He also was chosen as an Honorable Mention offensive tackle. Foraker never left the field, as he was also on all of the spe- cial teams for the Cougars. He was the most feared de- fensive player in the confer- ence by opposing coaches and players. Also for IVHS, Roger Hults, a junior, gained second team defensive back and Honorable Mention quarter- back citations. Hults set the single-season passing record for the Cougars. T.J. Parker, wide receiver and linebacker; and Freddy Hults, tight end, gained Hon- orable Mention status. Crouse, a junior forward, was the engine for the men’s soccer team this year. He played extremely hard on By KENNY HIX For IVN Several Illinois Valley High School Cougars were selected by coaches of the Skyline Conference last week for the fall season. Three gar- nered first team honors: *Football, Brandon Foraker. *Men’s Soccer, Jordan Crouse. *Cross Country, Casey Robertson. Foraker, a senior, led the conference with tackles and was one of the most vicious hitters at middle linebacker. In fact, he was one of the leading tacklers in the entire state, and despite being be- hind on the scoreboard in every game he continued to perform at a high level. From start to finish, XC duo strong to the finish was slightly longer at 24.12.00. Robertson highlighted her season with the fifth best time in the Skyline Confer- ence this season with a time of 21.01.86. This time was 43rd out of 402 runners in the state 4-A class. Prickett had her personal best time in the district meet. In fact all six girls had their best times of the season at the Skyline District Meet. “They really step it up at dis- tricts. I am proud of them”, said coach Janie Pope. Team members this year were Mali Witchelo, Erin Byrne, Hailee Parker, Tyler Delaney, Heidi Unger, Prickett and Robert- son. By KENNY HIX For IVN Two Lady Cougar run- ners represented Illinois Val- leys cross country team in fine fashion at the state meet held at Lane Community Col- lege in Eugene on Saturday, Nov. 7. They were among 119 of the state’s best runners at this event. However, Casey Robertson and Jasmine Prickett knew they had worked hard all season and deserved to be there. They did what they do best -- run. Robertson finished the day with the top 25 runners at 20th place, with a time of 21.21.00, little more than a minute and a half behind the top finisher. Prickett’s time My cooking is so bad my kids thought Thanksgiving was to commemorate Pearl Harbor. ~ Phyllis Diller ~ both ends and set a tone for his teammates to follow not only by his leadership but by his performance. Crouse was relentless and always caused match-up problems for his opponents. Cougars Jovany Sanchez, a freshman forward, and Ben “Pit Bull” Kendall, a senior defender were named to the second team. Anthony Real- muto, a junior defender, got an Honorable Mention. Casey Robertson, a jun- ior and two-time selection on first team, set the bar for her teammates not only with her times, but with her work ethic and team leadership. She had the fifth-best time in the Sky- line Conference. Jasmine Prickett, a sen- ior, was named to the second team. Both girls went to state to represent the Cougars. Laurissa Tausaga, a jun- ior, was the lone representa- tive for the girls soccer team and received Honorable Men- tion. Tausaga inspired her teammates with her leader- ship and aggressive play on offense and defense. She never gave in, gave up or let down the entire game. She also made one of the two goals scored this sea- son by the Lady Cougars. Alex Miller Libero and Kayla “Jo Jo” Johnson, both juniors, were selected for Honorable Mention. Miller led the team in digs and John- son was just being Johnson and performed like she al- ways does in every sport she plays: flat out.
