Some of us can remember back in the day when our parks were full at
night. Softball games were played and music came from the pavilion. Kids
played on the playground. Couples strolled hand in hand.
Many of you have only seen this in movies. But, wouldn’t it be great
if our own park had the same look and feel?
Well, it does. Over the course of the last few weeks, I have noticed a
wonderful vibe at Jubilee Park. The adult softball league is in full swing
and I am amazed at how many people are taking part, both as spectators
and players.

ground equipment come close to matching the kids in the new skate park.
Add in the Chamber of Commerce’s Concerts in the Park series, and you
have hit the superfecta.
Thursday will be the last concert for the season and it features Ras
Cricket and the Cultivators, a Reggae band.
So, if you have some time Thursday night, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.,
come on down and see what the buzz is all about.
Thank you for picking up this week’s paper, enjoy! ~ djm

ing statements made as fact are strictly those of
the letter writers.)
Why deface signs?
During the last election cycle I saw many
campaign signs defaced, broken or simply dis-
appear. My private property was even entered
over a fence to remove a large field sign.
Now this same mentality is back in full
swing, including the recently placed sign on
my property which was red, spray-painted with
“I Love Pee” and a picture sprayed in such
a manner as to depict blood streaming down
someone’s face.
Don’t they realize this sophomoric ap-
proach to garner votes for their candidate may
well work against them? Is this the “democrat-
ic” process? Liberals represent themselves as
volunteers and supporters throughout our
county and beyond who helped us qualify our
pesticide initiative for November’s ballot.
Now and forever known as Measure 17-63, the
citizens of Josephine County will finally have
the right to choose; the right to say yes or no to
the pesticides we have been forced to live with
for far too long.
The opportunity to seek freedom from the
toxic chemical cocktails used throughout our
county year after year.
We Thank You.

loving, kind, diverse, progressive and fair, yet
their actions show their true colors. I feel pity
for those with such small, closed minds whose
only recourse is to defile that which they can-
not understand.
Is there a chance that the final results
with this research may one day save the life of
your child?

Brother ...Rainbow Warrior ...and the
true American Hippie Dead Head! Ed-

already made their departure to Terra-

SIMPLE WAYS TO SAVE ENERGY ND MONEY THIS SUMMER:
Set the air conditioning or
heat pump thermostat a
few degrees higher than
normal when no one is home.
Check the system air filter regularly
and change it when it looks dirty. A
dirty filter makes the system work
less efficiently and reduces air flow.
Place electronics and lamps with
conventional bulbs away from
the thermostat. The heat they
produce can cause the air
conditioner to work harder
than necessary.
Have your cooling equipment
serviced each year to keep it
running efficiently.
