Monday, April 18
*Horses were loose in a
county field on Pine Cone Drive
because thoughtless thieves left a
gate open April 15. The louts stole a
Husqvarna chainsaw and gas cans,
and cut the lock on a gas tank. Two
neighbors recently spotted an old
Dodge van with stripes on the sides,
and a van was parked near the fence
early in the morning.
*Got wood? Someone sure
does after they pilfered wood from
the 5000 block of Westside Road.
*Property owners in the 37400
block of Redwood Hwy. in O’Brien
felt threatened by trespassers who
forged notary and signatures on
transfer documents for an adjacent
parcel of land. The couple said they
live in fear because that property
has a history of meth labs, SWAT
busts and shoot-outs. A trespass
complaint has been filed, and a
report will be filed for first-degree
aggravated theft.
*Medical assistance was on
the way for a 63-year-old wanderer
who was located in the 100-block
of Warren Road after being lost for
four days.
*Switched license plates
were displayed on a stolen Chevy
truck that crashed into Cartwrights
in Grants Pass. The investigation
pointed towards a residence in the
100 block of Kerby Mainline Road,
but there were no priors or valid
phone numbers associated with the
owner of the vehicle.
*There were a couple of
pocket dialed 911-calls from the
500 block of E. River Street at 5:56
p.m., but no sounds of disturbance.
*Early morning on April 15,
a guy in the 6500 block of Caves
Hwy. came out of his home to
discover a young girl with shoulder-
length blond hair running from
his car. She escaped in a small,
light-blue, late-model sedan. The
little devil stole two Sony handheld
camcorders, a Garmin GPS model
50, and a woman’s black coat with
white fleece lining. The hooligan
also ran off with a Ruger six-shot
revolver in a brown leather holster.
The firearm is missing a pin, so the
cylinder is held in place with black
tape around the barrel. The final
kick in the teeth was the theft of
upper and lower dentures in a blue
storage cup. (Dentures, really? Who
does that? It’s not like they have a
great resale value, and they’re not
one size fits all.)
Outside the Valley
*Eighteen calls logged.
Tuesday, April 19
*An annoying person from the
800 block of Airport Drive needs to
stop being disruptive at the Illinois
Valley Ranger Station.
*A wacky woman asked a
chap to use his cell phone at 12:26
p.m. because her silver-colored car
was broken down in the field in the
200 block of W. Watkins Street.
She said the kids in her car were
“freaking out” then she started
cussing because he wouldn’t give
her his phone.
*The Deer Creek boat ramp
was patrolled at 12:54 p.m.
*All was OK during an area
check of Eight Dollar Mountain
Road at 1:00 p.m.
Outside the Valley
*Thirty situations
Wednesday, April 20
* Josephine County Sheriff’s
Office (JCSO) assisted Oregon
State Police (OSP) with their
investigation of an incident in the
8000 block of Holland Loop.
*A black 1996 Honda Civic
was stolen from the 24500 block of
Redwood Hwy. between 11 p.m. on
April 19 and 9:55 a.m. on April 20.
A helpful friend located the Honda
at 102 S. Junction Avenue, near the
Lorna Byrne Middle School at 4:20
p.m.
*A fellow on Valley Height
Drive in Selma was tired of looking
at a vehicle that was abandoned on
his property two weeks ago, so he
will have it towed. It was not listed
as stolen.
*Community Oriented Police
Service was provided at the Illinois
Valley High School at 2:57 p.m.
*The caller hung up at 2:59
p.m. after dialing 911 from the 100
block of S. Redwood Hwy.
*There is an ongoing problem
with trespassers in the 18200 block
of Redwood Hwy. but the squatters
always disappear when law
enforcement arrives.
*A soon to be ex-husband
threatened to blow up the homes of
his wife, her fiancé, her friend and
her fiancé’s family in the 24500
block of Redwood Hwy. and on
Honeybee Lane. The bride-to-be
believed that her ex is experienced
with explosives, because he listed
all of the ingredients that he would
be obtaining to accomplish his
mission. The short-fused fellow
drives an older Dodge Caravan. The
worried wife was warned that extra
patrol was not available, and she
was advised regarding restraining
orders.
*An SOS alarm was triggered
at 6:11 p.m. in the 400 block of S.
Redwood Hwy.
Outside the Valley
*Twenty-three situations.
Thursday, April 21
*Out on Airport Drive
there is a bounty hunter who has
experience with felons, and he
provided information on a possible
sex offender with warrants out of
Kentucky. None of the 27-year-old
creep’s life stories rang true, and
he admitted he was hiding out from
law enforcement.
*A naked guy was pacing back
and forth on the wall above the
creek on Abbey Lane, a private road
off Waldo Road at 12:08 p.m.
*A customer at Illinois Valley
Building Supply requested video
so he could find out who stole the
cordless Milwaukee driver drill kit
from his car. Turns out he dropped
his Milwaukee in the parking lot,
and it was returned to him at 4:56
p.m.
*Another stolen vehicle was
stripped and worthless when it was
located at Waldo Ponds in the 3200
block of Waldo Road at 2:24 p.m.
*Things weren’t very peaceful
at 4:20 p.m. when two young hell
cats were screaming at each other in
the 100 block of S. Redwood Hwy.
The driver of a white car tried three
times to run over the motorist with
the black SUV.
*An SOS alarm sounded off at
5:13 p.m. in the 900 block of Caves
Hwy.
Outside the Valley
Friday, April 22
*Apparently a marijuana
grower from CJ was sending
threatening text messages to a
place on Lower River Road in
Grants Pass. He was upset because
someone else received the compost
that he bid on but failed to retrieve.
*A biker in black leather and
jeans was sitting in front of 222 W.
Lister Street at 12:04 p.m. Although
he had no warrants, he was
suspected of driving on a suspended
license in a blue Mazda truck with a
Harley Davidson motorcycle in the
back.
*When a boy phoned 911
at 12:34 p.m., the dispatcher
could hear his mother and father
fighting in the background. Law
enforcement officers were unable
to locate the big white house in the
1300 block of Caves Hwy that the
boy described.
*Medics transported one
victim to Three Rivers Community
Hospital in Grants Pass following a
car accident on S. Redwood Hwy. at
W. Watkins Street at 1:04 p.m.
*An employee on Robinson
Corner Road was receiving
threatening texts from a cyberbully
trying to drive her out of her job.
She will seek a stalking order.
*The big white house in
the 1300 block of Caves Hwy.
was located at 1:26 p.m., and
according to the boy’s mother, the
earlier disturbance was verbal and
unfounded as a crime.
*Hits to the door in the
counseling area at 625 E. River
Street set off the SOS alarm at 5:04
p.m.
Outside the Valley
*Two dozen incidents.
*Fifteen listings.
