Charges can be amended or dismissed.) * * * Saturday, July 15 *On Caves Hwy. at 12:21 a.m., a 24-year-old man was punched in one eye when he tried to obtain the license plate number of the truck which had just backed into another car. The assailant drove away. *Two men driving a white pickup truck were seen mess- ing with fuel pumps at Day Oil Co. on Caves Hwy. at 3:21 a.m. A control box for the pump was damaged, but it was unknown if the pair made off with any gasoline. Presumably, the pilfered fuel would have been in a big oil drum in the bed of the pickup. *At 8:30 a.m. on Lake Selmac, a “hostile” man in a boat refused to stay out of areas marked off for an event. A park ranger was to handle the prob- lem. *Joseph Jeremy Gravatt, 21, was cited on a charge of failure to maintain a lane (FaMaLa), on Illinois River Road at 11 a.m. *James M. Brockman, 29, was cited on charges of driving with a suspended license (DWS), driving uninsured, and FaMaLa. He also was named in warrants charging failure to appear (FTA) on charges of unlawful possession of methamphetamine, FTA fourth-degree assault, and fail- ure to comply with terms of probation. He was lodged in Josephine County Jail. *Steven D. Simmons, 44, was cited on charges of FaMaLa and failure to wear a seat belt on Illinois River Road at 2:05 p.m. *Five minutes later on the same stretch of road, Rosa Lee Hudgen, 45, was cited on charges of driving uninsured and FaMaLa. Her vehicle was impounded. *Also charged with FaMaLa: Scot L. Gibson, 35; Chelsea E. Fine, 31; Manuel B. Ramirez, 37; Frank B. Rossi Jr, 34; Wesley E. Gresham, 29, (also cited for lack of adequate fenders); and Karl L. Smith, 43; *On Little Grayback Road a woman said that she believed her agoraphobic son was in psychotic breakdown, and needed hospitalization. *Vehicles whose drivers had come to pick blueberries were parked on Takilma Road such that they straddled the fog line, and an anonymous caller thought it dangerous. *Terry W. Chance, 41, was cited on charges of driving uninsured and failure to wear a seatbelt in the 4000 block of Illinois River Road. *In Kerby a group of men was seen following another man around after a argument stemming from an earlier inci- dent, apparently with the inten- tion of beating him. *Rum-and-beer-drinking men in a Ford pickup truck were said to be driving on Seats Dam and in the woods nearby at 9:30 p.m. Sunday, July 16 *At 2:30 a.m. a caller warned of a highly intoxicated driver, who was “taking the back way from Bolan Lake Campground,” headed for Hol- land Loop. *On Schumacher Street a resident said that someone of- ten rings her doorbell, but that no one is at the door. Also, she could hear pounding on an outside wall, and other resi- dents have had the same prob- lem. *Thieves entered an unlocked vehicle on S. Junc- tion Avenue early this morn- ing, taking a .22-caliber re- volver, 10 compact discs and a cell phone *A child heard screaming in the area of Holland Store elicited a concerned call at quarter to 10 a.m. *Brandon C. Mann, 18, was cited on a charge of driv- ing uninsured on W. Lister Street at 11 a.m. *Pulled over due to an inoperable brake light in the 900 block of Caves Hwy., Jo- seph R. Hernandez, 26, was cited on charges of driving uninsured and without a driver’s license. His vehicle was towed. *Mangled, difficult-to- read tags on his car prompted an officer to stop Leland E. Howard, 36, who was subse- quently cited on charges of DWS and driving uninsured. Howard’s vehicle was im- pounded. *Just after 8 p.m. a caller complaining about loud music from a neighbor’s house in the 9000 block of Holland Loop was told that the noise ordi- nance doesn’t take effect until 10 p.m. *It was reported that a man was beaten and robbed at Bolan Lake Campground around 2 a.m., and he was taken to Three Rivers Commu- nity Hospital at 5:45 p.m. *A man was stalking around Illinois River “Forks” State Park, threatening to set it on fire at 9 p.m. Monday, July 17 *At 4:20 a.m. a prowler was heard to cough in bushes near a residence on S. Sawyer Avenue. *In the 400 block of S. Redwood Hwy. a man with a bloody mouth was seen run- ning toward “first bridge.” A deputy was unable to locate him or any disturbance. *Two callers reported a man lying partially on the road on Hwy. 199 near “Forks” State Park around 4 p.m. Med- ics could not locate him. *Overnight somewhere along Illinois River, thieves broke into a vehicle by smash- ing the rear window with a rock, and stole a camera phone and radar detector. *At 7:05 p.m. a man was said to be lying on the side of Hwy. 199 just south of O’Brien Country Store. *A 21-year-old man on Shadowbrook Drive was re- ported by his mother to have stabbed his younger brother in the chest, breaking the skin. *Some sort of disturbance between several people at Lake Selmac at 9:30 p.m. had calmed down to a misunder- standing when a deputy ar- rived. Tuesday, July 18 *Mother and daughter on S. Old Stage Road were fight- ing about overalls at 8:30 a.m., a call-taker overheard. The matter had been resolved be- fore a deputy could get there. *Contacted near Selma Post Office, Alan J. Beck, 22, was named in a Multnoma Justice Court warrant charging third-degree criminal mischief. He also was cited on charges of failure to carry and present an operator’s license, giving false information to police, and driv- ing uninsured. *Ryan P. Borth, 21, was arrested on charges of at- tempted first-degree assault and two counts of domestic menacing on Shadowbrook Drive. *Waiting with a U-Haul truck to retrieve her belongings from a Deer Creek Road resi- dence, a woman was not being allowed inside, she said. When a deputy arrived, the subjects involved had come to an agree- ings was left on the street. *In the 5000 block of Rockydale Road the owner of an empty house for sale found that someone was living in a 30-foot motorhome illegally plugged into the electrical ser- vice. He requested assistance having them move on. Friday, July 21 *On N. Boundary Avenue a maroon-colored Dodge pickup truck was reported sto- len at 7 a.m. *Though warned not to do so, a woman came onto a prop- erty on Pine Cone Drive and was bitten by the resident’s dog. The matter was logged for information. *Reportedly having caused a disturbance by fight- ing with others and slashing tires at Bolen Lake Camp- ground, a 30-year-old man was warned not to trespass there. His companion, James David Breedlove, was cited on a charge of having an open con- tainer of alcohol. *Arrin Shane Farmer, 26, was cited for failure to pay a campground fee at Bolan Lake Campground at 8:46 p.m. *Some $120 was reported taken from an cupholder in an unlocked vehicle while the driver was in Speedy Mart at 10:21 p.m. Saturday, July 22 *Erik Joshua Kovic, 37, was cited on warrants listing FTA on charges of DUII and reckless driving. He was also cited on charges of DWS and driving uninsured and the vehi- cle impounded. *On a Downtown CJ parking lot, a man, 62, was warned for failure to give way in connection with a patrol car Eden Inspector Mark Atwood Full Service he felt was blocking a drive- way. *Stopped with an unreada- bly dirty license plate in the 600 block of Caves Hwy., Mitchell Camacho, 24, was cited on charges of DWS and driving uninsured. His vehicle was impounded. *Jeanette Marie Garcia, 28, was cited on charges of failure to obey a traffic control device, and failure to restrain a child when pulled over in CJ at noon. *Herbert Russell Higgins, 77, was cited on charges of failure to pay camping fees at Bolan Lake Campground. *Anthony M. Hensley, 33, was cited on charges of DWS and driving uninsured; and his vehicle was impounded. *On Old Stage Road at Fir Drive, Crystal Leann Robin- son, 23, was cited on a charge of driving uninsured and her vehicle was impounded at 1 p.m. *Four disorderly men were warned about their loud, intoxicated conduct on W. Watkins Street, and they moved on. *Sabino Galindo, 25, was cited on charges of open con- tainer and lack of a valid opera- tor’s permit in the 7000 block of Illinois River Road at 4:38 p.m. *At Lake Selmac the park host wanted a drunken man, who’d been making threats, “trespassed” from the park entirely. *A man who reported finding three bags of marijuana near Page Mt. ED EN FREE INSPECTIONS ADVANCED PEST TECHNOLOGIES Rental van kills Selma man A highly unusual acci- dent in Grants Pass claimed the life of an elderly Selma resident Wednesday morn- ing, July 26, said Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety (GPDPS). Responding to a report of a man pinned beneath a vehicle, GPDPS police and fire personnel and American Medical Response (AMR) were dispatched to J.J. North’s restaurant shortly before 9 a.m. Crews discov- ered 91-year-old Edward Holguin trapped under a rented van. According to Edna Pierce, GPDPS detective, Holguin was conscious and speaking at that time. Hol- guin sustained injuries to his legs and mid-section, and a crushed pelvis, she said. He was transported by AMR to Three Rivers Community Hospital, where he died of his injuries, trauma and shock, Piece said. Investigators deter- mined that the van had been loaned to Holguin, who ear- lier that morning had left his own vehicle at a dealership for repairs. The van was found by investigators to have been in reverse, and that it likely ment. *Teri Lynn Kennedy, 45, was cited on a charge of DWS on Hamilton Avenue at 2:30 p.m. *Two license plates were reported stolen from a Toyota pickup truck on Laurel Road. *Scott Alan Cook, 18, was cited on charges of third-degree theft, providing false informa- tion and as a minor in posses- sion of alcohol after an incident at Shop Smart Food Ware- house. *A listed runaway child returning home at 10 minutes to 4 p.m. set off an intrusion alarm at a Hummingbird Drive residence. *Bullets were landing in her yard from people shooting nearby said a Kinnickinnick Drive resident at 4:13 p.m. Wednesday, July 19 *Approximately $200 dam- age was said to have occurred when a jerk of a criminal kicked in a door and broke a skylight at Taylor’s Sausage Country Store shortly after 1 a.m. *August Eli Qualmann, 23, was lodged in county on a warrant charging probation violation. *An abandoned vehicle facing oncoming traffic on the side of Laurel Road was thought to be a hazard. *Three sandwich bags, each more than half full of marijuana, were discovered near Page Mountain Sno Park, some helpful person reported. *On Taurus Lane a man said he believed that his former roommate is responsible for a break-in and theft of belong- ings from his residence. *Blueberry pickers’ cars were creating a traffic hazard on Takilma Road, a caller claimed. Thursday, July 20 *In the 27000 block of Redwood Hwy. a woman said that a man once again has parked his pickup truck caus- ing her driveway to be blocked. *An Ollis Road resident said that her brother had gone missing. *Two women on June Drive were said to be drinking, yelling and using profanities around 7 p.m. *An O’Brien man said that someone was threatening to hurt him, but was walking away as he did so. *Two men were harassing each other on Pinewood Way. One had been evicted recently, and his trailer full of belong- Page 9 rolled over Holguin as he tried to exit it. The van came to rest on a landscaped em- bankment.
