charged with second-degree
robbery, possession of a con-
trolled substance/meth-
amphetamine, and parole

property is less than
$15,000, the assessor shall
cancel the tax assessment
for that year.

An intoxicated pedes-
trian was the likely cause of
a hit-and-run accident on
Caves Hwy. on Saturday
night, Feb. 21, said Oregon
State Police (OSP). An in-
vestigation is continuing.
65-year-old Jack Robert
Bond was hit as he walked
in the middle of Caves Hwy.
in the 900 block at 7:25
p.m., OSP said. The driver
of the westbound vehicle,
said to be a small, red two-
door passenger car, fled the
scene without stopping to
render aid or provide re-
quired information, said
OSP.
Bond was transported to
Three Rivers Community
Hospital with nonlife-
threatening injuries.
An attempt to locate was
distributed to law enforce-
ment agencies, OSP said.
The vehicle is said to have
damage to the front grill.
A man wielding what
was described as a large
knife wounded Selma resi-
dent Matthew Paul Spickard
early Saturday, said Jose-
phine County Sheriff’s Of-
fice (JCSO).
Spickard, 28, reported
that at approximately 1:30
a.m. he was attacked in the
24000 block of Hwy. 199 in
Kerby. He suffered a stab
wound through his right
forearm, and a laceration to
his head.
Spickard told deputies
that he’d been attacked by a
lone man “wielding a large
knife while he was walking

bull at Illinois River Forks
State Park, the dog’s owner,
Michael Walter Mangles, was
cited on a charge of having a
dog as an attractive nuisance.
*On Norman Road, a
man stated that he shot his
neighbor’s dog, which was
thought to have been attack-
ing other animals. The man
requested deputy contact.
*Mark Steven Tice, 56,
was cited to appear on a Jose-
phine County warrant charg-
ing harassment.
*Damage to a pickup
truck parked in Downtown
Cave Junction was caused by
a hit-and-run driver on Feb.
11, the owner reported.

Bernald, 48, was cited to ap-
pear on a warrant charging
failure to appear (FTA) on an
original charge of driving
while suspended (DWS). He
was warned for expired regis-
tration and switched plates,
and his vehicle was im-
pounded.
*Near Forks State Park,
Thaleda Lynn Prater, 49, was
cited on charges of driving
uninsured and having ob-
structed license plates.
*Also at the Forks, Jo-
seph V. Guess, 31, was cited
on charges of DWS and driv-
ing uninsured.
*Benjamin Charles In-
gram, 21, was cited on Eight
Dollar Mountain Road on a
charge of DWS. The passen-
ger, Brandi Lanell Miller, 21,
was cited on a charge of al-
lowing illegal operation of a
vehicle.
*George Edmond
Doney, 48, was cited on a
charge of DWS near Forks
State Park at 4:51 p.m. He
was warned regarding ex-
pired plates, and his vehicle
was impounded.
*Near Page Creek a
woman residing in a trailer
without electricity was con-
tacted. She was given a few
days to vacate the property.
*Following investigation,
Jess Paul Calderon, 23, was
cited on a charge of first-
degree theft and lodged in
Josephine County Jail in
Grants Pass.
Sunday, Feb. 15
*On E. River Street a
woman said that someone
knocked on her door and then
fled in a vehicle. She wanted
the incident logged.
*Brothers were reported
fighting about cutting trees on
mutually owned Iron Way
property.
*The operator of a white
Toyota pickup truck was said
to be driving erratically
through Downtown Cave
Junction at 6:56 p.m. Last
seen heading north on Red-
wood Hwy. at a high rate of
speed, the pickup also was
observed “going up on (the)
embankment.”
*Some sort of incident
involving a man yelling for
help from a white sedan was
reported at 8:32 p.m.
Monday, Feb. 16
*Some $500 damage and
a list of items taken from a
storage unit at the transfer
station on Kerby Mainline
were reported.
*Theft of a purse con-
taining cash, credit cards and
ID from a vehicle in the 100
block of Redwood Hwy. was
reported at 10:16 a.m.
*Two propane tanks
were reported stolen from a
Pine Cone Drive resident.
*While riding motorcy-
cles off Waldo Road, Mat-
thew T. Shawn Lopez, Chris-
topher George Culver, and
Bradley Dean Loyd, all 16,
each were cited on a charge
of no Off-Highway Vehicle
permit. And the trio was
warned about riding motorcy-
cles on a paved highway.
*At a camp on Rough &
Ready Creek, Herbert K.
Bright, 53, was arrested on a
warrant charging FTA on an
original DUII charge.
*A caller complained
that another man was cutting
trees along the high-water
mark of Illinois River on his
property. The caller also
stated that the tree-cutter
pulled a weapon and fired it.
Subsequently, Herbert Rus-
sell Higgins, 80, was cited on
charges of pointing a firearm
at another, reckless endanger-
ment, and menacing.
*Daniel Brent Morrison,
47, was cited on a warrant
charging FTA on original
charges of fourth-degree as-
sault, and DWS.
*A pair of dogs running
loose on Deer Creek Road
were said to have attacked a
resident’s canine and chased
the resident’s granddaughter.
*Theft of a commemora-
tive badge and ID holder val-
ued at $95 was reported by a
Selma resident.
*Following a noninjury
accident on a parking lot in
the 300 block of Redwood
Hwy. no one wanted to press
charges.
Tuesday, Feb. 17
*Some $350 in cash and
coin was reported taken from
Illinois Valley Praise Center
after an apparently unrelig-
ious thief smashed a bath-
room window to enter the
center; then broke into the
office. The caller stated that
he has suspect information.
*A 15-year-old boy was
reported as runaway from his
Westside Road residence.
*Rocks or a .BB gun
were used to damage a com-
pany vehicle in the 28000
block of Redwood Hwy., a
caller stated. He said that this
has happened before and that
he is concerned that a driver
could be hurt.
*Josephine County Sher-
iff’s Office received
$9,053.95 from the DEA for
seized assets.
*Acacia Elise Steinbach,
24, was cited on a charge of
speeding (74 mph in a posted
55 zone) on Redwood Hwy.
