Illinois Valley News, Cave Junction, OR Wednesday, April 5, 2006 Page 4 Barbara Ann Johnson Barbara Ann Johnson, 53, a 30-year resident of Cave Junction, died Monday, March 27, 2006 at Three Rivers Hos- pital in Grants Pass. A graveside service was held Thursday, March 30 at Laurel Cemetery in Cave Junc- tion. Charles Sharrad offici- ated. Mrs. Johnson was born July 13, 1952 in East Chicago, Ind. She moved to Illinois Val- ley in 1974 from Hammond, Ind. She was active in the I.V. Bikers Toy Run. She enjoyed horse riding, and singing. She was known as a loving mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Louie Pombo, of Cave Junction; a son, Herbert Allen Johnson, of Williams, Ore.; a brother, Bruce Allen Schroeder, of Dearborn High, Mich.; two sisters, Karen Pinkerton, and Christine Krick, both of Griffith, Ind.; and one grandson. Robert Langfield Former Cave Junction resident Robert R. “Bob” Langfield, 79, died on March St. Patrick of the Forest Catholic Church On April 9, we will celebrate Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion, the start of Holy Week, with blessing of palms and a special pro- cession into the church. The Passion of the Lord will be read from Mark’s Gospel, and members will participate by reading aloud their parts representing the crowd. Selected speakers also will read parts repre- senting the narrator and the voice, with “Father Harry” reading the words spoken by Jesus. There will be services on Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and the Easter Vigil at 7 p.m. The regular Easter Sunday celebration will be at 9 a.m. There will be a rum- mage sale Friday and Satur- day, April 7 and 8. A funeral service was held Saturday, April 1, at Burns Mor- tuary Chapel in Hermiston. Burial with military honors fol- lowed at Hermiston Cemetery. Mr. Langfield was born on June 3, 1926 in Brookings, Ore. to Raymond and Jose- phine Langfield. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After his honorable discharge he married Betty J. Case on June 19, 1949 in Ala- meda, Calif. They lived in California, Oregon and Washington state before settling in Cave Junc- tion. They lived there for 17 years before moving to Her- miston in 2003. Mr. Langfield had worked as a manager for Silver Eagle Trucking, ONC Trucking, and PMT Trucking before retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Catholic Church, the Medford Elks Lodge, and the Eureka, Calif. VFW Post. He enjoyed fishing, playing guitar, poetry, boats, and the ocean. He was known for loving his grand- children and great- grandchildren. He is survived by five sons, Peter A. Langfield, of Red Bluff, Calif., Robert M. Langfield, of Klamath Falls, Ore., Jeff E. Langfield, of Cape Coral, Fla., Dan J. Langfield, of Cave Junction, and Patrick E. Langfield, of Cape Coral; three daughters, Jackson A. Langfield, of Klamath Falls, Kathy J. Hamilton, of Butte Falls, Ore., and Mary G. Zwald, of Hermiston; a sister, Virginia Wenrich, of Marys- ville, Calif.; 22 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. Madrone Adventist School on Tuesday morning, March 28 greeted their Reading Buddies. These adults enjoy read- ing with the students each week and giving each child encouragement and a little TLC (Tender Loving Care). Before the time for Reading Buddies, Pastor Verne and Patty Hyland had special worship time by singing in chorus, and Pas- tor Verne giving one of his action-packed stories. Evangelists Steve and Alberta Cook, due to popu- lar demand, are continuing the “Revelation Speaks Hope” meetings at the church, 265 S. He lived in Bend for more than 10 years, and moved to Cave Junction from Lakeside in Coos County in December 2004. He enjoyed fishing, hunt- ing, wood-working, and col- lecting antiques. Surviving are his brother, Albert Marean, of Kentucky; his sister, Marguerite Iverson, of Sacramento; and his cousin, Wayne F. Rusk, of Cave Junc- tion. Patricia ‘Pat’ White Cave Junction resident Patricia A. “Pat” White, 74, died Monday, March 27, 2006 in a Grants Pass nursing home. No service is planned. Mrs. White was born on Aug. 3, 1931 in Kirksville, Mo., where she was raised through her middle school years. She subsequently moved to California, where she at- tended high school and re- mained for many years. She was employed as a waitress, and an executive sec- retary. Mrs. White also owned and operated several businesses including an aircraft parts sup- ply company, and a restaurant. She also taught herself the fundamentals of stock acquisi- tion and trading. During that time she raised two sons and many other children, who grew to call her “Mom.” She moved to Cave Junction in 1991 from Half Moon Bay, Calif. Her hobbies were helping others and reading. In Illinois Valley she served many stu- dents with writing and reading programs. She also served on the board that oversaw the funding, design and construc- tion of I.V. Senior Center. And she was recognized as a helpful participant in several valley and national environmental issues. She is survived by two sons, Steven White, and David White, and their families.
