Brandy’s Boutique a small store
with extensive variety and value
The recent closure of the
Goodwill Industries store in
Cave Junction made it diffi-
cult for many to purchase
clothing without having to
drive to Grants Pass.
Fortunately, there’s a
solution — Brandy’s Bou-
tique in Western Plaza next
to True Value Hardware.
Brandy’s Boutique is open
Wednesdays through Satur-
days from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Wayne Dussault opened
the store, where Brandy Do-
bler works, Feb. 25 and re-
cently the store celebrated its
six-month anniversary.
Brandy worked at Ama-
zon Queen, a plus-size
women’s boutique. Although
that business did not survive,
the couple decided to try
again. They already had an
extensive clothing inventory,
so when the space next to
True Value Hardware be-
came available, they moved
in.
“We love the
location,”
said
Brandy, “because we
get all the women
who are waiting
while their husbands
shop in True Value.”
Brandy’s Bou-
tique is a quiet little
mom-and-pop shop,
carrying a wide vari-
ety of gift items and
clothing in a variety
of all sizes up to 4x,
including new, used,
and consignment.
“Young girls love
getting ready for
back-to-school, as
we also carry sizes
four on up,” ex-
plains Brandy. “So
far we don’t sell
men’s clothing, be-
cause there’s not
enough room in
our shop.”
“We have a
wide
assort-
ment of jeans
starting at $15
and up, and leggings
starting at $10.”
Brandy’s Boutique
also offers a unique se-
lection of great gifts,
from Indian Dream-
catchers to carved ele-
phants. Purses, scarves,
tote bags, and beautiful
jewelry also are avail-
able at really low prices.
There is even a dollar
bowl of jewelry for
young girls to rummage
through.

Rogue Community Col-
lege has been awarded a
$37,345 grant by the Solid
Waste Agency of Josephine
County to fund the first year
of a proposed three-year recy-
cling project.
The grant will enable
RCC to create a “living labo-
ratory” of recycling activity at
the college, according to
Jeanne Howell, RCC associ-
ate dean.
“The first year of this
project will bring the Master
Recycler program to Jose-
phine County,” Howell said.
The Master Recycler pro-
gram, which has been estab-
lished in several Oregon
counties, provides informa-
tion to the public on waste
prevention and recycling and
helps achieve waste reduction
goals.
An AmeriCorps volun-
teer, supported by the grant,
will coordinate recycling ac-
tivities on campus and organ-
ize Master Recycler classes.
The AmeriCorps volunteer
position is funded from Tues-
day, Sept. 1 this year through
July 31, 2010. Salary for a
student worker dedicated to
recycling activity also was
funded, as was a golf cart to
move recycling bins around
campus.
Additional bins will be
placed on campus to encour-
age recycling.

Little League to sell drinks to Tuff Trucks crowds
As 2009 draws to a close,
the I.V. Little League (IVLL)
board members have been
gearing up for the group’s
major fund-raiser during the
Illinois Valley Lions Labor
Day Festival at Jubilee Park.
Along with the Little
League information and sales
booth on the strip at the park,
IVLL will provide a conces-
sion stand at the Tuff Truck
arena. The group will offer
cold soft drinks and water to
the public during the event.
“For the past two years,
the I.V. Lions have offered us
the opportunity to sell sodas
and water at the Tuff Truck
event, and it has become a
major part of our fund-raising
efforts,” said Janet Ewing,
IVLL president.
“Last year’s sales helped
us through this past year of
tough times,” she said. “The
Subscribe to the
money earned helped to pay
for sponsorships of kids
whose families just did not
have the money this year to
pay. Once again this year we
will be ready to refresh each
and every spectator and par-
ticipant in the arena area. Just
look for the baseball jerseys,”
says Ewing.
She states that,
“Preparing young athletes to
become champions is a major
part of the Little League pro-
gram, and it has been with the
help of many businesses, or-
ganizations and individuals,
that Illinois Valley Little
League has helped to prepare
many kids over the years that
have gone on to become
champion athletes, and we are
proud once again to be a part
of the I.V. Lions Labor Day
Festival.”
Parents who want to save
on their fees for next year,
can sign up at the IVLL booth
and receive a discount for
prepaying registration fees.
