Illinois Valley News, Cave Junction, Ore. Wednesday, February 24, 2010 Page 10 Sponsored Feature: Inbound LLC offers ‘Firewise’ fuel reduction, prevention work Perhaps Dillon Sanders’ early interest in fire safety stemmed from early child- hood memories of his mother Lyla’s landmark Takilma Store, which burned in 1974. Today, Sanders’ busi- ness, Inbound LLC, special- izes in wildland fire suppres- sion and related work such as fuels reduction, habitat resto- ration, and general contract- ing. Sanders graduated from Illinois Valley High School in 1984, and joined the U.S. Navy in which he became an Senior Nutrition Menu Sponsored by Meals are served in the Cave Junction County Bldg. 541-592-2126, 541-955-8839 FRIDAY, FEB. 26 CHICKEN & PENNE PASTA Green peas & onions, Harvard beets, bran wheat bread, frosted carrot cake MONDAY, MARCH 1 SCALLOPED TURKEY Country trio vegetables, marinated spring garden salad, whole wheat roll, chocolate/vanilla swirl pudding WEDNESDAY, MARCH 3 BAKED BEEF RIGATONI Winter mix vegetables, sunshine salad mold, garlic French bread, apple streusel cake officer. He served in the first Persian Gulf War. After leav- ing the Navy, Sanders entered the Ph.D. program in eco- nomics at Oregon State Uni- versity at Corvallis. In 2004, he started In- bound with one handcrew and two wildland fire en- gines. Now, Inbound has of- fices in Portland, Oakridge, and the new office in Cave Junction and supplies two handcrews and six wildland fire engines to the U.S. Forest Service and the state of Ore- gon. Sanders still has many friends and some relatives in the valley and considers Illi- nois Valley “Home.” “Growing up in the Illi- nois Valley had a profound influence on me,” he said. “I learned values, and I hope these values are reflected in the culture of our company, Inbound LLC. I want to be a good steward of Mother Na- ture’s property.” Sanders was 7-years-old at the time of the Takilma Store fire. Later, he worked at the Illinois Valley Fire Dis- trict and the USFS perform- ing timber stand exams and tree surveys. Inbound LLC, a Disabled Veteran Owned Business (SDVOB), originated in Port- land. But Sanders said that Inbound LLC, now is on a mission to create jobs by matching workers with op- portunities. One area of im- “Firewise.” The “Firewise” prescrip- tion would include cleaning gutters, removing ladder fu- els, and creating defensible space around buildings. Home owners can per- form the required actions themselves, or they can forego the back-ache and poison oak rash by phoning companies such as Inbound LLC for a bid. Rates would vary de- pending on the extent of work that needed to be done, as well as customer preferences. Those could include whether the slash be chipped, burned or stacked in piles. Grants might be available for finan- cial assistance for some Firewise programs. Dillon Sanders, Inbound LLC founder. (Photo by Michelle Binker, Illinois Valley News ) mediate focus is to provide Firewise assistance to home owners in Illinois Valley. Sanders plans on expanding his current staff of three as he lines up more contracts. “Kenny Houck, Mike Meidinger, and Charity & Scott Rich were very positive influences and instrumental in getting our office estab- lished,” he said. “Also, the Takilma Community Asso- ciation, and discussions with Joel King and Dave Patton at the Forest Service gave me confidence and support that this is the time to open an office and begin job creation in the valley,” claimed Sand- ers. “Josephine County was the first to get on board with a comprehensive fire plan, which is now a model for the rest of the state,” he noted. Home owners would first phone IVFD to set an ap- pointment with Prevention Officer Kamron Ismaili to inspect their property and issue a prescription. It would detail the work needed for the property to be listed as Services performed by Inbound LLC follow in the footsteps of Grayback For- estry and Lomakatsi, and include the following: *Licensed General Con- tractor, Firewise Compliance, Wildland Fire Suppression, Hazardous Fuels Reduction, Piling & Slash Burning, Stream Rehabilitation, Nox- ious Weed Treatment, and Trail Building. Senate Bill 1062, intro- duced at Brown’s request, requires stronger notice that an imitation ballot is not offi- cial, sets a minimum 36-point font size for the disclaimer and imposes tougher penalties to deter violations. “We cannot have any uncertainty about when a ballot is fake and when it’s official,” Brown said after the vote. “This bipartisan vote sends a strong message that we must prevent any possibil- ity of misunderstanding. The law has been insufficient, and this vote takes a huge step toward avoiding the possibil- ity of confusion.” The bill now will be con- sidered by the Oregon House. Brown, the state’s chief elections officer, won her first race by seven votes. LEGAL NOTICE TRUSTEE’S NOTICE OF SALE Pursuant to O.R.S. 86.705, et seq. and O.R.S. 79-5010, et seq.
