Page 4 Illinois Valley News, Cave Junction, OR Wednesday, July 30, 2008 SDA ‘trusted social networking’ announced BiggyTV announced the launch of SDALink, a “trusted social networking” platform that combines MySpace and YouTube func- tionality with the services of BiggySafe Social Network- ing, for the Seventh-day Ad- ventist Church. BiggyTV has been pro- viding the online video distri- bution for The Adventist Channel for the North Ameri- can Division of the SDA Church for nearly two years. SDALink was introduced to attendees at the 2008 Ad- ventist GIEN (Global Internet Evangelism Network) con- vention in Denver. SDALink is a subscription service oper- ated by BiggyTV. All content is uploaded and managed by individual Group Administra- tors. Groups include churches, schools, colleges, hospitals and outreach ministries in the A fund-raising spaghetti feed took in some $400 to benefit Illinois Valley Safe House Alliance (IVSHA). Turner Cave Junction resident Anna Elizabeth Turner, 91, also known as Ann and Nana, died on July 14, 2008, at Three Rivers Community Hospital in Grants Pass, with her daughter, Charlotte Baker, by her side. A private family service will be held to celebrate her life. Pastor Verne Hyland of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Cave Junction will conduct the service. Mrs. Turner was born to Manuel & Anna Leidig on Aug. 29, 1916, in Lake Charles, La. She was the first girl after three boys, and was born on her father’s birthday. Anna was a retired ac- countant from Riverside, Calif. She moved to Cave Junction July 25, l982, to be with her daughter and son-in-law at their home. She was a member of the Cave Junction Seventh- day Adventist church. Mrs. Turner loved God, her family, children, birds and gardening. She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte Baker, of Cave Junction; a son, Melvin Turner, of Cave Junction; a sister, Verena Newton, of Lake Charles; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Jack Turner; three brothers; and a sister. Illinois Valley Funeral Directors is in charge of ar- rangements. George W. Holmbeck Former Cave Junction resident and Grants Pass Fire Dept. employee George Wil- liam Holmbeck, 71, of Grants Pass, died Wednesday, July 23, 2008, at his home. Visitation was held Sun- day, July 27 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors Chapel. A funeral service was conducted Monday, July 28, at the chapel. Interment followed at Haw- thorne Memorial Gardens in Grants Pass. Remembrances may be made to Sparc Enterprises/ Stepping Stones, 1990 N.W. Washington Blvd., Grants Pass OR 97526. His hobbies included woodworking, fishing the Rogue River, and traveling. He especially loved his dog, Emily. Besides his wife, Evelyn Holmbeck, of Grants Pass; he is survived by four daughters, Nancy Burgess, of Anchorage, Alaska, Ronda Janisch, of Cen- tral Point, and Kathi Holmbeck and Kristi Roe, both of Grants Pass; three sons, William Holmbeck, of Medford, Bruce Holmbeck, of Bradenton, Fla., and Robert Holmbeck, of Cen- tral Point; two sisters, Dottie Johnson, of Grants Pass, and Christine Rush, of Eugene; two brothers, John Penn, of Eugene, and James Arling, of Portland; 17 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Road Section from 1965 to 1970. From 1970 to 1976 he worked at Rogue River Hardware, and at the same time started work for the Grants Pass Fire Dept. In 1976 he became a fire prevention officer for the department, where he stayed until his retire- ment in 1995. At age 17, he volunteered with the Rogue River Fire Dept. for two years. At age 21, he volunteered with the Grants Pass department until he be- came employed there begin- ning in 1970.
