Charges can be amended or dismissed.) * * * Friday, March 21 *Someone was reported firing a gun in the 400 block of Lakeshore Drive at 3:30 a.m. *A single gunshot was heard coming from a home on S. Sawyer Avenue at 9:30 a.m. *A landlord/tenant dis- pute was reported on Dog- wood Lane. *Stating that a woman had made threats against him and his wife, a Dick George Road resident sought a stalk- ing order. He was advised of his options. *On Pine Cone Drive a 14-year-old girl was coun- seled about her behavior after her parents reported she was hitting her siblings, and throwing rocks and manure. *After phoning 911 re- peatedly from the Selma Post Office to state that he didn’t want to live at his house any- more and would cut his wrists if no one picked him up, Mi- chael Tice, 54, was taken to Three Rivers Community Hospital on a peace officer’s mental hold. *No reason was discov- ered for a hold-up alarm from a restaurant in the 300 block of S. Redwood Hwy. at 11:11 p.m. *With a reported blood- alcohol content of .16, a driver was cited on charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants on E. River Street at 11:39 p.m. The vehicle was impounded. Saturday, March 22 *Although “baggies” and syringes with methampheta- mine residue were reportedly confiscated from a Lakeshore Drive residence, insufficient evidence was available to press charges. One person was advised to contact their probation officer. *On Illinois River Road a driver was warned for pass- ing over a double-yellow line, and for an undertagged load of firewood. *Brian Lavern Ruston, 47, was cited on a federal charge of driving with a sus- pended license (DWS) and warned for failure to carry proof of insurance. *On Cobalt Drive, a woman said that her neighbor threatened to burn her house after she confronted him about his dog killing hers. *Trespassers were re- ported at a property in the 2000 block of Holland Loop. *A dispute over owner- ship of a bulldozer was re- ported in Kerby, but the par- ties resolved the situation themselves. *Grace Helen Polk, 32, was cited on charges of DWS and driving uninsured on Redwood Hwy. at milepost 30 at 7:55 p.m. Polk also was warned for speeding. *A small, unattended campfire was discovered near Illinois River “Forks” State Park at 11:19 p.m. Sunday, March 23 *A black Toyota 4- Runner with two occupants was reported speeding and “spinning donuts” in the 5000 block of Holland Loop. *A single-vehicle acci- dent was reported in the park- ing lot at the Illinois Valley Family Coalition at 12:40 a.m., and the passengers were said to be hiding in nearby bushes. The driver was not located. *After they insisted that an unwanted young man leave, a Cave Junction resi- dent said that they received numerous threatening phone calls from the boy and his father. Both parties were con- tacted and the boy was warned for telephonic harass- ment and trespassing. *Robert Norman Kells, 18, was cited on a charge of driving uninsured, and warned for an obscured license plate, on Redwood Hwy. in the 21000 block at 1:26 a.m. *A driver reported that his parked car was damaged by a hit-and-run driver on E. Watkins Street at 1 p.m. *Erratic speed and failure to maintain a lane of travel were reasons given for report- ing a possible drunken driver on Holland Loop at 8:39 a.m. *Robert Charles Break- field, 44, was cited on a charge of DWS on Rockydale Road at 4:43 p.m. His vehi- cle was towed. *Two people were con- tacted in north CJ after a store employee reported that a woman was being rude, har- assing customers and asking for money. It was noted that the woman’s male companion was hostile throughout the contact with the deputy. *A man wearing all- black clothing and stinking of alcohol was said to be yelling and scaring customers at a restaurant in Downtown CJ at 8:19 p.m. He was “trespassed” from the busi- ness and told to contact his probation officer. *Otis Jones, 54, was cited on a charge of second- degree criminal trespassing after he was contacted at the CJ Post Office at 11:45 p.m. Monday, March 24 *Two men, arguing over money owed each, reported that the other had made threats involving a firearm. *Shannon Rebecca Loock, 19, was cited on a charge of speeding (38/20), and warned for failure to carry proof of insurance dur- ing a traffic stop on McMullen Creek Road at 12:18 p.m. *An O’Brien resident said that his neighbor threat- ened to shoot his dogs. He said the neighbor believes that his dog killed hers. *Montgomery Robert Leach, 21, was cited on a charge of speeding (73/55) at milepost 25 on Redwood Hwy. at 2:18 p.m. *Adam Jason Smith, 24, was cited on a charge of speeding (73/55) at milepost 26 on Redwood Hwy. *Following a report of two persons pushing their way into a residence in the 23000 block of Redwood Hwy., Debra Susan Wallis, 56, was cited under a Klamath County warrant charging criminal mischief with property damage. A re- port of criminal trespassing was to follow. *A mail carrier reported that she was stopped by a woman on Ken Rose Lane who tried to sell to her a gen- erator that was in the back of her blue pickup truck. *On Naue Way a woman reported receiving numerous phone calls, but no one speaking. Options were pro- vided. Tuesday, March 25 A drunk was said to be jumping into traffic on Red- wood Hwy. near Deer Creek Road at 3 p.m. *Michael Tice, 54, was lodged in Josephine County Jail on a charge of disorderly conduct after a caller reported that they could not keep him from walking onto Redwood Hwy. in Selma. *On Reeves Creek Road, a paraglider was reported to have crashed near a gravel pit. Cave Junction OR 97523 TELE: 541-592-3667 Passage of SB 1095, the bill to increase the bail amount for methampheta- mine dealers from $50,000 to $500,000, was led by House Republican Whip Gene Whisnant (R-Sunriver). Whisnant co-sponsored the bill because meth dealers were posting bond for as little as $500. “There should be no ‘get- out-of-jail discount’ for drug dealers who are pushing methamphetamine in our communities,” said Whisnant, who is vice chairman of the House Judiciary Committee. “SB 1095 sends the strong message that dealing methamphetamine in Oregon will be a very expensive oc- cupation,” he said. SB 1095 requires a court caller said. *A man was attempting to sell some generators, an air compressor and water pump out of the back of his pickup truck, said a caller, who thought that the situation was suspicious. *Jerry Victor Lewis Owens Jr., 24, was cited un- der a warrant from Mult- nomah County charging car- rying a concealed weapon. He also was cited on charges of DWS, and failure to carry proof of insurance. His vehi- cle was impounded. *A report of people shooting wild turkeys on White Schoolhouse Road was referred to OSP Fish & Game officers. *At Jubilee Park a caller reported hearing what sounded like teen-aged boys harassing homeless people at 8:15 p.m. *In Downtown CJ at 8:44 p.m. a man said that a young woman attempted to steal his van, collided with another vehicle and then fled on foot. *An “entire family” was said fighting in front of a resi- dence on S. Junction Avenue at 9:38 p.m. One person left, and no problem was reported upon a deputy’s arrival. Wednesday, March 26 *John Kevin Engles, 43, was cited on a charge of DWS and warned for speed- ing on Lakeshore Drive at McMullen Creek Road at 8:24 p.m. *In a dispute regarding tenancy and employment, a man reportedly was throwing and breaking items, and threatening to burn down a shop in the 27000 block of Redwood Hwy. The incident was deemed civil in nature. *In Selma, a man said that his mother received a phone call with a recorded message which stated she’d won a trip from a large na- tional store chain. A manager at the store said that no one from there would call about any kind of trip. to set bail at a minimum $500,000 for a person await- ing trial for methamphetamine crimes, if the judge has reason to believe the defen- dant will fail to appear in court, commit a new crime, or pose a threat to the public. The legislation applies to the most serious meth crimes, such as manufacturing the drug and dealing it to children. “This legislation targets the most serious offenders, or those meth dealers who can typically afford to post bond under current law,” said Whisnant. “SB 1095 is just one part of a comprehensive effort to address the metham- phetamine problem in Ore- gon.” SB 1095, whose chief sponsor is Sen. Doug Whit- sett (R-Klamath Falls), now moves to the governor’s desk for his signature. It’s one part of the Republican Safe Streets Agenda, announced by Senate Republicans, which includes adding 39 troopers for 24/7 state police coverage. Suspicious home fire extinguished A blaze of suspicious origin at a vacant home was extinguished by Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety fire- fighters Saturday, March 29. The fire at 681 Sunset Way was reported at 1:14 a.m. A corner of the single-story home was ablaze, with flames spreading to the roof. No inju- ries were reported.
