Illinois Valley News, Cave Junction, Ore. Wednesday, February 16, 2011 Page A-5 Tales from the Police Blotter (Editor’s Note: Factual information for ‘Blotter’ is provided by official law enforcement agencies. All persons listed are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Charges can be amended or dismissed.) *** Thursday, Feb. 3 * Deputies pepper sprayed a dog in the Kerby High Pines Trailer Park where they were looking for a male subject with an outstanding warrant. The subject remains at large and the dog has a bone to pick with him. * Briana L. Ruston, 21, was cited and released for possession of meth, no operator license and driving uninsured. Her vehicle was towed following a mid-day traffic complaint in downtown C.J. * A female wearing a black coat and jeans was running on East River Street asking passing motorists for help, while a white-haired man wearing a baseball cap and carrying a white dog followed her and told her to knock it off. When two people matching the description were contacted, they were hostile and denied being near the high school. Must have been another couple with a white dog running up the roadway. * Someone on Caves Hwy. reported her vehicle stolen after she gave the keys to her red 1974 Coupe De Ville Cadillac to a potential buyer. A man promised to return her car after he got insurance and washed the car, but was seen “joyriding” around C.J. instead. Talkin’ about those Car Wash Blues… * Wayne Anthony Oliver, 64, was sleeping in the lobby of the C.J. Post Office at 8:37 p.m. and was advised to leave. Friday, Feb. 4 * Nancy Ann Wilson, 52, claims that she is a citizen of a Sovereign Nation, doesn’t need a license and will continue to drive without one. Apparently Sovereign Nation citizens are exempt from insurance as well, although she was still cited following a traffic stop in the 200 block of N. Redwood Hwy. * Kicking down fences is a frequent occurrence in the 400 block of West River Street. * No suspect information was available after someone hit a gray 1999 Mercury Marquis in the Shop Smart parking lot, damaging the front bumper and passenger side headlight. * A vacant house in the 500 block of Old Stage Road sustained extensive damage. * Two lost females seeking help at Shadywood Drive and Dick George Road were given a courtesy ride to their cousin’s residence in Holland Loop. They claimed they received a ride from a stranger then fled on foot after he was taking too long to refuel his vehicle. * A woman in the 400 block of Squaw Mountain Road received a notice that her tax refund had been directly deposited into her bank account — only she doesn’t have a bank account. Bank routing and account numbers led to the arrest of Jeffery Richard Wayne Treston, 26, on charges of ID theft, first degree theft, theft by deception and computer crime. * The open beer can behind the bench where Jimmy Richard Delzell was sitting wasn’t his, and Ronald Leroy Satterfield and David Michael Drew both had two cans of beer, but they were unopened. Saturday, Feb. 5 * Charlene Merritt, 29, keeps returning to Shady Acres Trailer Park, even though she has been evicted; she will be warned about trespassing and harassment. * Subjects were said to be stealing firewood without permits on Indian Hill LLC property on Redwood Hwy. in O’Brien. * Thinking that her grandson had been arrested in Canada, a giving grandmother in Lakeshore Drive sent money orders from Walmart, totaling $15,000. The case is pending further investigation. * Billy J. Edward, 40, and Ralph Christopher Rowden, 44, were warned about trespassing in the 200 block of S. Redwood Hwy. * Bill Frasier couldn’t be located, but his large hound dog will be staying at the C.J. 76 Station. They say it shows up there all the time looking for biscuits anyway. Sunday, Feb. 6 * An aggressive pit bull in the 300 block of Three Mill Road was taken into custody and dropped off at animal control. * Some lady in a white pickup truck was looking for tools at a residence in the 2000 block of Dick George Road, but was confronted and told there were no tools. She then came back yelling and hollering about a rototiller. After she took two propane tanks from the carport and placed them into her vehicle, she was advised not to return to that location. * Broken glass, smashed dishes and a bent shelf in a kitchen in the 4000 block of Deer Creek Road might have been the result of a burglary. Tuesday, Feb. 8 * Nothing interesting happened today according to police logs. Monday, Feb. 7 * The owner of Rene’s Place was notified that her front window was broken during the night. It did not appear that entry was made into the business on S. Redwood Hwy., but the window will cost $500 to replace. * Just because she’s “Nacho Mama” doesn’t mean customers should try to pay her with checks drawn on insufficient funds. * A woman in the parking lot by Curves drove her 2007 Toyota Matrix into an off-white pearl sedan with silver stripes, doing damage to the left rear quarter panel. She panicked and didn’t leave a note, but provided insurance information to the sheriff’s office. * David Wayne Sheldon, 25, called in from Kerby High Pines Trailer Park because he heard deputies were looking for him. Sheldon said he was not aware that he had a warrant, but was cited to appear for contempt charges. * You know it’s one of those days when you don’t have any marijuana, your pipe falls out of your pocket and breaks on school property. * Gregory Wayne Sampley, 58, is not allowed to be in downtown C.J., so when he was found in the 100 block of S. Redwood Hwy., he was transported to the Josephine County jail on criminal trespass charges. * Neighbors took car keys from Sonja Marie Rasmussen, 30, who was cited for driving under the influence of intoxicants charge after a car was stuck in a ditch in the end of the cul-de-sac of Shadowbrook Drive at 1:16 a.m. * Phil Yves Fraser, 56, was arrested in the 20000 block of Caves Hwy. on a warrant for failure to appear on second degree theft charges. Wednesday, Feb. 9 * Someone at the Kerby High Pines Trailer Park called for help because two guys were “mooing” at him and flashing their headlights. He was advised to quit antagonizing the situation by textually harassing his ex-girlfriend. * Firewood is being illegally taken from Redwood Hwy. near Gold Canyon Drive. * It seemed suspicious that a new black Shanghai scooter with no license plates was still parked at the C.J. Post Office. * Two bullets from a big- bore semi-automatic pistol passed right over a man’s head, so close he could hear the buzz as they went by, but none of the neighbors on Shadywood Drive admitted to shooting or hearing any shots. * A man on Deer Creek Road paid a couple to clean up his yard and take the items to the dump. Instead, the duo cut a cable lock and dumped the load of trash in front of a mobile home in the 100 block of Hogue Drive. Thursday, Feb. 10 * Someone removed a four-foot long natural wood bench valued at $100 from a trailhead at the Forks State Park. * Four dogs ran aggressively at a woman on her property in the 8000 block of Takilma Road and a light brown and white pit bull bit her on the left knee before she was able to get into her car. * With several other recent rabies cases in the area, the dead skunk at Crooks Creek and Reeves Creek Roads seemed suspicious because there was no skunk smell, and it did not appear to have been hit by a car.
