Second Friday Art Walk on
Aug. 8 kicked off a weekend
of Blackberry Festival activi-
ties in Downtown Cave Junc-
tion. Among the art and
artists featured were

show at Changes Art Gallery;
birch-wood roses were dis-
played in front of Special Productions; Bonnie Campanoli with her origi-
nal hand-crafted Teddy bears at Treehouse Florist & Gifts; and Art Walk
coordinator Judy Hoyle had information about the Illinois River Valley
Arts Council (IRVAC) outside the Josephine County Bldg. Second Friday
ArtWalk is sponsored by IRVAC with support from Evergreen Federal

Colorful quilts will highlight
Valley Girls show Aug. 15,16
Colorful fabric creations
will be flying high during the
Valley Girls first quilt show
on Friday and Saturday, Aug.
15 and 16
at Illinois
Valley
Senior
Center on
E. River
Street in
Cave Junc-
tion.
It will
be the first
show
of
quilts gath-
ered by an
informal
group of
quilters
who have
dubbed themselves the “Valley
Girls.” The goal is to showcase
the artists and quilting styles of
Illinois Valley quilters.
The show, from 10 a.m. to
4 p.m. each day, is not a
judged or juried show, but there
will be a “People’s Choice”
award.
There is a small admis-
sion fee, and each attendee
will receive a small gift cus-
tom designed by the quilters.
Hamburgers, hot dogs and
desserts will be available for
purchase.
The Valley Girls Quilt
Show aims to promote quilt-
ing as well as educate the
public on the art of quilting,
organizers
note. Quilts
on display
will
in-
clude an-
tique work,
but
will
emphasize
contempo-
rary quilts
that have
never be-
fore been
shown.
A king-
sized quilt
created by
the quilters
will be raffled to help pay
show expenses. The quilt-
blocks feature images of
women wearing hats and with
outstretched arms – to wel-
come all to the show.
Raffle tickets are avail-
able at Picket Fence Fabrics,
379 Caves Hwy. in Cave
Junction, or they can be
purchased by contacting
Carol Dickson at 592-8521.
Raffle tickets also will be
available at the show. The
winning ticket will be drawn
at 4 p.m. Aug. 16.
