Anna Mae Richards
A Celebration of Life for
Anna Mae Richards, who
died at age 86 on Feb. 27,
2007, will be held Saturday,
May 19 at 2 p.m. at her resi-
dence.
Robert ‘Lee’ Lewis
Robert “Lee” Lewis, 91,
of Cave Junction, died Satur-
day, May 5, 2007 at a rest
home in Grants Pass.
Private interment was
held at Laurel Cemetery in
Cave Junction. Illinois Valley
Funeral Directors was in
charge of arrangements.

Mr. Lewis was born
Nov. 26, 1915 in San Saba,
Texas to Martin and Mary
Lewis. In 1936 he moved
from Arizona to Cave Junc-
tion to work on Oregon
Caves and build trails in the
valley area with the Civilian
Conservation Corps.
On Dec. 19, 1937 in
Grants Pass he married
Marbel “Martelle” Maurer.
For 45 years he worked in
mills including Salvage Lum-
ber Co., Moore’s Mill, and
Krause’s Mill.
He belonged to Masonic
Belt Lodge 18 in Kerby for
more than 50 years. His hob-
bies were gardening, building
tables and birdhouses, and
hunting and fishing.
Besides his wife of
nearly 70 years, Martelle
Lewis, of Cave Junction; he
is survived by a son, Doug
Lewis, of Medford; a sister,
Louise Harris, of Clovis,
N.M.; a brother, John Lewis,
of Knox City, Texas; three
grandchildren; five great-
grandchildren; and one great-
great-grandson.
He was preceded in
death by a son, Martin Lee
Lewis, in 1982.
Fred B. Farnham
Fred Bernard Farnham,
73, of Cave Junction, died
Saturday, May 5, 2007 at
Three Rivers Community
Hospital in Grants Pass.
A family service will be
held. Southern Oregon Cre-
mation Services is in charge
of arrangements.
Mr. Farnham was born
on Feb. 21, 1934 in Hollister,
Calif. to Walter and Jeanette
Farnham. On Oct. 20, 1979,
in Carson City, Nev., he mar-
ried Jeannette Moore. He
worked as a Nissan auto me-
chanic for 50 years in Cali-
fornia. In 1985 he moved
from San Jose, Calif. to Cave
Junction, where he owned
and operated Fred’s Automo-
tive for 10 years.
His hobbies included
hunting, fishing, gardening,
and hanging out with friends.
He enjoyed outdoor activities
and his dogs.
Besides his wife,
Jeannette Farnham, of Cave
Junction; he is survived by
two sons, Christopher Farn-
ham, of Selma, and Fred
Farnham Jr., of Kamiah,
Idaho; and four grandchil-
dren.
Scott A. Tracy
Scott Alan Tracy, 38 of
Cave Junction died Sunday,
April 29, 2007 at a nursing
home in Grants Pass.
No service is planned at
this time. Funeral arrange-
ments are by Stephens Family
Chapel in Grants Pass.
Mr. Tracy was born on
Nov. 7, 1969 in Downey,
Calif. to Kenneth and Mary
Tracy.
He is survived by his
sister, Susan Michelle Tracy,
of Billings, Mont. He was
preceded in death by his par-
ents, Kenneth & Mary Tracy.
Airborne fund aims to back school arts, music
With more school dis-
tricts struggling to keep pro-
grams in arts and music alive,
the nation’s leading herbal
product announced that it will
provide some much-needed
relief to school districts
throughout the country.
Teachers in Three Rivers
School District are eligible to
apply for the Airborne
Teacher Trust Fund, a non-
profit charitable corporation.
It will help fund art and music
programs in elementary and
middle schools that are in
jeopardy of being lost due to
budgetary limitations.
The Airborne Teacher
Trust Fund is beginning with
an investment of $250,000.
Grants ranging from $200 to
$10,000 will be awarded
teachers to implement pro-
grams during the 2007-2008
school year.

free Spring Concert on Sun-
day, May 20 at 2 p.m. Jean
Robertson is director. Father
Harry Holwell, a classical
pianist, will play such pieces
as Finlandia, Pathetique So-
nata, and Barbiere Overture,
as well as other compositions.
St. Patrick’s Harmonizers
also will perform. Refresh-
ments will be served in Elliott
Hall after the concert.
