On Saturday, Oct. 11; Saturday, Oct. 18; and Sunday, Oct. 19, historical interpreters will portray nine different pio- neer characters or families, including Indian fighters, bankers, tavern owners, physi- cians, judges, and other early residents whose spirits linger in Jacksonville. Saturday tours will begin at 4:30 p.m. and leave at 15- minute intervals from the Jack- sonville city parking lot at the end of West D Street. Sunday tours will begin at 2 p.m. and leave every 20 minutes. A jit- ney bus will transport visitors to the top of Cemetery Hill, where spirit guides will intro- duce them to the pioneers and their tales of the Civil War, wagon trains, gold mining, Indian attacks, homestead- ing, epidemics, and pioneer life. Tours will last approxi- mately one hour with the last tour leaving at 7:30 p.m. on Saturdays and at 5 p.m. on Sunday. Tour groups are limited to 25 people. To accommodate as many visi- tors as possible, tickets will be sold for specific time slots. Tickets can be pur- chased in advance at the Jacksonville Visitors Cen- ter, 185 N.
