Charges can be amended or dismissed.) *** Saturday, July 2 *At 9:51 a.m., a deaf man requested help from Speedy Mart employees, who enlisted the aid of a hearing-impaired relative to translate. A hoodlum with a history of burglary and assault broke into a house in the 300 block of S. Caves Avenue. A copy of the no-contact order was emailed to the deputy. The crook took a laptop, tried to steal a car and left before law enforcement arrived. *Everything was fine at the Swinging Bridge area on Illinois River Road at 12:51 p.m. *A warning was given for no seat belt at Swinging Bridge at 1:48 p.m. *An Acura driver was warned for speeding at 7:27 p.m. on Hwy. 199 at Eight Dollar Road. Outside the Valley * Thirty-four log items. Sunday, July 3 *At 12:30 a.m., an engaged couple were relaxing and dancing to a good band at a bar in the 100 block of S. Redwood Hwy. They noticed an underage minor in the bar, and alerted the bartender and door man to the situation. The minor’s sister was unhappy that her sibling had been ratted out, and threw a glass of alcohol, hitting the informer near her eye. A cat fight, complete with punching, rib-kicking and hair-yanking ensued. Reports will follow for fourth-degree assault, with a referral to the district attorney for second-degree assault. Surveillance video will be obtained from the establishment. *Lake Selmac was patrolled at 11:25 a.m. *A driver may have been under the influence of something when they backed into a tree at a high rate of speed. (You think?) This incident occurred at 12:25 p.m. on Lakeshore Drive. *Medical providers were assisted with a confused and uncooperative patient in a tent in the 500 block of Udee Road at 12:59 p.m. *Law enforcement checked the Eight Dollar area at 1:20 p.m. *Investigation continued from 2 until 5:35 p.m. along the Illinois River Road. *At 2:40 p.m., the driver of a Ford Escape on Hwy. 199 at Lakeshore Drive was warned for speeding and failure to notify the Department of Motor Vehicles of change of address. *The operator of a silver- colored truck was driving while uninsured, failed to display license plates and did not signal a right turn. A citation into CJ Municipal Court was the result of the traffic stop at Schumacher Street and S. Sawyer Avenue at 3:25 p.m. *Minors were cited for possession of alcohol while partying at the Swinging Bridge at the Illinois River Trailhead at 3:26 p.m. One teen was on formal juvenile probation in Curry County. Their parents were contacted, and one step-father took custody of the rascals. *An unnamed fugitive was in custody at W. Watkins Street and S. Redwood Hwy. at 3:54 p.m. Other rabble-rousers were cited for drinking in public. *There was a domestic dispute in the 17000 block of Redwood Hwy. at 5:09 p.m. A mother was picking up her kids, but her ex was throwing things at her car and trying to hit her. *On Friday, July 1, a caretaker stole a cell phone and assaulted her client in the 300 block of Stevenson Street. The client said it was his Obama phone that he uses for medical purposes. He would try to get his phone back on his own, because his caretaker is a transient so law enforcement would have a difficult time locating her. The volunteers and staff of the Illinois Valley Fire District Responded to these recent Emergency calls Monday, July 4 *At 2:53 p.m., a wacko woman was having a holiday parade-of-one, walking in traffic down S. Hussey Avenue and W. Watkins Street. She was cooperative with law enforcement, promising to stay out of the roadway as she continued home to Hanby Lane. *A speedster was cited into CJ Municipal Court for driving 65 mph in a 45 mph zone on Redwood Hwy. at Hanby Lane at 4:17 p.m. (Hope that parader was out of the middle of the road by then). *Law enforcement was flagged down at Hanby Lane and Redwood Hwy. at 4:30 p.m. with a driving complaint. Outside the Valley *Sixteen incidents. Tuesday, July 5 *A motorcyclist was warned for violation of the basic rules of the road at milepost 35 on Hwy. 199 at 10:53 a.m. *At 11:03 a.m., a trailer was parked just after the runway on Airport Drive, along Powerline Road towards Seats Dam. Bureau of Land Management will be notified. *The transient laying under the tree in the 25600 block of Redwood Hwy. was an unwanted guest, especially since he had been caught shoplifting there the night before. The deputy advised that he leave the property, and if he returned, he would be trespassed. *A bully in the 5800 block of Deer Creek Road grabbed his ex by the neck and threw her to the ground at 12:04 p.m. The thug then tried to stab her with a wooden kabob stick. (Shish!) Law enforcement provided civil standby protection as she got her keys and left of her own free will. She planned on obtaining a restraining order in the morning. *There was a restraining order served in the 900 block of N. Old Stage Road at 12:54 p.m. *The search continued at 12:56 p.m. for a camp that was reported near the foot bridge at Airport Road, off Powerline Road Outside the Valley * Fourteen log entries. Thursday, July 7 *Law enforcement patrolled the Little Falls Trailhead Campground at 3:56 p.m., the Eight Dollar Bridge Access on the west side at 4:13 p.m., and the Josephine Camp Campground at 4:23 p.m. Everything was fine, as was the Interpretative Trail at the Eight Dollar Bridge Access at 5:07 p.m. *At 5:41 p.m., a Honda driver in the 500 block of Eight Dollar Road was warned for improper display and advised to contact the court and Department of Motor Vehicle regarding a suspended violation. Outside the Valley *Twenty-two situations. Wednesday, July 6 *Investigation transpired at a bar in the 100 block of S. Redwood Hwy. at 11:46 a.m. *There was a domestic violence situation involving a couple in a 90’s model Jeep Wrangler in the 3700 block of Rockydale Road at 11:58 a.m. *More data developed at the drinking establishment in the 100 block of S. Redwood Hwy. at 12:34 p.m. *Two people were disagreeing over the remodel of their residence in the 300 block of Pine Cone Drive at 1:10 p.m. Apparently the boyfriend’s idea of an overhaul was breaking things, and the demolition dude was scaring a mother and her children. *At 1:32 p.m. a motorist in the 200 block of W. Watkins Street was cited to CJ Municipal Court for driving uninsured, illegal display of plates and warned if that Hyundai was seen on the road again that day, it would be towed. *There was a he-said, she- said disturbance in the 8000 block of Holland Loop at 2:40 p.m. She Outside the Valley *Thirteen incidents. Friday, July 8 *Although at first it sounded like gunshots, it was probably only fireworks near Jubilee Park since there were no fights or disturbances happening at 9:27 a.m. Three early- birds were warned for drinking in public. *Campers in Hogue Meadow were warned again at 10:57 a.m. for residing on federal lands. They were given until Sunday morning to vacate. He claimed that the woman in the black dress and boots was driving erratically, so he pulled the keys out of the ignition in Kerby and drove home. *All was fine at the Forks State Park at 4:25 p.m. *Efforts to deliver restraining orders in the 200 block of Schumacher Street at 5:08 p.m. and the 100 block of Walters Drive at 5:23 p.m. were unsuccessful. *At 6 p.m., a restraining order was served in the 100 block of N. Junction Avenue, and a child was given to the petitioner. near the Rough and Ready Wayside. *There was no contact or communication between the two parties of a restraining order in the 300 block of S. Redwood Hwy. at 6:04 p.m. The woman wasn’t sure if he even saw her, but she reported a restraining order violation because they were both at the same parking lot at the same time. *A 911-hangup call came through the Eight Dollar Road cell tower, but there were no sounds of disturbance at 6:18 p.m. *At 6:28 p.m. an individual went to the 100 block of Walters Drive to retrieve her belongings, but the guy there refused to return her vehicle. When she threatened him with a rock, he knocked her to the ground and sat on top of her.
