Page 24 Illinois Valley News, Cave Junction, OR Wednesday, October 25, 2006 Plans for Boys & Girls Club facility near Jubilee Park supported by CJ Esthetician Claire Sierra, owner of Deva Treetop Spa Leafy green and serene, treetop spa services are the ‘bliss ticket’ Wrapped in warm blankets and towels, a young woman luxuriated in a gentle facial massage, as the cozy treehouse swayed slightly. “It's very relaxing,” she murmured, “It's like rocking to sleep.” Deva Spa owner and Esthetician Claire Sierra smiled, knowing the unique motion of the elevated retreat gives her spa a de- lightful distinction. Located at Out 'N' About Treesort in Takilma is Deva Spa -- “the first treetop spa in the world” -- with just the right combina- tion of woodsy seclusion and atmospheric serenity for a restful visit. At Deva (pronounced DAY-vah) Spa, Sierra in- tegrates her specialized training in skin-care and Reiki body work, with her experience as a Life Coach. Deva Treetop Spa offers an array of nurturing and rejuvenating treat- ments for men and women. Services include cus- tomized facials to refresh and renew, purifying clay body masks and revitaliz- ing body polishes with salts and aromatherapy oils. She also offers Reiki, an Oriental energy body- work for stress reduction, gem therapy, and life coaching. Waxing services as well as packages and day retreats featuring yoga, meditation and creative expression are also avail- able. All treatments are ca- tered to an individual's specific needs, with an intention of creating en- hanced well-being for body, mind and spirit. Sierra sees her services as offering relief from daily life stressors before they accumulate and be- come unbearable. “Sometimes people need a bit of a reward," Sierra noted. “We can't all fly off to Hawaii. “These treatments are like a mini-vacation," she said. “An hour and-a-half get-away to give yourself some relaxation and per- spective. “And you can be home in time for dinner." To some, Sierra con- cedes, the idea of such pampered indulgence may seem extravagant. “But what price” she asks, “can you put on sanity?” Since the spa's open- ing on Sept. 22, Sierra said that she's had positive re- sponse from community members. They exclaim gratefully that they no longer have to drive to Ashland, or wherever, to enjoy the happy benefits of the spa. Finally, these quality, nurturing services are available right here in Illinois Valley, she’s heard. After an exhaustive search, Sierra chose to feature the Lotus Moon line of skin-care products. “Lotus Moon is a professional, spa line. It's really the best synthesis of high-tech, high- performance ingre- dients and organic and holistic ingre- dients,” Sierra said. All the products she uses are available for purchase, so that a client can have that special mois- turizer, mask or toner at home. Through the end of the year, Sierra is offering a Grand Opening Special: 25 percent off the regular cost of services. This includes Deva Treetop Spa gift cer- tificates. The council noted its backing during its meeting in city hall Monday night, Oct. 23. The council was ad- vised of the plan for a capi- tal campaign to obtain fund- ing by Scott Thornhill, di- rector of the club’s Illinois Valley section. “The club is looking at the northeast corner of the park,” said Mayor Tony Paulson. He added that the city is working with the state and a private property owner on a plan to swap equal amounts of property to be able to accommodate the planned new facility. The statement support- ing the plan, approved 5-0, states in part: “We are especially en- thused about the community center aspect the club is en- visioning for its new build- ing. The opportunity for community members and groups to utilize the facility is exciting. “The new club building will not only create a posi- tive, fun and safe place for the youth of Cave Junction, but for the entire Illinois Valley community. “We view the club as a primary source of youth programs for our city and valley youth. We understand that the club provides after- summer programs, this all contributes to reducing and helping to prevent juvenile delinquency in our commu- nity. “We know that the effect of this project will reach well beyond the Boys & Girls Club’s immediate programs. It will provide an immense and continuing benefit and resource to the valley for many generations.” school programs for kids 6 to 18. The proposed location fits nicely within the geo- graphical locations of our city’s three public schools. “The club’s youth de- velopment strategies, and core programs, have proven very effective in affecting our youth’s self-esteem and character.
