One of thirteen children,
she was born March 4, 1925 in
Dennis, Kansas to William and
Annie Doolittle. On May 14,
1962, in Hermiston, Oregon,
she married George R. Mur-
phy who died July 25, 2004.
They moved to Cave Junction
in 1976 from Pendleton. She
was a homemaker. In 2005,
she moved to Grants Pass.
Eva was a member of
the Fountain of Life Assembly
of God and a life member of
the Veterans of Foreign Wars
and Disabled American Vet-
erans auxiliaries. She enjoyed
by her daughters. Survivors in-
clude two daughters, Christine
Murphy and Darlene “Dolly”
Newton, both of Cave Junc-
tion; two sons, Edward and
Dan Crawley, both of Pend-
leton; 7 grandchildren and 15
great-grandchildren. A daugh-
ter, Patricia “Pat” Woods, and
all of Eva’s siblings preceded
her in death.

“Jim” Jessome, age 76,
of Selma, died Thursday, June
13, 2013 at Highland House
Nursing & Rehabilitation Cen-
ter.
A graveside service with
military honors will be at 2:00
p.m., Friday, June 21, 2013 at
Hillcrest Memorial Park. Hull
& Hull Funeral Directors are
in charge of arrangements.

He was born August 1,
1936 in Worcester, Massa-
chusetts to Estelle & Joseph
in the United States Navy for
four years from 1954 to 1958.
He worked in government
civil service for 30 years at the
Long Beach Naval Shipyard
and Seal Beach Naval Ship-
yard as an electronic and ra-
dar specialist. In 1970 at Las
Vegas, Nevada he married his
wife Cathy. He retired from
civil service in 1990 and upon
Cathy’s retirement they moved
to Selma, Oregon in 2001.
He enjoyed square danc-
ing, the ocean, sailboats, his
tractor, and his ranch in Sel-
ma.
Survivors include his
wife, Cathy; his sister, Jerry
Beam, and his brother, John
“Jack” Jessome.
Dan Warden, age
75, of Selma, died Friday,
June 14, 2013 at his home.
A visitation will be from
12 Noon to 4:00 p.m. on Tues-
day, June 18, 2013, and from
9:30 a.m. until 10:20 a.m. on
Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at

Dan was born to Thomas
and Clara Warden on Septem-
ber 25, 1937 in Shafter, Cali-
fornia. He joined the Army
National Guard and served
in Korea from 1952 – 1954.
Then he joined the Navy and
served from 1954 to 1961. On
April 29, 1990 in Oregon City,
Oregon he married the former
Laurel Tipton. In 1994 he re-
tired from Silver Eagle Truck-
ing of Medford.
Dan was Past Com-
mander of the Glenn Morrison
American Legion Post 70 in
sion leader for five years, Past
President of the Korean War
Veterans Association, and Past
Vice Commander for the State
of Oregon Veterans of Under-
age Military Service (VUMS).
Dan was also a member of the
Illinois Valley Baptist Church
in Cave Junction.
Dan’s hobbies included
woodworking, making con-
crete figurines, traveling to
VSO conventions, bowling,
fishing, and especially his
family life.
Survivors include his
wife, Laurel Warden of Sel-
ma; son, Robert Warden of
Oak Grove, Oregon; daugh-
ter, Joann Nooner of Portland;
son, Kevin Tipton of Portland;
daughter, Caren Cox of Ore-
gon City; seven grandchildren
and nine great grandchildren.
Dan is preceded in death
by an infant daughter Dannie
Sue; daughter, Vickie Nienke;
his parents; sister, Peggy Furr;
brothers, Tommy Warden and
Gino LanFranco.

Don was born Decem-
ber 4, 1923 in Bemidji, Min-
nesota to Leon & Anna Stein.
On May 20, 1955 he married
Janet Woodruff. He served in
the United States Navy and Air
Force. In 2007 he moved from
Arizona to Cave Junction.
He especially loved to
read.
In addition to his wife,
Janet Stein of Cave Junction,
Oregon; a son, Nathan J. Stein
of Jonesboro, Tennessee; a
brother, Jim Stein of Bemidji,
Minnesota; one grandchild;
and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death
by his parents; and two broth-
ers, Ed L. Stein and Bill Stein.
