A report of fourth-degree domestic assault was referred. *An officer responded to a report of an aggressive per- son at Jubilee Park at 9:16 a.m. Among those contacted were Jeremy Justine Smith, 27, cited on a charge of fail- ure to appear (FTA) on an original third-degree theft charge; and Charles Derieft Brooks, 59, cited on an charge of FTA on an original charge of driving under the influence of an intoxicant. *Suspect information and video evidence of an act of vandalism at Lorna Byrne Middle School was referred with a second-degree criminal mischief charge to the Jose- phine County D.A. *A foster parent in rural Cave Junction complained of telephonic harassment by a biological parent. *Following a noninjury motor vehicle accident (MVA) in the 24000 block of Redwood Hwy., Christopher Michael Williams, 28, was cited on a Douglas County warrant charging contempt of court on an original charge of driving with a suspended li- cense. *Theft of a man’s bicycle valued at $75 from a front yard in the 300 block of Caves Hwy. was reported at 4:16 p.m. *A motorist phoned at 4:18 to report that he’d seen a man hitting a woman near Lakeshore Drive and Red- wood Hwy. The woman, it was determined, fled. A re- port of fourth-degree domes- tic assault was referred. *Sent to locate a smol- dering fire near Seats Dam, a deputy located a campfire covered with dirt. She also reported several vehicles leaving upon arrival of her patrol car. (Maybe they had a scanner? The rumor was that there was a beer bust for teen- agers). *Bleeding from one ear, a 33-year-old Cave Junction woman was taken to Three Rivers Community Hospital following a reported assault in the 400 block of S. Red- wood Hwy. Palmer Street was reported to city of CJ employees around 2 a.m. *Subsequent to an MVA the day before, Christopher Michael Williams, 28, was cited on a charge of driving without insurance. *A bicycle rider reported trespassing on property in Selma at 6 p.m. threatened to sue the land owner, claiming that he fell and hurt himself. The caller sounded intoxi- cated, the dispatcher noted. *Near the Illinois Valley Substation an individual ID’d by an officer as “The Run- ning Man” was warned about littering. (That’s why there often seems to be trash there). *In Selma a man phoned 911 to complain about an officer. He was warned about misuse of 911 and told to phone the sheriff’s office dur- ing regular business hours. *Yelling and screaming indicative of a domestic dis- turbance were heard in the 100 block of Kerby Street, a pair of callers said at 9:12 p.m. *“Rowdy” persons stopped along the roadside near Lake Selmac Resort at 9 p.m. were said to have given a man some “guff” when asked to quiet down. An offi- cer didn’t locate the group. *An intoxicated man was yelling and making threats on Millie Street at 11:13 p.m. Sunday, June 3 *A woman requested help retrieving her belongings from a Norman Road resi- dence because her ex- husband, she said, would not allow her to leave with them. *On Millie Street a woman complained that her ex-boyfriend had taken her puppy. It was learned that the dog had been a joint acquisi- tion, and the matter was deemed civil. The complain- ant was advised of options. * An t h o n y Th o ma s Spain, Andrew Scott Gallego, and Mitch Anthony Howland, all 20, each were cited on a federal charge of minor in possession of alcohol at McCaleb Ranch at 2:05 p.m. *A man on Happy Camp Road said that his neighbor tried to run him off the road, apparently while both were in motor vehicles. *In the vicinity of Red- wood Hwy. and Westside Road at 5 p.m., someone was discharging what sounded to the caller like an “assault ri- fle,” and rounds were landing on his property, he said. *In a co ntinuing “neighborly” dispute on Happy Camp Road, a man claimed that his neighbor caused some $500 damage to an automatic gate. *His step-daughter punched him in the mouth, knocked him down, kicked him and took his car, said a man calling from near Lake Selmac. Due to the intoxica- tion levels of the victim and a supposed witness, they were to be recontacted later. Monday, June 4 *Debris, but no vehicles, was found after a reported crash on Redwood Hwy. at Laurel Road at 1:07 a.m. *Damage to a chain-link fence caused with bolt cutters at the city of CJ water treat- ment plant was reported. *Graffiti was spray- painted by some of the area’s intellectuals on the snack bar at Jubilee Park. *Someone acquired a Direct TV account in his name at property he used to own on Happy Camp Road, a man complained. *Campers were reported to have left Spalding Pond campground near Eight Dol- lar Mountain and not re- turned, said a worried man. *A U-Haul truck re- ported stolen from Eugene was recovered from White Schoolhouse Road. *A pickup truck was said to be stolen from Shady Acres RV park. *A 37-year-old man was warned about lying on the road in CJ on N. Redwood Hwy. at 8:16 p.m. *Not permitted to pur- chase alcohol or cough medi- cine, a 63-year-old man, who’d been warned against trespassing before, was refus- ing to leave Shop Smart Food Warehouse around 8 p.m. *Wade K. Holder, 31, was arrested on a charges of fourth-degree domestic as- sault and interfering with a 911 call. He was lodged in county jail. Tuesday, June 5 *Twenty black plastic pots, 12 bags of “Grow and Bloom” soil and a bag of perlite were taken from Dil- lon’s Nursery & Garden Cen- ter after a break-in reported at 2:31 a.m. Damage to the front door of the business also was noted. *Following a disturbance in Kerby at 3:59 a.m., one person elected to leave, at least temporarily. *Persons reported miss- ing from Spalding Pond campground were located. They were fine, but did not want their location disclosed, as they had left the campout, they said, because of the be- havior of the person who had reported them missing. *The owner of a business in Cave Junction wanted a woman warned about her behavior because, he said, she was yelling and using pro- fanities. *Intoxicated and yelling, a man with a dog was causing a disturbance at a business in Selma at 7:25 p.m. *In the 27000 block of Redwood Hwy. a neighbor reported a man and woman fighting. When he asked the couple if help was needed, he related, he was told to mind his own business. *Following a minor MVA on Redwood Hwy. at Palmer Street at 9:43 p.m., one of the drivers, said to be intoxicated, became angry when the sheriff’s office was called and drove away. *Clever young men in a blue pickup truck were seen knocking over trash cans on Hanby Lane around 8:45 p.m. charged with manufacturing, possession and delivery of a controlled substance/heroin. Pitts also was charged with being a felon in possession of a weapon. Ortiz, a transient, was charged with possession of a controlled substance (PCS)/ heroin, and first-degree theft by receiving. Tibbs, of L Street in Grants Pass, was charged with PCS/heroin. Suiter, a transient, ini- tially gave the name, Michael J. Hamilton. He initially was charged with PCS/heroin. Selig said that under his real name, the suspect was ar- rested on multiple felony ar- rest warrants out of Josephine County related to drug-related crimes, a stolen car crime, and giving a false name to police. Also under warrants, Grants Pass Police arrested Suiter on charges of first- degree burglary, interfering with police, and third-degree criminal mischief. Five persons were ar- rested on charges including possession of heroin during a search warrant service at a home in the city of Grants Pass, said Det. Sgt. Ken Selig of Josephine Interagency Nar- cotics Team (JOINT). JOINT detectives forced their way into the home at 1475 Cameo Court Thursday, June 7 at 9 a.m. when repeated calls to come to the door failed, Selig said. JOINT was aided by officers from Oregon State Police and Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety. Arrested were Joshua F. Pitts, 23; Stacy Coffman, 22; Little Eagle Ortiz, 22; Alisha Tibbs, 18; and Gabriel Suiter, 33. Officers seized 78 grams of Mexican tar heroin, scales, packaging material, and three handguns. One of the guns, a .45-caliber weapon, was reported stolen from a Jose- phine County resident earlier this year, said Selig. The dwelling involved is the home of Pitts and Coffman.
