoking ain’t allowed in
school).

Wednesday, Feb. 22
*Things heated up
quickly at Illinois Valley High
School when an authorized
burn pile was placed too close
to an old shed at 10:54 a.m.
*A deputy patrolled the
west side of the Eight Dollar
Bridge River Access at 11:38
a.m.
*Josephine County
Animal Control picked up
a small puppy that was left
behind in a Ford pickup
truck in the 1000 block of
Laurel Road at 12:10 p.m.
A Husqvarna chainsaw was
confiscated to determine its
rightful owner.
*Video surveillance
captured the images of a guy
trespassing in the 200 block
of W. River Street at 7:36
a.m. on Feb. 20. The sneak
was seen creeping onto a
front porch, stealing a pro-
pane burner, and destroying a
dummy surveillance camera.
He slithered off to the apart-
ments behind the Western
Plaza. A report was filed for
third-degree theft, and sec-
ond-degree mischief.
*At 9:30 a.m. a gal
saw a dark-colored SUV hit
her car, which caused a small

dent. She claimed that the
driver left the scene, and she
will notify JCSO if she sees
the vehicle again.

Thursday, Feb. 23
*A concerned citizen
relayed information about a
bully with an AR or AK-type
firearm near Waldo Road
and Takilma Road at 10:10
a.m. The armed menace had
long scruffy brown hair and a
beard, and he was hitting a fe-
male with the butt of the gun.
He threw a BMX bike off the
road, then tossed a dog in the
air. The deputy was unable to
locate them in the area.
*Various trespassers
have taken occupancy of a
home in the 200 block of W.
Palmer Street, according to a
real estate agent at 10:49 a.m.
Assistance from law enforce-
ment was needed to remove
the squatters and secure the
property.
*A 2010 BMW 740
sedan was abandoned in the
900 block of Indian Creek
Road between 8 a.m. on Feb.
18 and 10:30 a.m. on Feb.
21. The registered owner
was aware of the location of
his car, which appeared to
have been used for off-road
joy-riding. The license plates
were missing, and the interior
was a mess, but there was no
apparent exterior damage at
10:57 a.m.
