Thursday, April 12 *Because someone would not return his indoor grow lights, a Kerby man was upset. Friday, April 13 *A reported stolen pickup truck was fully in- volved in flames at Laurel Road and E. River Street at 12:13 a.m. *Some nut stole a golf cart from I.V. Golf Course and then damaged part of the turf by “doing broadies.” *In Cave Junction a driver was weaving his car all over, apparently because he was using a cell phone. *Theft of fishing gear valued at $1,160 was re- ported on Old Stage Road. *Halfway up Hay’s Hill an officer found a love seat and a chair in the middle of Redwood Hwy. They were removed. *A man who grows medical marijuana in CJ said that he’s been receiving threatening phone calls from a Medford man. *No problems were found after an alarm at Dave’s Outdoor Power Equipment. *Extra patrol was pro- vided at a CJ bar. *Gunshots were heard at 10:51 p.m. in the 1900 block of Thompson Creek Road. Saturday, April 14 *Theft of a 20-year-old pickup truck with a broken windshield and a large dent in the driver’s side door was reported on N. Hussey Ave- nue. *Seven loose cows in the 4000 block of Takilma Road were mooing about. *There was an alarm at Blakeley’s Automotive, but no problem was located. *How now, brown cow was indicated by a bovine wandering on and off Takilma Road in the 4000 block. *Although she was weaving her car about, a woman on Draper Valley Road wasn’t intoxicated. She was warned. *An alarm sounded at Valley Open Door in Selma, but all seemed OK. *The park host at the county portion of Lake Sel- mac reported that someone backed a pickup truck to a yurt, and removed nearly all the furniture after cutting the lock. *Before emergency per- sonnel could reach the scene, a man who suffered a severe hand laceration at the south end of CJ fled. He had tried to grab a chain around a dog. Sunday, April 15 *A large group of juve- nile persons was reported at Redwood Hwy. and Watkins Street throwing items onto the road at 43 past midnight. *Following a 1:50 a.m. complaint, Olena H. Davis, 25, was cited on S. Junction Avenue to appear on a charge of failure to comply with a diversion agreement in con- nection with driving under the influence of an intoxicant (DUII). *Jubilee Park was pa- trolled at 2:22 a.m., and Ever- green Elementary School six minutes later. *At 2:40 a.m. at Caves Hwy. and Laurel Road, De- nise G. Engebretson, 48, was cited to appear on a charge of DUII. She also was cited on charges of unlawful posses- sion of a firearm, speeding, failure to use turn signal, driv- ing without insurance, and refusing a blood alcohol con- tent evaluation. *Because a woman re- peatedly contacted a man’s cell phone while he was in- volved in a traffic stop at 3:59 a.m. in CJ, she was warned about telephonic harassment. He was warned about speed- ing and failure to maintain lane. *The CJ Post Office was checked at 4:27 a.m. *Some sort of 4:33 a.m. incident involving a scream- ing woman yelling, “Mark,” on Wild Park Lane turned out OK. *Dustin Hardie, 21, was cited on a charge of driving 75 in a 55 mph zone on the north side of Selma at 5:15 a.m. *Disorderly conduct was checked on W. Lister Street. The complainant was told to phone again if the problem continued. *James T. Evans, 49, was cited on a charge of speeding at Rockydale and Waldo roads. *Phone line problems apparently caused a weird noise and an odd recording on S. Junction Avenue. *Someone was said to have pulled a gun on some- one else at a CJ bar, and a report was pending on at- tempted first-degree robbery, and menacing. *Djuan Reed, 29, was cited on a charge of speeding in Kerby. Tuesday, April 17 *Damage and theft at a vacant rental home were re- ported on Reeves Creek Road. Thursday, April 19 *A fire on an exterior wall at Art’s Red Garter was extinguished. It appeared that someone ignited flammable material on the sidewalk. *Following theft of two $800 water meters reported by the city of CJ, a woman was reported trying to sell them at a scrap yard in Grants Pass. *People were having a problem in the 9000 block of Takilma Road. *An eighth-grade student appeared intoxicated. He later said that he took vodka from his mother’s bedroom. Friday, April 20 *In Takilma, a man on Saturday, May 12, Noon to 4 p.m. I.V. Senior Center - 520 E. River St. 3-game Sheet 25¢ Snack Bar open at 11 a.m. with: Burgers, Hot Dogs, Pies & Cakes Page 17 THREE DEPUTIES in two patrol vehicles from Josephine County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) responded to Jubilee Park on Friday, April 27, following a 5:29 p.m. report that there was a large group with guns and bats. It was determined that the incident actually involved two people in mutual combat, with a large crowd watching. No weapons were involved, and no one was threatened, said JCSO. Phillips, 54, was arrested on a warrant charging two counts of sec- ond-degree possession of a controlled substance. *An estranged couple and the woman’s boyfriend figured in a disturbance in Selma. The husband wanted a hug. *A confused man who stopped his car in the middle of the highway in CJ was helped home. *Two disturbances were reported at the south end of CJ around 11 p.m. Sunday, April 22 *A runaway boy, 16, was reported in the 18000 block of Redwood Hwy. *A runaway girl, 15, was reported on Dick George Road. Later, she was located. *Three black loose cows were in the 3000 block of Dick George Road. *Gunshots on Happy Camp Road were found to have been fired safely. *On Redwood Hwy. near River Street a man kept darting into traffic. Wednesday, April 25 *An audible alarm on Lone Mountain Road at 6:52 a.m. was caused by a broken pipe. *There was a dispute in the 7000 block of Holland Loop about theft from a vehi- cle. *Assistance was ren- dered in Jubilee Park after a complaint that a large group of middle school students were on an outing, and that there were several transients in the park, who were drink- ing alcohol and had a bunch of dogs. *Assault on a woman Friday, April 27 *Gunshots were heard at 1:06 a.m. in Downtown Cave Junction near car washing equipment. *Following a 4:19 a.m. alarm at Wild River Brewing & Pizza Co. in Downtown CJ, no one could figure out why the alarm went off. *James C. Wheeler, 20, was warned about speeding near milepost 25 of Redwood Hwy. *On N. Junction Avenue a woman claimed that three known drug dealers were conducting business in the middle of the street. on E. River Street was re- ported. *From a CJ bar came a call that a suspicious woman was present and that she was a suspect in a burglary at the complainant’s house. *Following statements of concern about a boy, 9, who ran from school, he was lo- cated at his home. *While a man removed three children from a Selma residence, a deputy stood by to keep the peace. *Following a complaint that a boy, 7, was screaming profanities and was out of control, everything was OK. *Around 10:30 p.m. on Althouse Road a woman was worried because her ex- husband was intoxicated and kicking her door. The situa- tion eventually wound down as the man said he couldn’t find his cigarettes, and was given a ride to a relative’s home in Cave Junction. *Jeremy D. Dutton, 25, was arrested in CJ on a charge of probation violation. *On Dick George Road a motorcycle was repossessed. *Herbert K. Bright, 52, whose last-known address was in CJ, was cited in Grants Pass on a Josephine County warrant. *A CJ man said that a woman had taken a company laptop computer and would- n’t return it. The situation was deemed civil in nature be- cause the device had been given as a gift. *On Rockydale Road at Crest Drive, a woman was warned about speeding. *In Kerby a woman complained that a contractor was taking photos of the site on which he had been work- ing. The two were said to be yelling at each other. The situation involves a lawsuit. *A reported “mental sub- ject” on Lakeshore Drive was found to be upset, but not a danger to himself. *It was reported that an intoxicated woman on Tracy Lane screamed at children and threw a pizza against a wall. *Supposedly a man who stole a shotgun from a CJ man returned and said he was coming back with a gun. It was deemed a case of first- degree theft and unlawful entry to a motor vehicle. *The possibility of a prowler, maybe on a motor- cycle, was reported in the 9000 block of Takilma Road.
