Page 9 Illinois Valley News, Cave Junction, OR Wednesday, May 3, 2006 Arson, murder charged in Dec. 13 CJ house fire In connection with a fatal house fire, Cave Junction tran- sient Benjamin Allen Tolle, 28, has been indicted by a Jose- phine County grand jury on charges related to the death of Curtis Dylan Willie, 29. Josephine County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) added on Friday, April 28, that Tolle has been in custody in county jail since his Dec. 13, 2005 arrest on unrelated charges. The fire occurred Dec. 13 at 208 1/2 Caves Ave. Tolle is charged with aggravated murder, first-degree arson, first- degree burglary, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and possession of a controlled substance/methamphetamine. Illinois Valley emergency personnel responded to the approximately 2 a.m. fire, and Willie’s body subsequently was discovered. An Oregon State Police arson team worked with JCSO Major Crime Unit detectives on the case. Following the grand jury indictment, it is noted that the county district attorney’s office will make any further an- nouncements concerning the case. Evergreen Kindergarten Roundup for registration, visit due May 9 Kindergarten Roundup will be held at Evergreen Elementary School Tues- day, May 9 from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. The program is to allow next school year kinder- garteners to attend an orien- tation and submit enrollment paperwork. Students must be 5 on or before Sept. 1 to attend kindergarten. Parents and children attending will have an op- portunity to meet the teach- ers, plus tour the school and classrooms. Under law, Oregon chil- dren initially entering school must be fully immunized or up-to-date on immuniza- tions prior to enrollment. All disabled up to age 21 eligible for education by 3 Rivers schools A VOLUNTEER RECRUITMENT Fair was held Satur- day, April 29 in the Josephine County Bldg. in Cave Junction. The four-hour program, sponsored by Illinois Valley Family Coalition (IVFC), was held to advise the public about the missions of various nonprofit organizations and the opportunities for volunteerism. There were many participants includ- ing (from top) IVFC, Rogue Community College, and Kerbyville Museum History Center. Public Law 105.17 known as I.D.E.A (Individualized Dis- ability Education Act) requires that school districts provide a free and appropriate education to all disabled children and young adults up to age 21. Three Rivers School District (TRSD) requests the identi- fication of any disabled children/young adults in that age cate- gory, who are not enrolled or currently being served by the district schools. Those who know of disabled children or young adults up to age 21, who are not receiving educational services, are asked to phone TRSD’s Special Education Dept. at 862-3111.
