Sunday, Aug. 14
*At 9:15 a.m. a guy
went to the 100 block of
Kerby Street to retrieve
his cell phone, which had
reportedly been stolen
the previous night. He
did not wish to wait for a
deputy to accompany him
to the location. Mission
accomplished.
*A motorized hang
glider was buzzing 200 feet
over the tree line above
residences in the 200 block
of Logan Cut Drive at
10:25 a.m. One woman was
concerned for her neighbor,
who is a veteran. Josephine
County Sheriff’s Office
(JCSO) left a message at
the airport to see if the pilot
could possibly change his
flight pattern.
*JCSO provided
assistance of some kind at
118 Caves Hwy. at 10:33
a.m.
*The driver of a Focus
was not very focused, thereby
receiving a warning for
failure to observe a traffic
control device at 10:40 a.m.
*The back door was
open on a utility truck parked
in the DMV parking lot,
and no one was around at
10:53 a.m. A landscaper was
forewarned to secure his
vehicle. (Guess he doesn’t
read the I.V. News Police
Blotter.)
*A snoopy landlady
reported that she believed her
tenants stole a white Saab,
and that they were hiding it
in the 100 block of S. Sawyer
Avenue at 2:17 p.m. She was
also under the (mistaken)
impression that deputies
could enforce her recent
eviction notice. (So officers,
while you’re here?) She
was advised of the eviction
process and will follow up
through the court system.
*At 4:59 p.m.
trespassers were mostly
likely stuck after they
bypassed a “moat” that had
been created by a backhoe at
the Pomeroy Dam on Q Bar
X Ranch property.
Outside the Valley
*Thirteen calls.
Monday, Aug. 15
*A silver-colored car
was repossessed at 10:22
a.m. from the 23000 block of
Redwood Hwy.
*The motorist in a red
Nissan Sentra at MP 25 on
Hwy. 199 at 10:32 a.m. was
cited into Josephine County
Circuit Court for driving on
a suspended license (DWSV).
* At 10:53 a.m. Jeremy
Whyte was threatening
to shoot someone with a
shotgun in the 400 block of
Aquarius Way. Whyte, 32,
was detained at Josephine
County Jail at 3 p.m. for
domestic menacing and
violation of a no-contact
order.
Outside the Valley
*Nineteen incidents.
Tuesday, Aug. 16
*A trusting soul loaned
a John Deere 310A backhoe
worth $15,000 to a chap who
owned property in the 100
block of Airport Drive. Much
to his surprise, he learned
that the property had been
sold, and the shyster had
flown the coop to Argentina.
The equipment may have
been sold at an auction
between March 1, 2015 and
Aug. 8, 2016.
*On Aug. 8, a guy in the
3400 block of Crooks Creek
Road was served a restraining
order. When he moved out,
he took a German Shepherd
with him. An amended
restraining order will need
to be filed to determine who
will have custody of the
canine.
*Surveillance video
cameras captured images
of a destructive dude
throwing a wooden pallet
through the glass door of a
business in the 300 block of
S. Redwood Hwy. at 12:31
a.m. The window-shopper
looked around the store,
but apparently wasn’t in
the market for auto parts. A
report was filed for second-
degree attempted burglary,
and second-degree criminal
mischief.
*JCSO did foot patrol
through Jubilee Park at 10:49
a.m.
*A dedicated dad was
concerned for the safety
and welfare of his 10-year-
old son who was visiting
his mother in the CJ area.
The father learned that she
had been kicked out of her
residence due to drug use,
and that they were living out
of her dirty white van. He
found his boy and brought
him home.
*At 1:11 p.m. a city
code violation occurred in the
300 block of Millie Street.
*A driver’s failure
to display license plates
and failure to carry proof
of insurance turned into a
citation following a traffic
stop in the 200 block of W.
Watkins Street at 2:19 p.m.
*There were no details
provided for a logged call at
2:32 p.m.
*Operator error
triggered an alarm at 2:36
p.m. at Evergreen Elementary
School at 2:36 p.m.
*A motorist in a black
Honda was pulled over on
Redwood Hwy. at Rockydale
Road at 4:02 p.m. He was
cited for operating a vehicle
without driving privileges
and warned for improper
display.
*JCSO checked on the
status of an individual in
Jubilee Park at 4:18 p.m.
*At 4:31 p.m. in the
300 block of Caves Hwy., the
operator of a black Nissan
Sentra was cited for driving
without privileges and
warned for an improper turn.
Outside the Valley
*Seventeen situations.
Wednesday, Aug. 17
*At 9:29 a.m. it was
reported that someone had
passed away in the 100 block
of White Oak Drive.
*The contact person at
110 Deer Creek Road was not
available at 11:59 a.m.
*A deputy patrolled the
area from Cedar Flat to Deer
Creek Road at 1:17 p.m. A
motorhome was tagged with
a warning at 2:33 p.m. for
being at a location off Illinois
River Road for more than 14
days.
*Chauncey J.
McKinney, 20, was detained
at Josephine County Jail
following an arrest in the 300
block of N. Sawyer Avenue at
2:13 p.m. Warrants included
one from Josephine County
for second-degree criminal
mischief, and another from
Oregon State Police (OSP)
for charges of failure to
appear, eluding police,
reckless driving and reckless
endangering. An additional
charge of unauthorized use of
a motor vehicle was added to
the list.
*JCSO served an
individual with a restraining
order (RO) in the 4300 block
of Lakeshore Drive at 2:50
p.m.
*The RO could not be
delivered at 4:36 p.m. in the
37400 block of Redwood
Hwy.
*The recipient of an RO
in the 1600 block of Happy
Camp Road was probably not
happy at 5 p.m.
*A vehicle was pulled
over by a deputy at Caves
Hwy. and S. Redwood Hwy.
at 5:06 p.m.
*An employee at the
Illinois Valley Safe House
Alliance received a call at
5:10 p.m. from a woman who
reported that her husband
was outside their residence
with a baseball bat. The wife
claimed it was only a verbal
disagreement, but to be on
the safe side, JCSO stood
guard in the 200 block of
S. Caves Avenue while she
gathered some items to stay
elsewhere.
Outside the Valley
* A dozen entries.
Thursday, Aug. 18
*A tenant who had been
evicted from the 28400 block
of Redwood Hwy. returned at
6:30 a.m. to retrieve vehicles
and property.
*Sounds of gunfire or
explosions emanated from a
big white house near the 300
block of June Drive at 11:52
a.m. A neighbor was very
concerned about fire safety,
rightly so with three different
kinds of weapons and some
kind of a cannon being fired
in the vicinity.
