LAST WEEK’S STORMS dumped plenty of water on
Illinois Valley. These photos (clockwise from top, left)
show the raging Illinois River at the green bridge on
Eight Dollar Mountain Road; a drainage ditch on Wat-
kins Street at Caves Avenue; a pickup truck navigating
Lakeshore Drive; flooding at Illinois River ‘Forks’ State
Park; a rampaging Reeves Creek at the west side pic-
nic area at Lake Selmac; a flooded yard and street at
Watkins and Caves Avenue; an overflowing ‘flood
control’ channel in the same Cave Junction neighbor-
hood; and residents obtaining sandbags from the
county yard in Kerby. The bagging was a task handled
by Josephine County Search and Rescue, and many
residents took advantage of the bags to deter flooding.
Bags were also available at the CJ fire station.
