Friday, March 25
* Soren Ara Stiehl, 43, has
made himself unwelcome at
both the CJ and Grants Pass
Siskiyou Clinics after threaten-
ing employees and telephonic
harassment.
* Domestic violence was
reported at 8:18 p.m. from
Krauss Lane, but by the time
back-up units were available,
the man was watching TV and
the woman was in bed. She
stated she overreacted, had
taken her meds and everything
was fine.
* There was no apparent rea-
son for the alarm at IV Build-
ing Supply just before 11 p.m.
* A 26 year-old man only had
$6, but pumped $42 worth of
fuel at the CJ 76 Station &
Car Wash. He was given a ride
to his house to get his check-
book, but then opted to leave
his vehicle at the gas station
and pay for the gas the next
day. He was warned he would
be charged with theft if he re-
trieved his truck before paying
for the gas, and the employee
on duty that night was conve-
niently due back on shift in the
morning.
Saturday, March 26
* Back-up was called for a 40
year-old man with back pain
who was crawling around his
house on S. Old Stage Road.
The man was highly intoxi-
cated and very uncooperative,
as was a woman who later ar-
rived on scene.
* Wayne Page, 58, from Ari-
zona, was advised of the or-
dinance regarding camping in
Jubilee Park.
* Ongoing civil issues with
other tenants in the 100 block
of Norman Road made it dif-
ficult for a woman to retrieve
her personal belongings. It
didn’t make it any easier when
the tenants then blocked the
exit with their vehicles, pre-
venting her from leaving.
* Day use fees at the south side
of Lake Selmac were being en-
forced at 7:30 p.m.
* There was a chase with a red
or orange dirt bike with no tail-
light traveling at 70 mph from
Draper Valley Road to Squaw
Mountain, then towards Illi-
nois River Road. The bike got
away… this time.
Sunday, March 27
* Terry James McCarthy, 25,
and Timothy Ray Holder, 29,
drove a Toyota pickup truck
into the mountains off Deer
Creek to check out their gold
mine at around 2 or 3 p.m.,
but had not returned as of mid-
night. McCarthy’s worried
girlfriend said it was “not like

Monday, March 28
* Six cattle were “moo-sey-
ing” around on Deer Creek
Ranch property on Illinois
River Road.
* Someone reported that there
was a fugitive from Pennsyl-
vania hiding out in the 900
block of Caves Hwy. The man
was described as being around
45 years old, 5’2” tall, with a
large tattoo on his upper arm
that says “Puerto Rican Pride.”
There were no warrant hits on
the man.
* A driver on Redwood Hwy.
heading towards Selma said
that someone threw a snowball
at his 1998 Nissan Frontier,
breaking the windshield and
rear view mirror. The evidence,
though, melted at the scene.
* Paul Cleveland Cooper, 43,
was transported to the Jose-
phine County Jail for two war-
rants for failure to comply with
terms of probation involving
meth and unlawful possession
of a firearm.
* A protective grandmother
on Dick George Road phoned
law enforcement when her
pregnant
granddaughter’s
boyfriend was rough housing.
Grandma also stepped in front
of her granddaughter’s car so
the boyfriend wouldn’t take it.
Never mess with a Grannie or
her babies!
* Two months ago, someone
named Jeremy cut down a tree
on property in the 8800 block
of Deer Creek Road, but the
tree that was supposed to have
been cut was on the neighbor’s
property. Saw one tree, you
saw them all.
* Matthew Albert Rosenberry,
30, was arrested on a warrant
for second-degree assault af-
ter an altercation in the 8500
block of Deer Creek Road.
* Possible suspect informa-
tion was given to a county dis-
patcher regarding a chainsaw
stolen from the 17000 block
of Redwood Hwy. The saw,
an orange Husqvarna model
257 with a 24 inch blade, was
taken during a party thrown
while a son’s parents were out
of town.
Tuesday, March 29
* The man who reported hear-
ing a muffled gun shot near
Shadowbrook Drive after
midnight said something just
“doesn’t feel right” about the
sound he heard, especially af-
ter hearing raised voices an
hour earlier.
* Several drivers were cited
for failing to signal to turn
and/or failing to observe a traf-
fic control device (a.k.a. stop
sign) at W. Lister Street and
S. Hussey Ave. Other drivers
were warned for speeding in
the same area.
* An abandoned vehicle was
parked along Finch Road and
a man was concerned that the
rusty red pickup truck with
bags in the bed might have a
dead or injured person in it.
The suspicious vehicle was
gone when deputies arrived.
* A motorcyclist nearly hit a
horse in the middle of Reeves
Creek Road. Apparently the
blue hay bale rope wrapped
around the horse wasn’t suffi-
cient to keep it tied down.
* Vandals destroyed the park
kiosk and a handicap park-
ing sign, and stole two picnic
tables and two benches from
the hiking and equestrian trail
at 3000 Westside Road. Esti-
mated damages total approxi-
mately $1,500.
* The horse was back in the
middle of Reeves Creek again,
but this time the owner was
located. Raymond John Beair-
sto, 53, was uncooperative and
argumentative when he was
warned for failure to care for
an animal and failure to main-
tain the pen that the animal is
kept in. There was an electric
fence on the site that may not
have been working properly.
* Two vehicles were doing
wheelies on vacant lots on East
Fork Circle and a neighbor re-
ported a “convention” of rac-
ing vehicles at that location.
* A man on Caves Hwy. called
911 four times wanting the
number to the sheriff’s office,
then called back wanting the
phone number for Hospice.
Buddy, dial 411, not 911.
Wednesday, March 30
* A truck driver requested
a welfare check on his wife
because they speak on the
phone every night and there
was no answer, so he was
concerned she may have been
injured while out walking the
dogs on BLM land. Wifey
was fine, and quickly con-
tacted her worried husband.

a good night’s sleep” so they
called the Josephine County
Sheriff’s Office. The phone
company attempted to ping
the phone, but the device was
powered off. New snow on the
roadway was covering tracks
from the vehicle, and the PA
didn’t work to call the sub-
jects. Finally at 3:42 a.m. the
two men were located, dropped
off at their hotel and given the
number of Fairgrounds Tow-
ing so they could retrieve their
vehicle from the wet ground
near their mine.
* A man in the 700 block of
Caves Hwy phoned 911 be-
cause he needed wood and
said the paramedics would
come and help him. It turned
out that the night before the
man had locked himself out
of his house. When the med-
ics assisted him, they told him
to come to the fire station if
something like that happened
again, so he figured wood de-
livery was just part of their
services rendered.
* This time the alarm at I.V.
Building Supply was caused
by an animal in the plywood
building.
