*In a Downtown Cave Junction
store, said a woman, another wom-
an “got in her face” in connection
with what might be called bogus use
of a handicapped parking placard.
The complainant said that the other
woman, “ a known druggie,” pushed
her and that she (the complainant)
warned that if she hit the other wom-
an she would be dead. Employees
then broke up the confrontation.
*It appears that a Dogwood
Lane resident’s stolen car was re-
covered, and that the driver, who
was not identified in the log (NIL),
was cited on a charge of driving 61
mph in a 45 zone at or near Forks
State Park.
*A complaint of harassment
from Lamont Way was termed be-
yond available resources (BAR) by
the Josephine County Sheriff’s Of-
fice (JCSO).
*Jerry’s Towing took a motor-
cycle from the front of the Junction
Inn after a deputy cited the driver
(NIL) on charges of driving while
suspended (DWS) and lacking insur-
ance. The driver also was warned for
a defective brake light and failure to
use a turn signal and lack of license
plates.
*At Redwood Hwy. and Lister
Street a motorist (NIL) was warned
about a defective brake light.
*On Terrace Drive a motorist
(NIL) was cited on charges of DWS
and having expired license tags, and
cited to appear in court due to two
warrants charging second-degree
theft. There also was a mention of
switched license tags.
*Dale Alan Curtis, 50, was tak-
en into custody, apparently in con-
nection with being a fugitive, after a
traffic stop in Downtown CJ.
*Following a “minor fender
bender” on a parking lot in Down-
town CJ, one motorist (NIL) was
said to be belligerent. The CJ con-
tract deputy was in Grants Pass with
an arrestee and an Oregon State Po-
lice (OSP) trooper was contacted,
but then the drivers exchanged in-
formation and all was OK.
Outside the Valley
*Twelve calls were logged.
Tuesday, Aug. 5
*An employee (NIL) at Oregon
Caves National Monument reported
damage to his (or her) vehicle, but
was unsure whether it happened in
CJ or at the monument.
*A brown horse which didn’t
belong there was in a person’s yard
in the 8400 block of Takilma Road.
*Civil
compromise
was
reached in the 32000 block of Red-
wood Hwy. in connection with a dis-
pute about a transaction involving a
motor vehicle.
*Large branches were said to
be on Redwood Hwy. near the Holi-
day Inn in Kerby, but then they were
cleared.
*”Minor cuts to the face” were
reported after a motorist (NIL) drove
into a tree on Hay’s Cutoff. Use of
alcohol was not indicated.
*The driver (NIL) of a vehicle
with an outstanding warrant for fel-
ony DWS was released after a traffic
stop at the south end of CJ, as the
county jail wouldn’t accept the per-
son for incarceration. Jerry’s Towing
removed the vehicle though.
*Burglary to a house, a garage
and a workshop on Warren Road was
reported.
*No one was found in a home
on Gamay Drive after a request for
a welfare check from an out-of-state
relative.
*Someone (NIL) was detained
at the CJ 76 store, and then delivered
to a probation officer.
Outside the Valley
*Fourteen calls were logged.
Wednesday, Aug. 6
*In Downtown CJ a motorist
(NIL) was warned about defective
brake lights.
*Jubilee Park was patrolled on
foot for more than 20 minutes begin-
ning not long after noon.
*At 12:45 p.m. OSP notified
JCSO of a call regarding a possible
intoxicated motorist driving a dark
brown pickup truck with a business
logo on the sides in the vicinity of
Redwood Hwy. and Westside Road.
*In the 6000 block of Rocky-
dale Road a man who was tempo-
rarily lost was located and taken
home. A patrol deputy was aided by
a Search And Rescue deputy.
*OSP was to handle a nonin-
jury, single-vehicle accident in the
1400 block of Caves Hwy.
Outside the Valley
*Eleven calls were logged.
Friday, Aug. 8
*Theft of a car hauler and re-
lated equipment was reported from
the 27000 block of Redwood Hwy.
*Someone (NIL) who had been
warned previously about not wear-
ing a seat belt was warned again in
CJ.
*People (NIL) on Gamay Drive
had a father-son incident in which the
latter “was armed with a shovel.”
*A teen-ager on Dogwood
Lane texted a friend with complaints
about being locked up and not be-
ing fed, but it turned out that he was
being punished for not cleaning his
room. His dad was going to handle
the situation.
Outside the Valley
*Eleven incidents were logged
including a large group of people
fighting in the 4000 block of Wil-
liams Hwy. OSP and JCSO officers
responded. And Gregory Martin
Taylor, 48, was arrested in Grants
Pass on a charge of probation viola-
tion.
