Claudia Lake and Mar- sha Nilles are eager to con- tinue the tradition set by pre- vious owners Rebecca Pear- son and Bob Burt. They took over the business in Down- town Cave Junction approxi- mately a month ago. Lake and Nilles partici- pated in the November Sec- ond Friday Art Walk, and were involved in the final one of 2006 on Dec. 8. She has bachelor’s and master’s degree in thea- ter arts. She also taught the topic in Hollywood, and has been involved in semiprofes- sional (with an Equity waiver) and amateur pro- ductions. Plus, she has di- rected productions. She is employed by the state of California, and finds herself working at BeBe’s mostly on weekends. She enjoys woodcraft, and she and Nilles have col- laborated on some projects. Nilles said that her fam- ily provided her an art back- ground, although she spent 17 years training people to safely ride motorcycles. Her art specialty is hand-engraving, and with her steady hand she has done some amazing egg engraving. As well, she etches glass; some of her work in the latter is at Rose of Sharon for wedding and celebrations. The new co-owners of BeBe’s like living where there are four seasons, and they enjoy the rural atmos- phere, plus being in a small community. They would like to gain more consignments of stained glass and workcraft. And they’re looking forward to an artful future.
