All persons listed are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Charges can be amended or dismissed.) * * * Saturday, Dec. 1 *On Norman Road at 12:40 a.m., a man claimed that he was assaulted. He was found to have suffered injury to one cheek and eye. His brother claimed that the man fell due to intoxication and injured himself. *The welfare of a man on Holland Loop was ascer- tained at the request of a rela- tive. *No violence appeared to have occurred at a Fir Drive home, deputies said. The resi- dent had told the caller’s wife, who notified officers, that someone had been killed there. *Mitchell Wayne Thorn- ton II, 20, was cited on the south side of Cave Junction on charges of speeding (65 in a 45 mph zone), driving with a suspended license (DWS) and driving uninsured. His vehicle was impounded. Sunday, Dec. 2 *A 42-year-old woman was taken into custody in Downtown CJ at 12:16 a.m. and transported to Three Riv- ers Community Hospital in Grants Pass for a mental evaluation. *A deputy stopped to investigate a “possible road rage incident” in the 24000 block of Redwood Hwy. in Kerby at 12:28 a.m., but it turned out not to be the case. No word on what was really going on. *A reported stolen vehi- cle was recovered, but not drivable, in the 3000 block of Lone Mountain Road. *People were riding ATVs and a motorcycle on property signed “No Tres- passing” in the 500 block of Schumacher Street, a caller said at 4:03 p.m. *A man conducting a protest on the sidewalk at Redwood Hwy. and W. Wat- kins Street was peaceful when a deputy contacted him, although a caller stated that the man had “pulled pepper spray” on someone who tried to approach. *Driver Nathaniel Le Gieth, 23, was cited in Down- town CJ at 9:22 p.m. on a charge of possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, and warned about a defective license plate light and failure to carry registration. *Troy Patrick Gilmore, 44, was cited on charges of DWS and failure to carry proof of insurance when stopped on Redwood Hwy. at Hamilton Lane at 10:08 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3 *Left without fuel at Hwy. 199 and Arrowhead Drive, a blue van was discov- ered missing a stereo, speak- ers, battery or radiator when the owner returned. *A caller reported that their vehicle had been hit while parked on a lot in Cave Junction the week prior. *Another vehicle was reportedly damaged by a hit- and-run driver in the 200 block of Redwood Hwy. around noon. *Two guitars, an ampli- fier, and two pounds of medi- cal marijuana were reported stolen from a residence on W. Schumacher Street. The vic- tim seemed to think she knew who dunnit. *A man wearing a camo suit and carrying a bag, base- ball bat and duct tape ap- peared to have broken into a home in the 29000 block of Redwood Hwy. The resident reportedly chased the suspect and his driver, but lost sight of them. *Oregon Dept. of Fish & Wildlife workers were spot- lighting for deer at 10 p.m. near Takilma at Four Corners. A resident, seeing the vehicle driving around slowly, phoned to report it. Tuesday, Dec. 4 *A brown horse was in the middle of Laurel Road at 4:25 a.m. *Three men were re- ported shooting deer on pri- vate property on Waldo Road. *On W. River Street a woman said that her boy- friend became argumentative and choked her. She claimed that he then pointed a rifle at her and forced her to sign over the title to her white Jeep, in which he left. Charges of fourth-degree assault, menacing, pointing a firearm at another, first- degree theft of a firearm and felon in possession of a fire- arm were all referred to the district attorney. *A $2,500 rock slab ready to be installed in a home under construction on Crickett Lane was smashed by an unknown person, ac- cording to a caller. The van- dal apparently took his crime for granite. Wednesday, Dec. 5 *A bicycle found in he 1000 block of Holland Loop was turned over to a deputy for safekeeping. *A valley resident re- ported that her ex-husband had contacted her approxi- mately 10 times by phone this morning, in violation of a restraining order. *No reason was found for an alarm at Dave’s Out- door Power Equipment at the south end of CJ at 7 p.m. *A woman on Crooks Creek Road was provided options after reporting an altercation with her husband. *A Dogwood Lane ten- ant said that his landlord was being abusive, but since they are related by marriage, he thought he should “let it go.” Thursday, Dec. 6 *After gunshots were fired to frighten an animal away from livestock on Nor- Does someone’s drinking bother you? The dispatcher phoned the offending spot- light owner about his actions. *A 70-year-old man was reportedly assaulted by a 19- year-old on S.
