(Photo by Zina Booth, Illinois Valley News ) Sponsored Feature: Suite of services at Back Street Salon Working at Shop Smart and volunteering with the Illinois Valley Rural Fire District with her husband Kamron was not enough of a chal- lenge for Kris Ismaili, so she pursued her next dream - doing nails. The 17-year Illinois Valley resident has done a wonderful job setting up cozy, private rooms for the variety of services offered in Western Plaza at Back Street Salon, which she opened in March 2008. There are two separate rooms for the tan- ning booths (“All-you-can-bake” special $30), with another room for waxings and facials. Patty Floate, the aesthetician, provides eve- rything from full body waxing to all-natural fa- cials using essential oils. Patty also offers face peels made from alpha-hydroxy acid that are so gentle they do not require any recovery time. Body wraps can be an effective way to lose weight and cellulite when combined with exer- cise and proper diet. Patty paints her client in sea mud wax, wraps her up in cellophane and bakes her in a heating blanket for 20 minutes. Another treatment to purify the body: a low feradic current detoxes the body through the feet when an electric array is dipped into a foot soak comprised of sea salt and water (not recom- mended for those with pacemakers). The pedicure room allows privacy so gen- tlemen getting their nails trimmed have their own area, separate from the perms, colors and nails, which are featured in the front rooms of the salon. Crystal Cruz started in November 2008 after managing at Great Clips in Grants Pass. Crystal has been in the Navy, a paralegal for JAG, security guard and weather person, but knows that she has now found her true calling as a fully-licensed cosmetologist. She loves traveling to learn more about Framesi color and styling products, and doing wild, wacky, fun nails in more than 100 colors. “Lots of people around here are on fixed incomes, so I offer $5 haircuts on Mondays for walk-ins” says Crystal. “I really enjoy doing a service to the community, plus I am having fun and keeping up on cutting hair all at the same time. All our services are affordable, quality work. If the customer doesn’t like it, we’ll fix it.” Denise Brown enjoyed tanning at Back Street Salon because she always felt welcome and comfortable, but was recruited to work when Crystal discovered Denise was a cosme- tology educator who has been doing hair since 1994 near Sacramento, Calif. Denise, who joined the crew mid-April, is a Redken color specialist as well as Paul Mitchell colors, and admits that color corrections are one of her fa- vorite challenges to tackle. Denise’s highlights feature no bleach and no damage in the lift & deposit, one-step process, and lowlights have no fading. A Chi permanent hair straightener is another of her services. Denise’s clients range from children to seniors, and she will schedule weekend appointments for her client’s conven- ience. Back Street Salon offers Spa packages that would make perfect gifts for Mother’s Day; choose from three combinations of haircuts, styles, color, facials and tanning. Current hours are 9-5, Mondays through Fridays, with Saturday appointments available, and may soon change to seven days-a-week. Phone 592-4277, or visit Back Street Salon at 222 N. Redwood Hwy. in Cave Junction. Senior discounts are available, and Visa & MasterCard are accepted. ~Zina Booth LEGAL NOTICE TRUSTEE’S NOTICE OF SALE Loan No.: 0596512305 T.S.
