Charges can be amended or dismissed.) * * * Saturday, Nov. 12 *In front of Family Tree Garden Center, a sign valued at $425 was found destroyed. Tire marks were located. *Joseph Cattivera, 64, was cited on a charge of viola- tion of the basic rule/driving too fast for conditions (VBR), traveling 40 mph in a 30 mph zone in the 26000 block of Redwood Hwy. at 2:30 p.m. *On Caves Hwy., a father reported that a girl, 13, was threatening his child with death. *People shooting behind the Pacific Power substation on Elwood Lane were run off by a neighbor, a caller said. Sunday, Nov. 13 *An anonymous caller said that the driver of a car parked at a Cave Junction bar had nearly run him off the road. *Two shotguns were re- moved by thieves who smashed the window of a car parked overnight at a Cave Junction bar. They left a pink shirt behind, and the caller may have suspect information. *Michael Adam Massey, 25, was cited to appear on a misdemeanor warrant from Medford Police Dept. charg- ing failure to comply. *Brent E Benschoter, 35, was cited on a charge of driv- ing with a suspended license (DWS), and warned for an obstructed windshield on Reeves Creek Road. *On E. River Street a woman and her husband were contending with an aggressive dog. A deputy assisted an ani- mal control officer in contact- ing the owner of the animal. *His vehicle broken down on Crooks Creek Road, a man had been sleeping in one of the complainant’s vehicles for the past two or three days, and the complainant didn’t like it. Monday, Nov. 14 *Just before 2 a.m., a man reported his bicycle stolen from inside a CJ lounge. *Said to have been bran- dishing firearms and “running around acting crazy,” a man was arrested under a peace officer’s mental hold and taken from an address on Hol- land Loop to Three Rivers Community Hospital. *Not satisfied with how the school district is handling incidents of harassment at school, a concerned parent phoned to report that his son had been hit with a flag pole during class. *A Cave Junction man said that his neighbors follow him in their car when takes his dog for a walk, and he doesn’t know why they would do this. Tuesday, Nov. 15 *An ATV apparently stolen from Phillips Auto Wrecking was discovered in bushes at the end of Pinewood Way. *On June Drive, a woman said that she allowed a hear- ing-impaired woman to stay there, and that she now refuses to move out. Screaming and yelling heard on the line by a call-taker was the deaf woman, who phoned because someone flipped her off. *Cassidy James Cain, 23, was cited at 11 a.m. on a charge of third-degree theft (shoplifting) at Shop Smart Food Warehouse *Allegedly attempting to prevent development at a Lakeshore Drive location, his neighbor keeps padlocking the gate to his right-of-way, a man reported. *A dark-pink mountain bike was reported stolen from a carport on Caves Avenue just before noon. *Following an investiga- tion, Peggy Phillips, 52, was arrested on a charge of arson, and lodged in Josephine County Jail. *On June Drive, Shelli Lee Guerra, 47, was cited on a charge of possession of a con- trolled substance (PCS), less than an ounce of marijuana. Also, license plates from a vehicle were seized. *Cited on a charge of second-degree forgery after a complaint of stealing and at- tempting to cash a check at Home Valley Bank, Joshua David Scott, 25, also was cited to appear on warrants charging unauthorized use of a vehicle (UUV) and failure to appear (FTA) on a charge of driving under the influence of intoxi- cants (DUII). *A property owner on Fernwood Drive thought it suspicious when she saw a man emerge from her woods and get into a car. *Footprints and tire marks led from a carport in the 500 block of S. Redwood Hwy. from whence was stolen a gasoline-powered scooter, a caller said at 8:30 a.m. *From a Redwood Hwy. address in California, a man in an “excited state” phoned to say that he and his mother were being held against their wills in the 37000 block of Redwood Hwy. in Oregon. No further information could be obtained before he hung up. When a deputy checked the possible location, all was fine. *Left in an unlocked ve- hicle on S. Redwood Hwy. a purse with a full complement of cash, credit and Social Se- curity card, driver’s license, Oregon Trail card and birth certificates was taken, a caller reported at 9:30 p.m. She was advised to contact her finan- cial and other institutions. *It was thought that dep- uty assistance might be neces- sary, as a woman’s ex- husband was in the 200 block of S. Kerby Avenue and caus- ing trouble, but he soon left. Wednesday, Nov. 16 *Disciplinary action was to be taken by the school “at the parental level” in the mat- ter of three 13-year-old girls who are accused of phoning and sending a written death threat to another youngster. The girls insisted that it was a “prank.” *Brent Eugene Benscho- ter, 35, was cited on a charge of DWS and his vehicle towed from the 33000 block of Red- wood Hwy. He apparently is authorized to drive because of emergencies, but he said he was going to watch some chil- dren, and that was determined to not be an emergency. *Robert Lee Hicks, 58, was arrested on charges of PCS/methamphetamine, DUII, and DWS. He was lodged in Josephine County Jail, and his vehicle was towed after a 2 a.m. traffic stop in the 27000 block of Redwood Hwy. *In Selma a woman said that when she returned keys for a residence she had been house-sitting, the owner snatched then from her, possi- bly breaking a finger. She then decided against deputy con- tact, saying that they would work it out amongst them- selves. *Someone caused a re- ported $1,850 damage to an air conditioning unit at St. Mathias Episcopal Church. *Two “highly intoxi- cated” men outside the front door of CJ Select Market were deterring customers, and they were refusing to leave at 6 p.m. *In the 800 block of Caves Hwy., a man said that a woman unknown to him came onto his property yelling and threatened to burn down his house. *On Laurel Road another man had an encounter with the woman who seemed intent on threatening to burn down other people’s houses today. *Sometime around 2 a.m., a man on McMullen Creek Road said that he thought he heard his son’s pickup truck leave the property. Anyway, at 4 a.m. the vehicle was defi- nitely stolen. *In the 5000 block of Lakeshore Drive a woman believed that she interrupted a burglary. Thursday, Nov. 17 *For the past hour, a caller reported at 9 a.m., a neighbor on Schumacher Street had been “blasting the stereo,” said to be a recurring problem. *His neighbor refused to return a set of motorcycle- loading ramps loaned him six months ago, a man on Crooks Creek Road said, and he needed to know his options. A deputy advised him and phoned the other party, leav- ing a message regarding the return of the ramps. *From a carport in the 24000 block of Redwood Hwy., a Stihl chainsaw valued at $800 was reported taken. *On Terrace Heights Drive, a woman said that someone packed up her be- longings, and may have taken some of her items. Friday, Nov. 18 *At 8:30 a.m. it was noted that some yo-yo had jammed a toothpick into a door lock at the I.V. Substation and broke it off, rendering both lock and toothpick unusable. The of- fending splinter was subse- quently removed. *On Crickett Lane a util- ity trailer filled with trash was abandoned. As this is not a county-maintained road, it was determined to be the responsi- bility of nearby home owners to have the trash removed. *An intoxicated man was warned for trespassing after causing trouble at Giant Bur- ger at 10:30 a.m. *On N. Old Stage Road, a woman became suspicious after a man came to her back door saying that he was from Albertson’s and that he had a ham for her. The man, who had an Albertson’s name tag and a ham, left, and she phoned the store. A manager said no employee would be doing anything like that. *Aaron Taylor Alby Sil- vius, 17, was cited on a charge of fourth-degree assault after an altercation on Schumacher Street at Kerby Avenue at 12:48 p.m. *Headed south on Takilma Road around 4 p.m., a possibly intoxicated driver in a Ford pickup truck was trav- eling at speeds of 70 to 100 mph and swerving all over the road, a caller reported. *A mother on S. Kerby Avenue was apologetic after being informed that her sons, in playing with a phone, had dialed 911 eight times. Saturday, Nov. 19 *Concerned that his ten- ant on Crooks Creek Road has anger management issues, a man wanted it noted that the renter had screamed and cursed at him about water is- sues. *A man who appeared to be high, according to the caller, was wandering in and out of traffic on Redwood Hwy. at Laurel Road at 9:45 a.m. *In a civil dispute regard- ing a shared driveway on Deer Creek Road, the complainant was advised of his options. *Two men were warned for failure to wear seatbelts and picking mushrooms with- out a permit in the 2500 block of Grayback Road. *On Redwood Hwy. near Westside Road a red-and- white Hereford cow was loose and causing traffic problems just after noon. *Gary Krinsky, 57, was cited to appear in Cave Junc- tion Municipal Court on a charge of traveling 70 in a 45 mph zone. *On Rockydale Road at Redwood Hwy., Woody John Nelson, 20, was cited on a charge of VBR, traveling 42 in a 30 mph zone. Sunday, Nov. 20 *Cameron Roger Dailey, 36, was cited to appear on warrants charging FTA on original charges of UUV and fourth-degree assault. *A black-and-yellow, five-horsepower go-cart was reported stolen from a resi- dence on Hummingbird Road. *Robert C. Breakfield, 41, was cited to appear in CJ Mu- nicipal Court on charges of expired tags and driving unin- sured. He was also cited to appear on a DWS charge. *On Lakeshore Drive, a man said that some dogs had killed some of his goats and he was concerned because the dogs’ owner was making threats against his parents. The matter was referred to county animal control. *A woman on S.
