Monday, May 12
*Some upstanding citizen saw what he
called “a male juvenile driving recklessly” in
Jubilee Park at 8:15 a.m., and two hours later a
deputy contacted the youth, “who was warned
regarding his driving behavior.”
*At 11:14 a.m. a resident in the 200 block
of E. River Street stated that on Friday night,
May 9, a thief took his trailer made from the
green-and-red bed of a ‘65 Chevy pickup
truck. The resident added that a white toolbox
is mounted in the bed.
*Someone was cited on a parking vio-
lation charge in the 100 block of E. River
Street.
*Still on River Street, except now on the
west side, a woman said that she loaned her
boyfriend her car last week and now he won’t
return it. It could be a case of unauthorized use
of a motor vehicle.
*The death of a deer at Rockydale Road
and Enchanted Way apparently was caused
when it was struck by a truck from Illinois Val-
ley Fire District (IVFD).
*“Nuisance dog” and “no dog license in
the city limits of CJ” were charged on a citation
issued to a man, who was not publicly identi-
fied, at Redwood Hwy. and Lister Street.
Outside the Valley
*Of 13 calls logged, one was about a man
who claimed that some dude near the Merlin
Landfill was carrying a rifle wrapped in a
sweatshirt, and there was a complaint from a
Johnson Drive resident about someone egging
his house and yelling at him so much that he
has to wear ear protection.
Tuesday, May 13
*On Pinewood Way a property caretaker
held a couple at gunpoint because they were
taking down a fence. They fled.
*Someone in Kerby said that someone
else came to their house looking for a stolen
vehicle. One with two flat tires was near her
place, but she said that she didn’t know if it
was the one the person at the door was seek-
ing.
*A “stripped-out” Jeep was reported at
Illinois River Forks State Park. Later a woman
on Airport Drive stated that her Jeep had been
stolen. It seemed as though it was the same ve-
hicle.
*Four days ago, said a woman in Selma, a
man left a brand-new Porsche 914 on her prop-
erty. He told her it had some problem. Turns
out that the problem (not likely the one he was
referring to) is that the car was reported stolen
in Grants Pass.
*Three people and minor injuries were
reported in a two-vehicle collision at S. Red-
wood Hwy. and E. Watkins Street that caused
temporary lane blockage. All the people de-
clined medical aid. IVFD and American Medi-
cal Response (AMR) rolled to the scene.
Outside the Valley
*Fifteen calls were listed.
Wednesday, May 14
*Shortly before 12:30 p.m. a woman at
Jubilee Park wanted an ambulance. She had
been checked earlier in the day, but wouldn’t
stay in the same place. She ended up being
cited for having alcohol in the park, and a man
was warned about having a dog at large in the
park. The woman “made travel arrangements
with AMR.”
*JCSO termed as “harassment” a situa-
tion described by a woman in the 5000 block
of Caves Hwy. She said that around May 6
someone vandalized her vehicle at the location
and scratched “Bitch” into the driver’s door.
On May 8 she continued, she received a letter
signed by “Fawn Journeyhawk” warning her to
“sleep lightly and watch your back.” The caller
is worried about the safety of her family.
*Someone on S. Old Stage Road was
warned at 1:47 p.m. about playing music too
loudly.
*The woman who wanted an ambulance
in Jubilee Park was with a man at the Josephine
County Bldg. in Downtown CJ, still want-
ing an ambulance, as she wasn’t transported
earlier due to not being cooperative. She and
the man were intoxicated. She was cited on a
charge of obstructing the entrance to a county
building and misuse of 911.

WHERE’S
THE ALARM?
Outside the Valley
*The logs list 13 calls.
Thursday, May 15
*A deputy apparently made a friendly
visit to Station 1 of IVFD shortly prior to 8
a.m.
*Shortly after 8 a.m. a deputy stopped to
chat with a man wearing gray shorts, yellow
shirt and a blue beanie at S. Redwood Hwy.
and Hamilton Lane after he threw a rock at a
passing car. The nattily dressed dude was bel-
ligerent and denied tossing said rock. It “was
possibly intended for the patrol vehicle,” the
officer noted.
*Two men on S. Old Stage Road ap-
peared headed to violence, and a neighbor
stated that one said he was going to kill some-
one. It turned out to be an eviction attempt. No
one was killed.
*Folks on Pine Cone Drive related that
their son had again run away from home. He
had been charged with possession of meth
three weeks earlier, and was supposed to stay
home under house arrest until his court date.
*On N. Caves Avenue a woman wanted a
guarantee that if she goes “on track” at a detox
center that she wouldn’t be kicked out the next
day. She was advised of her options.
*It seems that a man who broke up with
a woman on Airport Drive texted that he was
going to commit suicide. A deputy and AMR
were headed to the man’s address, but had to
respond instead to a rollover motor vehicle ac-
cident on Redwood Hwy. in Kerby. Not much
later it was found that the former boyfriend
was OK and not a danger to himself.
*Following a rollover crash at Redwood
Hwy. and Kerby Mainline the driver declined
medical attention. OSP was notified and re-
sponded with JCSO. It was noted that a util-
ity pole was involved, but that the lines were
secure.
*At a CJ business a woman with tattoos
and a dog phoned 911 and said that she was
going to kill herself. Subsequently she was
warned about misuse of 911 and taken to her
daughter’s house.
*An unruly student was reported at Lorna
Byrne Middle School, but apparently a need
for law enforcement was not necessary and the
situation was termed “Code 4” (no further help
needed).
Outside the Valley
*Another 13 calls were received with one
being fairly major. As reported by JCSO, pa-
trol officers responded to Hidden Valley High
School due to a report that a former student
was there with a knife. A current student said
that the boy “intended to use the knife to harm
someone.” School staff initiated a lockdown
even after the youth left; deputies located the
suspect and arrested him. JCSO said that he
“has been lodged through the Juvenile Justice
program on a Class C felony charge of posses-
sion of a dangerous weapon in a public build-
ing.”
Friday, May 16
*There was a complaint from a Down-
town Cave Junction business that the night be-
fore a truly obnoxious and probably demented
person “dumped a bag of dead cats at the es-
tablishment.” Animal Control was notified.
*In CJ a deputy met with a man who said
that he can’t find his child and that he last saw
him three days ago. For some reason the father
said that “he doesn’t believe his son is staying
in the bathroom at Jubilee Park.”
*An unconscious transient was reported
at E. Watkins Street and S. Caves Avenue “in
the street and on the sidewalk.” He had a beer
can. Real helpful people honked their car horns
at him and others kicked him, “but he wasn’t
moving.” The poor fellow was gone at the ar-
rival of a deputy, who was told that the guy
got on his bike and rode away. (Who wouldn’t
with all that noise and the kicking too).
*A bit later a deputy said that in Jubilee
Park he might have seen the man in the above
incident.
*Two men were warned about loitering
around the Josephine County Bldg. in CJ.
*Following a call that a father with four
children in O’Brien had pointed “a real gun”
at himself the night before, the Dept. of Hu-
man Services stated that it was not available to
respond for about a week.
*In the 25000 block of Redwood Hwy. a
man “with erratic behavior” was observed. He
agreed to be taken to a hospital.
Outside the Valley
*Sixteen calls were received on a wide
range of complaints.
