Saturday, July 8 *A deputy investigated what sounded like fireworks or gunshots in the vicinity of Jubilee Park at 2 a.m. *Ten minutes worth of “high-caliber” gunfire com- ing from Dick George Road bothered a Kirkham Road resident at 2:20 a.m. *Just after 3 a.m. in the course of a traffic stop on Hwy. 199 at Draper Valley Road, Kristine Donna Nel- son, 32, was cited on Jose- phine County warrants charg- ing failure to appear (FTA) on charges of driving under the influence of an intoxicant (DUII) and contempt of court. She also was cited on a Grants Pass warrant charging FTA/DUII. *During the incident above, Matt Gray Ziegler, 45, with a reported blood-alcohol content (BAC) of 0.16, was cited on a charge of DUII, and warned about unlawfully stopping on the roadway. *Near the 17-mile marker on Redwood Hwy. at 4:52 a.m., Daniel A. Healer, 38, was cited on a charge of speeding (78 in a 55 mph zone), and warned for failure to carry insurance and an im- properly displayed tag. *Because he’d had to shoot a neighbor’s dog for chasing livestock, he said, the caretaker of property on Deer Creek Road said that a bloody newspaper clipping and note calling him a killer had been left for him to find. *Last seen sleeping in her vehicle at a Six Mile Campground site at 5:30 a.m., a young woman subsequently was reported missing. She was later located. *On Illinois River Road John David Nichols, 24, was cited on a charge of failure to maintain a lane (FaMaLa). *A woman on Takilma Road was advised to have a restraining order modified to prevent telephone calls from the restrained party. *Cited on charges of failure to wear seatbelts on Illinois River Road were Adrian Charles Kuttig, 35, and Lacy Rae Hamlin, 24. Hamlin also was cited on a charge of driving without insurance, and the vehicle was impounded. *Because a man was punching and kicking cars, destroying other property and causing an angry disturbance on N. Old Stage Road, a neighbor phoned to express concern about him. *Alejandro Orozco Rod- riguez, 24, was cited on Illi- nois Valley Road on a charge of FaMaLa. *And 20 minutes later, at 3:49 p.m., Rebecca Dianne Odiorne, 18, was so cited also. *Darned if another young driver, Alyssa Nicole Cherry, 17, found herself cited on a charge of FaMaLa at 4:03 p.m. *Jason Alan Knight Dickerson, 24, was cited for lack of adequate fenders on Illinois River Road. *William Arthur Young, 21, was cited on charges of driving uninsured and FaMaLa. His passenger, Nicole Lynn Taylor, 20, was cited on a charge of permit- ting unlawful operation on Illinois River Road. *After a report of some- one breaking into the building at the Kerby Transfer Station at 5:36 p.m., the driver of a light-blue Chevy pickup truck eluded officers by bailing out of his vehicle and running off in the vicinity of the paintball area. *Wearing a tie-dyed T- shirt and sunglasses, a woman pushing a shopping cart was seen peering into windows at Dave’s Outdoor Power Equipment at 5:46 p.m. *Sharon Kay Miller, 54, was cited on a charge of fail- ure to wear a seatbelt on Illi- nois River Road at 7 p.m. *A caller, who described a near collision in Downtown Cave Junction, asked that her sister-in-law be warned about her driving behavior. Sunday, July 9 *A party on N. Junction Avenue had drifted out onto the driveway, to the dismay of one neighbor who phoned to complain at 1:40 a.m. *At 2:19 a.m. a caller stated that there was an un- conscious, bleeding person on the parking lot at Art’s Red Garter Saloon. A bartender is said to have stated that there was “no problem,” and the responding deputy noted that he was uncertain whether a crime had been committed. *“Highly intoxicated,” a 46-year-old man who claimed to have been assaulted in a Cave Junction bar was said to be assaulting staff at Three River Community Hospital (TRCH) at 4:24 a.m. *Charles William Segura, 45, was cited on charges of illegal display and altered plates at around 4 p.m. in Downtown CJ,. The own- ers of the vehicle he was driv- ing were assisted in the re- trieving of it. *Daniel James Stephen, 40, was cited on Illinois River Road on a charge of switched license plates. *On Hwy. 199 in Selma at 5:30 p.m. Terry Leslie Frost, 35, was cited on felony charges of DUII and DWS. She was also cited for refus- ing a breathalyzer test. *At 9:30 p.m., as people in a white utility truck drove past him on Happy Camp Road, said a caller, they fired a .45-caliber handgun into the air, then drove off, laughing. Monday, July 10 *Dogs, one of which was running loose, had been bark- ing “for hours,” a Shadow- brook Drive resident said at 3:43 a.m. *Near Caves Hwy. at Junction Avenue, a woman, who appeared to be under the influence of “something,” was said to have been beating a couple of dogs and making hand gestures at passing vehi- cles at 10:23 a.m. *A tireless, stolen vehicle was recovered near Caves Hwy. and Bear Creek Road. *While parked at Six Mile Campground, someone backed into her car, damaging the driver’s-side door, a woman said at noon. Also, her stereo was reported stolen from the vehicle. *Just before 2 p.m. a man noted that his vehicle had been stolen from his worksite in the 200 block of S. Redwood Hwy. *Joseph Anthony Mazza, 18, was cited on a charge of DWS, and his vehicle was impounded. *With traffic lights out in all directions due to a power outage, drivers were failing to heed the four-way stop rules, and were simply “zooming” through Downtown CJ inter- sections, constituting a traffic hazard. *A reportedly intoxicated woman was strolling topless at Illinois River “Forks” State Park, a caller informed at quarter to 7 p.m. *Some $3,900 was re- ported by a Reeves Creek Road resident as stolen in a case of ATM fraud under investigation by Ashland Po- lice Dept. and the FBI. *For the second time in two weeks a fire of a suspi- cious nature occurred under a bridge on Hwy. 199 near Ken Rose Lane. Tuesday, July 11 *Because he was wear- ing dark clothing and a dark hat and sinking into his seat when other vehicles passed, a man was reported as suspi- cious near Hogue Drive and Warren Road at 12:55 a.m. *At 1:34 a.m. relatives of an injured man phoned from TRCH, saying that they wanted to press charges against those they say as- saulted the man. *Two men wearing mili- tary fatigues and ski masks were reported ringing a door bell in the 6000 block of Takilma Road before running away at 5:37 a.m. *Someone stole a $75 U.S. flag from atop the county building in CJ. *Gary M. Rodrigues, 49, was cited on a charge of sec- ond-degree criminal trespass at Shop Smart. *It was discovered in Downtown CJ that a man reported his van as stolen because he was so drunk the day before that he forgot where he parked it. *In CJ, a man was talked to about missing lights on his vehicle. *Stopped for using stud- ded tires, Christopher Aaron Gates, 18, was cited on a charge of DWS. *At Caves Hwy. and Frederick Court, a motorist was notified that one tire was about to come off. *Assistance was pro- vided on Pinewood Way in- volving a landlord-tenant dispute. *Three coolers full of food and beverages, with an estimated value of $700, were stolen at Lake Selmac, a woman reported. *Someone found a shot- gun lying on Lone Mt. Road. *Civil compromise was reached involving two bicy- cles valued at more than $300 on Reagor Lane after a man wouldn’t give them to her, a woman said. *An alarm at True Value was caused by a customer pushing a door. *Persons unknown en- tered a locked house in the 25000 block of Hwy. 199. *Trash in the 6500 block of Caves Hwy. was to be re- moved by those who had re- ported their trailer and trash stolen. *“Three high-powered gunshots” were reported at 9:26 p.m. on Kerby Street. *A deer departed was removed near milepost 17 of Hwy. 199 at 9:43 p.m. Wednesday, July 12 *Two youngsters were said to be causing a ruckus on Millie Street at 9:20 p.m. Par- ents were contacted. *Children playing on the roadway of Addison Lane were the subject of a com- plaint at 2:38 p.m. *A hot dog was reported in a pickup truck in CJ. *Kerby resident Fer- nando Dominguez Jr., 34, was arrested at county jail under a warrant charging FTA on a charge of unauthor- ized use of a motor vehicle. *A man firing a rifle into the air in the 1800 block of Crooks Creek Road said he’d stop after a complaint. *Following a report of five to 10 people physically fighting on Hogue Drive at 8:22 p.m., Tambi L. Robin- son, 24, was cited under a city of Lebanon warrant charging third-degree theft. *It appeared that noises heard on Jonathan Court were firecrackers and not gunshots reported at 10:07 p.m. *A harassing phone call on Honeybee Lane was logged at 10:30 p.m. Thursday, July 13 *A suspect was in mind in connection with a 12:39 a.m. incident in the 17000 block of Hwy. 199 involving a screaming man. *Insufficient evidence to pursue charges was listed after a complaint from Hol- land Loop about someone “peeling out.” *Someone reported a woman stoned “out of her mind” on Eight Dollar Road. *Three “transients” re- moved “No Trespassing” signs and were loitering, a man said, in Downtown CJ. *A pipe bomb that did not explode was found at the top of Hay’s Hill. *Robert J. Myers, 35, was arrested in CJ on a charge of probation violation. *Manuel Martinho, 20, was cited on Illinois River Road on charges of DWS and no insurance. His vehicle was impounded. *Two men in Jubilee Park were drinking and caus- ing problems at 6:57 p.m. *A report about pointing a firearm at another and men- acing was to be referred to the district attorney after an inci- dent in the 5000 block of Caves Hwy. *People on Shadow- brook Drive reported a men- tal person, but took care of the matter themselves. *Quad riders with unco- operative parents were listed on Forest Creek Road. *There was a complaint from Kerby that a boy, 18, has been having sexual rela- tions with a girl, 14.
